1:The Dilemma
Welcome to the world of Pokemon. It’s vast world with many different regions across its expansive planet. Our story begins in a small town of Pokeville in the Equestria region: the most unique region in the entire Pokemon world. It has Pokemon from all of the other regions. It’s quite remarkable actually. Here resides 15 year old Rarity Mclane a young trainer who desires to become a top coordinator. She has a passion for fashion that's for sure. Her family's clothing store is number one in the town. That isn't saying very much since the only competitor is little clothing shop in the towns Poke Mart. Her inspiration has allowed her to become skilled at the art of Pokemon coordinating. This girl knows how to dazzle people with her creative move combinations, and to make her pokemon look absolutely fabulous. She has won the small contests that Pokeville throws on every year, but has never competed in an official Pokemon Contest. That is until now.
"Ugh. Where is it!? Where is it!? Where is it!!? Calm down Rarity. No need to be so loud. Aha! Diamond can you please be a dear and help me find my passport?" Rarity said.
Diamond the glaceon nodded to her trainer, and searched under all of the tables in the room. Diamond then out of the corner of her blue eye, saw Opalescence Rarity's delcatty sitting in her bed taking a snooze. Diamond turned her head to the Delcatty. She then noticed that under her was Rarity's passport. Rarity was busy looking in the kitchen so Diamond decided to try to get the passport WITHOUT waking Opal up.
She first tried to use her thin tail to slide the object from under Opal's paws. It looks like it could of worked, but Opal placed her other paw on top of other make it too much pressure to move passport. This Pokemon wasn't going to give up. She then took some tread and tied it around the edge of the passport. After words the glaceon tied the end of the thread onto a large book on the counter nearby. With all of her strength, Diamond pushed the heavy book off. This caused the passport to come free of Opal's grasp. The glaceon had a smile of satisfaction across her face, and used Quick Attack to swiftly dash to Rarity with the object in her mouth.
"Glace. Glace.," said Diamond.
Rarity glanced down to see her pokemon holding her passport.
"Diamond, where ever did you find it? You’re such a good girl. Yes you are! Yes you are!," Rarity said while petting Diamond on the head.
The girl grabbed the passport, and headed upstairs with Diamond following her.
Before she enters her room she heard a loud sound.
"Rarity!"
"What is it now Sweetie Belle?"
"Can you help me with something?"
The purple haired girl and her Pokemon walked into Belle's room.
Rarity then said. "Sweetie, you really must clean up. This place is so dreadful. How can you live like this?"
"I know it's bad, but it's not like I'll be sleeping in here for much longer."
"Are you going on a trip with Bloom and Scootaloo?," asked Rarity.
"Didn't mom and dad tell you? I'm coming with you on your journey in Sinnoh!"
"What!? You are…coming…...with ME?!"
"Yep. I convinced mom and dad to let me go because I said it would help me grow as a person, and plus I get to sped time BONDING with my best sister EVER! It's going to be so much fun!"
Sweetie hugged her big sister. Rarity was still in shock over the news of her sister joining her.
"Sweetie you don't want to go on this journey with me. I mean I will be roughing it the whole way through, and I KNOW how much you hate camping."
"What are you talking about? I love camping. Where do you think I am in the summer?"
"I thought mom sent you to the Kalos region for a summer camp?"
"She did, and this camp actually had us camp, and it was so fun! Sleeping in tents, singing campfire songs, star gazing, what isn't there to love!?"
"Ok, but I can't let you go. You’re not old enough yet."
"Of course YOU would make that excuse?"
"What does that supposed to mean?"
"Pokemon trainers are SUPPOSED to start their journeys at age 10, and I'm 10 as of last week. I'm fully qualified to go on a journey. Besides, I'll be with you, so there is no worry."
"Well…. Ugh."
Rarity looks at Diamond.
Rarity continues to say "You don't have a pokemon! You can't go with me unless you get a pokemon. It is as simple as that!"
"But why can’t I go?"
"Because what if something happened to me? Who is going to help you, protect you? Well…"
Belle stood in silence.
"See what I mean? Sweetie I REALLY want you to join me, but I can't let you go unless you find a partner. Talk to mom and dad about it. Now if you will excuse me I must pack!"
Rarity exited the room.
Sweetie then sat on her desk, and logged on to her computer and booted up Skype. She then set up a video call with her best friends Bloom or Apple Bloom and Scootaloo.
"What's up Sweetie Belle?" asked Scootaloo.
"How's the packing for your big trip going?” said Apple Bloom.
Belle replied, "It's not going so good actually."
"How come?" said Scootaloo
"Well....Rarity won't let go unless...."
Sweetie's two friends said,"What?"
"Unless....I get a Pokemon by Thursday."
"Oh." they both said.
"Wait!," shouted Bloom.
She got away from the camera's view, and grabbed a book.
"Ooh! What's that?" asked Belle.
"It's our family scrapbook! I think there is something in here that could help right now. Let me see."
Bloom was flipping through the pages quickly until she stopped, and pointed to a picture of her family with 2 people in lab coats.
"This is a picture of my family the day that my big sister Applejack got her first pokemon at the Laboratory of the Two Sisters. See what I'm getting at?"
"Honestly.... no," answered Scoot.
"Wait! " shouted Sweetie Belle. "That's the Pokemon lab on the other side of town. I could go there tomorrow and get a Pokemon! Then the next day it's off to Sinnoh! Yay! Thanks girls. I'll talk to you soon. Gotta go! Bye!"
Sweetie turned off Skype, and ran down the stairs and into the living room where her parents were reading quietly.
"Mom, Dad!" shouted Sweetie.
"Belle.” Her dad said. "No need to be so loud. Can't you see that we are trying to read in peace?"
"Sorry dad, but this is very important."
"What is it Belle?" asked her mom.
"Well Rarity told me I could not go with her unless I got a Pokemon."
"Oh. Well I never considered that when we said we could let you go."
"Your big sisters right Belle." her father said. "You need someone to be with you on this journey besides your sister."
"I know dad. That's why I want to get one from the sister scientists at the Pokemon lab across town. They gave Rarity Opal, so why wouldn't they give me one? I'm the age requirement, and super responsible so can we go tomorrow?"
Her parents turned their heads to each other and nodded.
Her mother then said. "Of course we will. Let me call them up right now, and schedule an appointment with them."
Sweetie was ecstatic and the news and quickly ran upstairs to tell Rarity. She was about to go into her room, but she then heard her mother yelling, “Wait Belle!"
"Yes mom."
"Before you go tomorrow, I want you to CLEAN your room. It's a pig pen in there."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Oh fine. Now I've gotta tell Rarity."
"Ok Belle."
"Thanks mom!"
Sweetie quickly ran into Rarity's room. Rarity just finished zipping up her last suitcase.
"There Opal, and Diamond, everything I need is packed. Do you think I over packed?" said Rarity.
The Pokemon then stared at the 12 different suitcases. They then turned to her and their eyebrows lowered.
"Ok I MAYBE packed a bit too much, but...."
Sweetie then said rapidly Rarity! Guess what! Guess What!"
"What is it Sweetie Belle? Can't you see I'm in a packing dilemma here?"
"I'm getting a Pokemon tomorrow! So I can go with you to Sinnoh! Isn't that great!?"
"It is... great....that. You’re going with ME. So where are you getting your Pokemon?"
"Well, we are going to the sisters in the lab across town. It's the same place you got Opal from."
"Oh that's interesting. Well I'm happy for you Sweetie. Now, I heard mom say to clean your room. So get too it!"
"Yes mam!"
Sweetie ran out and closed the door. Rarity walked to her desk, and sat down. Diamond jumped on to the desk and went under Rarity's hand. She then petted her glaceon.
"Sigh. Is it bad that I don't want her to go? I mean I love spending time with her I truly do, but I wanted this to be MY JOURNEY not hers. Well I guess I'll have to make the best of it. Hopefully she isn't a burden. Well it's almost dinner time girls. Let's head to the kitchen to feed you. Come on Diamond, Opal."
The girl walked out of the room and her partners followed.
Pokemon Coordinator Rarity
It was the next morning. Young Belle was up bright and early getting breakfast ready for everyone. She made toast, and some Moomoo Milk. She even set the table. Her parents along with Rarity came down the stairs still in their pajamas.
"What is all this?," asked Belle's dad.
Sweetie answered, "Breakfast. I decided to make it for you guys since you are taking me to get my own Pokemon. Now eat up guys!"
The family ate their morning meal and then headed out to the lab. After a 15 minute drive, the group parked the car in front of the lab. The sisters then saw Rainbow and her sister Scootaloo, and Bloom with her older sister Applejack. Sweetie quickly got out of the car and ran to her friends.
"What are you girls doing here?" asked Belle.
Scootaloo answered "You thought we WEREN'T going to be here when you got your partner. You don't know us well enough Belle!"
"Yea. What she said.," added Apple Bloom.
Rarity walked up to Rainbow and AJ with Diamond and Opal following close behind. Applejack had her mightyena Winona with her, and Rainbow had her squirtle Tank in her arms.
"How's going Rarity? I'm sure your mighty excited for your big trip to Sinnoh huh?," asked AJ.
Rarity responded "I'm doing well thank you. I'm a bit apprehensive about my journey though."
"How come?," said Rainbow as she let Tank go and greet Rarity's pokemon.
"Well.....I'm just nervous about Sweetie slowing me down and getting in the way." she whispered to her friends.
"Oh." said the two friends.
Applejack came next to Rarity put her hand on her shoulder.
AJ then said,"Listen Rarity. I can can completely get why you are feeling this way. It's a natural feelin. You are ready to go on your own and go on your own journey with your pokemon pals. You don't want some other people being there with ya, but that's the beauty of going on a journey. When I was about Bloom's age, I went on a long journey with my brother Mac through our home region, and what an experience it was. I got to meet new people, see amazin battles, and meet really cool pokemon that I had never seen before. That was one of the best times I have ever experienced in my whole life, and I was glad my big brother allowed me to share it with him. Do you see what I'm gettin at sugar cube?"
"I think so. This is a chance for Sweetie Belle to grow and have a good time seeing new people places, and of course pokemon. It may not be the journey I envisioned in my mind, yet I know that we will just have the most fabulous time. Thanks for helping me Applejack. I'm so glad that you are my friend."
The two hugged, and Rainbow stuck her tongue out, and pointed her finger in her mouth.
"Don't mention Rarity. Now, let's head inside. I'm sure the professors are waiting for us. "
The grouped walked into the laboratory. It seemed more like an office building since there was a front desk, and even a siting area. Rarity rang the bell on the desk.
"I'll be right with you.," said a voice that was coming from under the desk.
Then a purple haired girl with streaks of pink in her hair came from behind the desk. She then said,"Oh.You must be the Mclane family here to see the professors. Am I correct?"
Rarity then said "Yes you are dear. Now I'm Rarity, and this is my little sister Belle. She is the lucky girl getting her pokemon today."
"Oh that's wonderful. You know I got my first pokemon from Professor Rowan in the Sinnoh region when I was your age. Speaking of which, has any of you seen a gible around here?"
The group shook their heads.
"Has your gible gone missing sugar cube?," asked AJ.
The girl answered "Oh of course not. He is probably just hiding around here somewhere. Spike seems to enjoy doing that while I'm working. Knowing him, he must be with Dawn and Dusk."
"Who are Dawn and Dusk?," asked Scoot.
"They are my boss’s pokemon. Almost forgot about your visit. Please follow me to the outdoor pokemon observatory."
The group was now walking through the narrow hallway.
Rainbow then decided to ask,"So what exactly do you do here?"
The girl replied, "Well we here at the lab mainly are focused on the study of branching evolution of pokemon."
"What's branching evolution?," asked Scootaloo.
"Well it's when a pokemon can evolve into at least 2 different pokemon for it's final evolution. An easy example would be um....Kirlia. A male or female kirlia can evolve into gardevoir, but only the male can evolve into gallade if a dawn stone is used on them. Does that answer your question?"
"Sorta. It's still kinda confusing, but thanks for explaining it to me miss....? Oh we never got your name."
"My names Twilight. Twilight Sparkle. I'm an apprentice of the sisters who run this place. I wish to become a scientist in the field of pokemon evolution like they are. It's a dream that I am reaching with them passing knowledge onto me."
Sweetie then said,"Wow! That's a cool dream. Rarity here dreams to become top coordinator of the Sinnoh region! We are actually heading there to start OUR journey tomorrow. Isn't that right sis?"
"Um......yes......that's right Sweetie Belle."
Twilight then said,"That's very cool. I wish I could go on a journey, but my dream and studies come fist. Alright we are about to enter the observatory. There are 3 simple rules while being in here. Number 1: no flash photography. We don't want to disturb the pokemon. Number 2: Do not touch the pokemon unless given permission to do so. Finally, number 3: please make sure not to interrupt any tests the sisters may taking when in there. If they are busy, I'll give you a quick tour around, and then introduce you. Sound good to everyone?"
"Yes." replied the group.
"PSP..Rainbow Dash"
"Yea sis?"
"This girl is a pretty big egghead isn't she?"
"Yep. Now make sure to follow those rules unless you want to in trouble by miss....CHUCKLE.... egghead over there."
The two started to laugh hard. The group turned around to see where the noise was coming from. Twilight then came over to them and said "What's so funny about eggheads?"
The two then laughed even harder.
"SIGH.. I'm sorry about those two." said Applejack. "They have a weird sense of humor. Let's just leave um for a while, and head outside."
Twilight then said "Sounds good. Now everybody follow me. Oh, and Rarity..."
"Yes Twilight."
"You might want to put your pokemon in their pokeballs. They may scare of the babies in there, especially the dragon types."
"It's no trouble at all. Opal return and Diamond return now!"
The two pokemon where in their balls, and the pokeballs were put in rarity's pocket. The group then went outside.
"Hey! Wait for us!" shouted Scootaloo.
The two quickly ran outside. The group was amazed at just how big and open the observatory was. Pokemon were residing in their environments as if it was their natural ones. Many pokemon were here with all different shapes and sizes. Sweetie Belle was taking it all in, and amazed at the variety of pokemon she could pick for her partner.
"This is so cool!" said Rainbow.
"It is isn't it? Oh. If you look to the left you'll find my bosses. They are working on an evolutionary experiment using gloom. They are going to make them evolve at the same time!"
"Wow!" the group said in amazement.
"Are we ready to start the test Luna?" asked her sister.
"Yes as ready as it will ever be. Everything is ready to record any data."
"Good. Now, let us begin."
The scientists in lab coats each with having a different stone in their hands made contact with the gloom. Once the stone touched them, they both started glowing.
"Plum Shanks, those gloom are evolvin.," AJ commented.
The two gloom glowed, and once the light faded there were two different pokemon: one Vileplume and one Bellossom.
"Sister, look at all the data we got," said Luna looking at the screen.
Celestia then said,"We will examine it.....after we tend to our guests."
"Guests?" Luna looked over to see the group. The sisters then walked over to greet them.
"Hello to all of you. I am Professor Celestia head of this laboratory."
"And I am Luna. Co-head of this place. So who's the lucky one meeting their partner pokemon today?"
Sweetie Belle stepped forward.
Celestia then said "What is your name child?"
"I'm Belle, but you can call me Sweetie Belle. So when do I get to get my pokemon?"
Luna then said, "You must be mistaken .Here we don't just GIVE you a pokemon. The pokemon must choose YOU. That's how your sister and her friends got found their right partners. Isn't that right ladies?"
AJ then said, "You bet it is, and I would not have wanted it any other way."
"Indeed." added Rarity.
"Ok. I sort of understand, but how do I FIND my partner?," Sweetie asked.
Luna then said,"You will know child. Trust us. Now, to take you a tour around the observatory which I am sure your partner will be. Wait a minute! Sister have you seen Dusk and or Dawn?"
"No." her sister replied. "They must be around here somewhere. We will run into them eventually on the tour. Now, if you please follow me."
The group then started to take the tour, and where heading to the main section of the area.
Twilight then quickly said, "Professor."
"Yes Twilight." answered Celestia.
"I can't find Spike either."
"Oh dear. I suspect that they are around here somewhere.I know Dawn and Dusk won't let him get out of the property. So don't worry my student."
"Thanks for reassuring me Celestia."
She smiled at her student. Celestia then unlocked a door, and they went inside it.
"What is this place?," asked Bloom.
"This is one of the most important parts of our laboratory. This is our nursery. If you look over here you can see the room for the most important pokemon that we research." explained Luna.
They looked into a room with tons of young eevees playing with each other. Belle, Bloom, and Scootaloo were amazed at just how cute the babies were.
"Those eevees sure are pretty cute arn't they gals?" asked Bloom.
They replied,"Yeaaaaaaaaa."
Sweetie then noticed one pokemon that was in the corner of the room. She noticed it seemed to be sad, and then decided to go and enter the room.
"Sweetie? What are you doing honey?" said Belle's mom.
"You don't have permission to be in there!" said Twilight.
Twilight was about to run in after her when Celestia grabbed her lab coat.
"Huh?" said Twilight.
"Let her go in there Twilight."
"But why? She could....."
"Do what harm the babies? Try to steam them? Well...."
"No... You never let ME in there with them so, why can she teacher?"
"Because I sense that she was meant to go in there. Do you understand what I have said Twilight Sparkle?"
Twilight paused, and thought about her teacher’s words. She then said,"Yes. I do. Everyone just watch."
The whole group stared into room to watch Sweetie Belle.
The young Belle walked in the room, and all of the baby pokemon surrounded her. They were so cute, and looked so happy. Sweetie knew however, that she had to see the one in the corner. She walked up to it.
"Hello." Belle said softly. "Are you alright little eevee?"
The pokemon's ears went up, and noticed that someone was speaking to it. The eevee then turned to Belle. Belle then immediately noticed the scar that was over the baby's left eye.
"Wow. What happened to you little precious?"
She reached out her hand a bit, but the pokemon got scared and ran into the little house behind it. Sweetie then went on her knees, and slowly approached the house.
"I think we should give Sweetie some alone time. Come along everyone, let's explore the rest of the nursery." said Luna.
The grouped walked away except for Rarity. She just watched her sister interacting with the scared eevee for a second, and smiled. The girl then walked with the rest of the group.
Back in the nursery, Sweetie was looking at the small pokemon. She could see that it was scared of people, and maybe that's where the scar came from. Sweetie then tries to pet the eevee. It then bundled up out of fright.
She whispered,"It's ok. Everything's absolutely fine. I am NOT going to hurt you. Please just come out. I swear I won't hurt you."
Slowly, the baby came out and walked in front of Belle.
"That's it. Good job. Hmm...let's see I wonder what gender you are little cutie."
She then noticed the collar, and checked the tag on it.
"Ava? Huh? I guess your a girl. Is that right Ava?"
Ava's fluffy tail was wagging rapidly.
"I guess that means yes. Wow, you have a really cute name. I like it. I just wonder what horrible thing happened to you Ava?"
Ava's ears dropped, and started to cry a bit. Sweetie then picked up the baby and hugged her. Ava was surprised that she did this to her. She then closed her little eyes, and smiled while saying "Eeeeeeeve! Eevee!"
"Wow! That sure cheered you up Ava. I'm glad to hear that. You know when I saw you in the corner, I just uh felt something, and I HAD to see you. Did you get a similar feeling once you met me?"
Ava nodded slowly.
"Well....Huh! Wow! I think I've found my partner! Ava, would you like to be my partner?"
Ava looked confused, and twisted her head.
Sweetie then continued on talking, "Let me explain. You'll be MY pokemon, and together we will help each other grow stronger. I will be there for YOU always, and I would never hurt you EVER. We can see the entire pokemon world as a team. So how does that sound Ava?"
Ava wagged her tail, and nodded rapidly. She smiled at Belle. Sweetie then decided to catch up with the others, and Ava followed close behind her.
Pokemon Coordinator Rarity
3: Her First Battle Part 1
Belle and Ava walked around the lab trying to find the others. They searched in almost every room, but finally found that they were in the snorunt room. They opened the door and a sudden chilly blast of cold wind blew on them. Ava was shaking from intense cold. Sweetie quickly took her jacket off. She then covered the eevee in the warm cloth.
"There...you..go...Avaaaaa... Burgh...It's....so...cold....in....here," Belle said as she was shivering rapidly.
Ava then used her paw to point to a coat rack with a large winter coat. Sweeite then quickly grabbed it and put it on.
"Much...better.. Thanks Ava..'
Ava smiled to the young girl. The two then entered the room and found the others observing the ice type pokemon.
"Hey! Guys!." Belle shouted.
The group turned around.
"Hey! It's Belle!," said Bloom.
The two little ones ran to their friend.
"So is that the eevee you wanted to see Belle?" asked Scootaloo as she pointed to it.
Sweetie nodded to her friends, and then the rest of group came over to her.
"So I see you have found your partner haven't you Belle?," asked Luna.
Sweetie Belle replied, "I have Professor, and if it is alright may I take Ava with me?"
"Of course you can child. Now, that you two have been connected by a bond, there is no separating you two. Come on everyone. Let's head to the central lab so we can continue with Belle's trainer registration. Follow me please."
They then walked over to the lab, and the two professors unlocked the door. Once it opened they saw three pokemon on the table.
"Dusk, Dawn, and Spike there you all are. You had us worried sick," said Twilight as she walked up to the pokemon.
Dusk, Dawn, and Spike ran to their trainers and jumped into their arms.
"Well now that problem is over with, why don't we give Sweetie some presents sister?," Luna asked.
Celestia responded."I agree. Belle Mclane step forward."
Sweetie did as she said. Ava jumped out of her arms while Sweetie stepped towards the professors. The sisters then took out a box wrapped in a pink bow. Luna then gave it to the young Mclane.
"Come on dear open it!" said her mother.
"Ok. Let's see....," said Sweetie as she began to open the box.
Inside were some pokeballs, a light pink pokedex, and a trainer ID card. Sweetie took them out one and a time, placing them on the table.
"These items Belle are very important. You of course know what pokeballs are. Do you need a demonstration on how to use one?," Twilight said.
Belle responded, "I already know how. I have watched Rarity and AJ do it tons of time before. Thanks for the offer though Twilight."
Sweetie Belle put the balls in her backpack. Twi then pulled out the pokedex.
"This pokedex is a mini encyclopedia for pokemon. Just open it up and put it in front of a pokemon you want to know about. Ok, so why don't you try."
Sweetie was handed the device from Twilight. She then opened the dex while holding it up to Ava.
"Eevee the Evolution Pokemon, thanks to its unstable genetic makeup, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions." the pokedex said.
"Wow!" gasped Belle. "This is so cool! Let's try it out on Spike!"
She moved the device in front of the small gible.
It then said,"Gible the Land Shark pokemon. It attacks using its huge mouth. While its attacks are powerful, it hurts itself out of clumsiness, too."
"Now for Dusk!," said a happy Belle.
"Umbreon the Moonlight pokemon. When exposed to the moon's aura, the rings on its body glow faintly and Umbreon is filled with a mysterious power." said the dex..
Sweetie then went in front of Dawn.
"Espeon the Sun pokemon. Its fur has the look and feel of velvet. The orb on its forehead glows when it uses psycho-power."
"This thing is so cool. Thank you all so much!," Sweetie said.
The sisters replied,"You're welcome!"
"Now it's time to give you your trainer ID. You will need to keep this on you at all times because you will need it in order to compete in specific events such as pokemon contests, tournaments, or gym challenges. So take good care of it.," explained Celestia.
Sweetie put it in her bag. The professors then said,"One more thing."
"Rainbow, Rarity, I think WE know what's coming don't we gals?," said AJ.
They nodded and said,"Mhmm."
"You must complete one task before you leave this place.," said Luna.
"What...exactly...is..it Professor?," Sweetie asked.
Celestia answered, "Your first battle."
"What? My first pokemon battle? Here? NOW!?"
"Yes. It's a sort of tradition we have here in Pokeville. You were too small to remember when I battled Rarity all those years ago. It was a amazing performance wasn't it Luna?"
Luna nodded. The sister then said,"It was sister. I just hope that Belle's first battle will be JUST as amazing. Now, young one which of us do you want to battle against?"
"I get to choose?," Belle asked.
"Yes. So who will it be my sister or me?"
"Could you give me a minute to think it over professors?"
"Of course take all the time you need. Sister let us go set up the battlefield outside."
Celestia nodded, and the two left the room with Twilight following them close behind.
"Wow! We get to witness your first battle! That's totally awesome!," said Scootaloo.
"I'm so excited yall! This is going to be amazing. Hey! What moves does Ava know Belle?," said Bloom..
A confused Belle answered," I don't know actually. Is there a way I could find out Rarity?"
Her sister walked over to Belle, yet quickly grabbed the pokedex while Belle didn't notice. Rarity then opened it up because she wanted to set up the scanning feature of the device. Belle just then noticed that her dex was missing, and then saw Rarity using it.
She then said,"Rariy! Why did you take my pokedex?"
"Because I wanted to show you a useful feature of the pokedex. Could I see Ava for a moment?"
"Sure."
Sweetie picked the eevee up and placed her on the table. Rarity then scanned her. The dex started talking again.
"Eevee knows the moves Tackle, Sand Attack, and Shadow Ball," the device said.
"Wow!," the young kids said in awe.
"That is so cool. Ava already knows shadow ball. So Awesome!," commented Scootaloo.
"I reckon that this will be an exciting day just like when we had our first battle Rainbow.," said AJ.
Rainbow responded, "Yea. Tank and I were in sync when battling Dawn and he learned how to use rapid spin too. That was a day I will never forget. Say AJ why don't we have a battle sometime so we can see how far we have come?"
"Alright sounds good. You just name the place and time."
"It's a deal."
The two shook hands.
"I think you should battle Dawn dear.," said Mr.Mclane.
"Why is that dad?," asked Sweetie Belle.
"Well Dawn is a psychic type pokemon. Ava's shadow ball move is super effective against Dawn. It's a good match for you."
"I guess, but you know what I want to battle Dusk instead!"
"What!?"
"I don't want my first battle to be easy. If I'm going to be a great trainer someday, I have to challenge myself. Yep, I have made up my mind, and there is no going back!"
"Alright dear if that's what you want. I can't stop you."
The two professors and Twilight came back in.
"So have you made your decision?" Professor Luna asked.
"I have." replied Belle.
"I guess you want to battle my sister then since your Ava will have the edge because of it's ghost type move shadow ball?"
"Actually....no."
"Huh?"
"I want to battle YOU Luna."
"You do? Well....I'm..quite..shocked by your choice."
"Why? Don't new trainers pick YOU sometimes?"
"Not as often as you would think. Most new trainers pokemon choose my sister because they normally have the advantage. Few pokemon that we raise here at the lab have the edge on dark types like my umbreon. I'm just shocked that's all, but am grateful that you choose the harder battle. So Belle Mclane, you are on! Come this way so the fun of battling can begin!"
RD then said,"This battle is going to be...oh what's the word?"
"Epic!" said her sister Scootaloo.
"Yea Epic. You always know what I want to say squirt."
Scootaloo then whispered, "Don't call me squirt in front of my friends. It's so un-COOL sis."
RD then gave the girl a noogie.
"I'm just messing with you sis. Come on let's go." said RD.
The grouped headed to a vacant area of the labratory. Luna was on the left side, and Belle was on the right. Twilight was the referee, and the rest of them were on the sidelines.
Twi then started to speak,"Alright everyone, the battle between Professor Luna from Canterlot and Belle Mclane from Pokeville will now begin. Each side will use one pokemon. The battle will be over when one side's pokemon is unable to continue. Alright battle begin!"
Luna shouted,"Alright Dusk let's start the fun!" as she threw her pokeball.
Dusk flip 2 times before landing on the field. It then cried out,"Ummmmbreee!"
"Dusk sure look's strong, but I know you can beat him. Ava it's your time in the spotlight!" said Belle.
She then threw Ava's poke ball, but Ava went crashing down once it got out of the ball.
A concerned Sweetie Belle then said, "Are you alright Ava?!"
The tough pokemon got up quickly while saying,"Veeeee!"
"Great Ava!," Sweetie said.
"Wow. That eevee is sure a tough one.," Celestia commented.
Twilight then said, "But let's just see HOW tough."
"You have the first move Belle."
"Alright then. Ugh...Ava use tackle!"
Ava charged using tackle. Dusk just stood there watching Ava.
Luna thought, Impressive speed for such a tiny pokemon, but I know JUST the way to counter it ."
"Stand there and take it!"
"What!?." the spectators gasped.
Ava's tackle attack hits it's mark. Dusk got pushed back while still standing, but got damaged by the attack.
"Great Ava!" Belle said.
Ava said while jumping up and down,"Eevee! Eevee!"
"It's too early to be celebrating you two. Let's just show you some real POWER! Dusk payback let's go!"
Dusk started to glow a bright purple while energy balls of purple surrounded him.
"Professor what does payback do?," asked Bloom.
She responded "Whenever you take damage from an attack, this attack takes that damage and fires it back at the opponent with DOUBLE the strength."
"Wow that's going to hurt unless Belle does something." said Scootaloo.
"Fire the payback Dusk!" shouted Luna.
Look's like things are really heating up. Will Ava be able to survive this powerful attack? And will Belle be able to defeat Professor Luna? Find out as the story continues in the next chapter.

4: Her First Battle Part 2
After getting everything she needs to become a trainer including partner Ava, Belle Mclane challenges Professor Luna co-head of the Laboratory of the Two Sisters. The battle began with a strong offensive attack by Ava landing a direct on Dusk the powerful partner of Luna. However, Dusk has a powerful counter move that is fired at Ava. How will this battle end?
The payback's purple orbs of power were flying through the air fast as air missiles. Belle was sweating bullets. She quickly thought of something to do.
"Ava, use sand attack as a counter, and make sure to aim for the orbs!," shouted Belle.
The eevee quick started rapidly using her paws to throw sand from the ground aiming for the orbs. The sand and the orbs collided while making a mini explosion for each one hit. The smoke created surrounded the battlefield. The spectators were unable to see anything.
"Belle!," shouted Bloom and Scootaloo.
"Don't worry guys. She is fine right Rainbow?" said AJ.
Rainbow nodded.
Celestia commented,"That was an EXCELLENT counter wouldn't you agree Twilight?"
"Yes. It's a sign that this girl has a bright future as a battler. Let's just see where it goes from here?"
The smoke faded, and both pokemon were on their separate sides at the starting spots.
"You have done well Belle. I see that you are a great battler, but let's just see how well. Dusk use Iron Tail!"
Dusk with its white glowing iron tail came running towards Ava.
Belle then said,"Ava use shadow ball to try to slow it down, and fire them continuously."
The shadow balls were rapidly firing at Dusk, but the pokemon used it's amazing speed to dodge them all!
"It dodged all of them!? Wow, that umbreon is really quick on it's feel! I mean my gosh!" said a shocked Rainbow.
Celestia then added,"Well you see when Luna and I were young we battle each other over and over. I was the one who usually won because of the fact that Dusk couldn't avoid my attacks fast enough. So Luna and Dusk did nonstop training sessions all the time to increase Dusk's speed."
"That's amazin. It just goes to show that special training really works!," said AJ.
"Ava! Avoid that iron tail by jumping!," shouted a desperate Belle.
The pokemon did as the trainer command, and was above Dusk. However, Luna's partner jumped up too. Its tail struck Ava's face, and the impact flew it down into the ground.
"Ava! Are you ok!?" said Sweetie Belle.
Ava using all of her might tried to stand up. Her body covered with wounds from that fall plus the damage from Dusk's powerful iron tail. Eventually, the little eevee stood up on her four legs while breathing heavily. Sweetie saw that her friend had fought it's hardest, and decided to do the right thing.
"I forfeit!," shouted Belle.
"What!?," said the spectators.
Luna then said,"Child why do you do this?"
Belle replied, "It's simple. Ava is been hurt enough! Don't you see that professor?"
"Yes of course I do, but in a battle you shouldn't give up till the very end. You won't get stronger by giving up!"
"But how can I...win?
"You can always win, you just have to BELIEVE that you CAN. Look at Ava does SHE look ready to give up?"
"Huh?"
Belle took a good look at her partner, and the determined smile on her face.
The girl then said,"Ava are REALLY ok?"
"Eevee!!!!!" cried Ava.
"OK then let's get back in this! Use tackle once more!"
While charging at top speed, suddenly Ava's tail started to glow.
"What's going on?," said Mrs.Mclane
Twilight said, "Is Ava learning a.... new move?"
Suddenly, the tail glowed a bright yellow. It then fired shiny yellow stars at Dusk, and the pokemon took some major damage. It then tumbled on the ground, but stopped when it hit a nearby tree.
"Are you alright my friend?!," said a worried Luna.
The umbreon slowly stood up. It's body had taken a lot of damage from that powerful swift attack. Luna could see the marks and bruises that covered her beloved pokemon. Dusk turned to Luna. He gave her a big grin.
Wow! , thought Luna. I haven't seen Dusk this happy and...determined during battle ever since..well..when I used to battle Celestia when we were children. This battle with Belle has re-lit Dusk's fire and passion for the art of battling. Belle I thank you for the opportunity to battle you, but it's not over yet now is it.
"Time for a change of pace! Use confuse ray!" shouted Luna.
The rings on Luna's partner started to glow. Ava quickly ran up to it, and then looked at Belle.
Sweetie then commanded, "Oh. Right. Use Sand Attack!"
The eevee's paws were splashing sand all over Dusk's face. However, it didn't faze it as much as it did on the payback from earlier. The ray was charged up, and fired it right at Ava. Her eyes turned all yellow.
"Oh no!" said Mrs.Mclane.
"What is it Mrs. Mclane?" asked Scootaloo.
"That attack is very deadly. It confuses it's target. That means Ava has a chance of missing the target, and could even hit us!"
"Wow that's some move."
"I have to figure out a way to protect all of us. Wait! I've got it! Come on out Scizor!"
Scizor appeared out of it's pokeball.
"Wow! Your scizor is so AWESOME Mrs.M! Let me see what my pokedex says about it." Rainbow said in awe.
"Scizor the pincer pokemon and the final evolved form of scyther It has a body with the hardness of steel, and not easily fazed by ordinary sorts of attacks. This Pokemon flaps its wings to regulate its body temperature" the dex said.
"Why thank you Rainbow. Charles would you mind calling out Bronzong to help us out?"
Her husband replied,"Of course. Bronzong go!"
Bronzong came out while floating next to its trainer.
"Wow that's a bronzong. I have never seen one before in my life. I'll check it out on the pokedex," said AJ,
The dex said, "Bronzong the bronze bell pokemon, and the final evolved form of Bronzor. Ancient people believed that petitioning Bronzong for rain was the way to make crops grow."
"Alright dear what's the plan?," said Mr.Mclane.
His wife answered, "If any move is coming towards us have bronzong use protect, and Scizor will do the same."
"Sounds good.Got that bronzong?"
"Zong, zong." his pokemon replied.
"Dusk use psychic let's go!," shouted Luna.
The umbreon's eyes glowed a bright light blue, and the light surrounded Ava. The young pokemon then was lift into the air.
"Ava! Ava! You have to snap out of i!." Belle shouted.
Dusk was smiling with a evil grin as it looked at helpless Ava. Luna was enjoying her advantage.
Belle shouted again, "Ava! Ava! Please snap out of it! Avaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Ava's eyes returned to normal.
"Alright! She snapped out of confusion!," said Rainbow.
Scootaloo then asked her sister "Yes, but how is she going to get out of Dusk's strong psychic?"
"She will trust me sister."
"I hope your right Rainbow."
"Dusk! Now smash it into the ground!," Luna shouted with her fist pointing towards the ground.
Ava was thrown to the ground, and everyone could feel the impact. Everyone just stared at Ava.
"Ava is unable to battle Dusk wins, and the victory goes to Professor Luna." said Twilight.
Dusk ran to it's trainer, and jumped on her. Luna fell down.
"You were great Dusk. Thank you.," said Luna.
Luna then noticed that Ava was in Belle's arms while having tears in her eyes.
Sweetie was stroking her partner's fur while whispering, "It's alright Ava. You did your best, and I'm so proud of you. So proud."
Rarity came over to her sister. She hugged her from behind.
"Huh? Rarity." said Sweetie.
Rarity said with tears of joy in her eyes, "I'm...so..proud of you Sweetie Belle. You were...AMAZING darling."
"You...(sniff)..really thought so sister?"
"Of course...I..did. Watching you battle has inspired me to do my best in all of my future contests. Your counter against that powerful payback was perfect. I'm just so proud of your little sister. Oh and you too Ava."
"Thank you sis."
After the battle, the group decided it was time to go home. The scientists escorted them out of the lab, and gave Sweetie some medicine to give Ava. They were just about to leave when Belle wanted to ask one more thing.
"Professors I have one more thing to ask.," said Belle.
"Sure what is it Belle?," asked Celestia.
"How did Ava get this scar?"
"Ugh."
Luna then said,"Well...it's quite..a..long..story."
"I don't care how long it is, I just want to know."
Celestia then said"sigh...alright. One day Luna and I were just about to close up the lab for the night when I hear our phone ringing. It was nurse joy from the pokemon center."
Luna continued "She told us that a well known pokemon breeder dropped off a cardboard box full of baby pokemon he didn't want."
"She would of taken care of them herself, but she just couldn't at that time because of all of the pokemon she already had to care for at the center. We of course rushed down their to see the poor pokemon, and one of them was in fact little Ava along with 4 other pokemon."
"We told nurse joy we would take and care for the babies. Thus, we brought them back to the lab, and have been looking after them ever since. This was about 3 months ago."
Belle then asked,"And about the scar?"
Luna then said,"We think that the breeder had something to do with it. Pokemon breeding is a huge business, and is very tricky to master. Most breeders take care of each pokemon, and help them grow at their own pace. However, some of them use cruel tactics to FORCE pokemon to learn new moves and develop certain abilities."
"That's terrible. Who could do such a thing to pokemon?"
"It's sad to think about.....Well I hope that answers your question. Safe journey.," said Celestia.
"Thank you for everything professor, and if I ever meet that breeder I'll give him what HE deserves" said Mr.Mclane.
The mclanes went home. It was now 10:00 P.M., and young Belle was about to go to bed. She stared at Ava sleeping at the edge of her bed. Belle tucked herself in.
She then thought, What a day. I got my partner, experienced my first battle, and got to learn so much about pokemon battling. This is just the start of my long life as a pokemon trainer. I know the road ahead won't be easy, but as long as I believe in my pokemon and myself I will always do my best!
Pokemon Coordinator Rarity
"I'm going to miss you two so much. Now, you two be careful hear me?," said Mrs.Mclane as she hugged her two daughters.
Belle and Rarity answered "Yes mom."
Today was the big day. It is the day when the Mclane sisters finally head out on their journey in Sinnoh. Mr. and Mrs.Mclane were so very proud of them, and were crying as their two daughters boarded the plane. The two went to their assigned seats in the back of the plane, and Rarity put their bags in the storage above them. She then sat next to her sister.
"I'm just so excited. Aren't you Ava?" Sweetie said.
"Eevee!," Ava said in happiness.
"Attention passengers take off will commence in 5 minutes please take your seats.," said the pilot on the intercom.
Rarity put her glasses on and started to read a fashion magazine.
"Whatcha reading?" Belle asked.
"Oh nothing. Just an article about Hoity Totiy! The biggest fashion icon in the world! Did you know he has designed for Wallace the contest master and Lance the champion of the Indigo Elite Four. Huh. He is just so amazing!"
Rarity started hugging her magazine, and both Ava and Belle gave her a weird look.
"Wait a sec. Isn't he that guy who is the special judge at Pokeville's annual town festival contest every year?"
"Yes of course. He along with Nurse Joy and the mayor are the judges. How could you forget? The festival was just last month. Sometimes you amaze me on just how many important things you forget."
"Sorry sis that I am not a obsessed contest fan girl, but anyway I wanted to ask you something."
"Yes what is it?"
"Why haven't you asked Hoity to come to shop after the contest every year? I mean he always compliments the dress you wear so....why don't you?"
"Well....I...ugh..never thought about it. I always figured he was too busy and had to back to Canterlot once the contest is over. I'll make a note to remind myself to ask him on my phone."
She makes the note in her phone. The plane started to move.
"Here we go. 3, 2,1, takeoff!," shouted Sweetie Belle.
Every person on the plane then turned to look at the young girl and her eevee.
Belle then said "Sorry."
Does she always have to embarrass me? , thought Rarity.
After 2 long hours our heroes landed in Jubilife City the largest city in the Sinnoh region. The two got their things, and decided to head to the pokemon center to sign up for the Jubilife contest. They walked in, and walked up to Nurse Joy.
"Why hello how can I help you?," the nurse asked.
"I'd like to sign up to compete in Sinnoh pokemon contests please."
"Wonderful. So just hand me your trainer ID and your pokedex and we can get you registered."
Rarity handed the things over to her, and Joy scanned them. She handed them back.
"Here are ribbon cases which color would you like Rarity?"
"I'll pick white."
"Good choice. Here are your seal and ball capsules. Oh and now all you need to do is register using your ID at any contest hall to sign up to compete."
"Thank you so much Nurse Joy."
"You are very welcome. Have a nice day."
The two sisters walked away.
"So Rarity where are we going to sleep tonight?"
"Don't worry. The pokemon center has rooms. I already made arrangements last night for our room"
"Our room!?"
"Yes we indeed have to share, and that is how it is going to be so you better get used to it. Now, let's go call Twilight and the professors to tell that we got here safely."
The two started walk over to the video phone area when they saw three people just finishing a call. Sweetie Belle then noticed a pikachu on one of the 2 guys shoulders. She quickly ran up to it.
"Wow! A pikachu! It's so cute!," said Belle.
The three quickly turned to face Belle. The one girl then noticed Ava in Belle's arms.
"Wow. An eevee." said the girl.
She took out her pokedex, and quickly scanned eevee.
"Eevee, the evolution pokemon. Because its genetic makeup is irregular, it quickly changes its form due to a variety of causes." the dex said.
Rarity finally got to them.
"Sweetie you know not to run off without me." Rarity said.
"I know but when I saw this pikachu out of the corner of my eye I just had to see it up close."
"Oh alright. I hope my sister didn't cause you any trouble. "
"She didn't so don't worry. My names Dawn." said Dawn.
"I'm Ash and this is my best buddy pikachu."
"Pikachu!," his partner said.
"And I'm Brock a pokemon breeder."
Rarity then said,"I am Rarity, and you have already met Belle and her partner Ava. We come from the Equestria region."
"Equestria region? I have never heard of it before." said a confused Ash.
"It's north of the Sinnoh region, and has no unique pokemon that only inhabit there. Instead a variety of pokemon from all of the other regions call it home."
"Awesome! Does it have gyms!?"
"Of course it does darling. The champion of the region is Shining Armour."
"Wait! I have heard that name before!," said Dawn.
She reached into her bag and pulled out a magazine. She showed the cover and pointed to a guy on it.
"Is that him ?" asked Brock.
"Yup." replied Sweetie.
"Look at that pokemon near him. It's one I have never seen before. Could you mind telling me what it is?" said Ash.
"It's an Aegislash. Let me show you on my pokedex."
She pulled it out, and typed the pokemon's name.
The dex then said about the pokemon, "Aegislash the Royal Sword pokemon and final evolved form of honedge. Apparently, it can detect innate qualities of leadership. According to legend, whoever it recognizes is destined to become king."
"It's from the Kalos region which is west of Equestria." Belle said.
Ash then asked, "Hey look there is a girl on the cover too with a Lopunny with pink fur. Who is she?"
"Cadence ." Rarity and Dawn said at the same time.
"Cadence is a top coordinator and has won 3 grand festivals. Her partner Lopunny is just so beautiful and graceful." said Dawn.
Rarity added,"She also happens to be Shining Armour's wife as well."
"Wow. A powerful couple. Both masters of their respective fields. Just wow ." said Brock.
"So Rarity are you a pokemon coordinator?" asked Dawn.
"Yes. How could you tell?"
"I just guessed. I'm a coordinator as well."
"Splendid. Are you competing in the contest here ?"
"You bet. It's my first time too."
"Really...well what a coincidence it's my first time too. Well sort of."
"What do you mean?"
"In my hometown every year at the town's festival we have a pokemon contest. It's not official or anything but it has the same rules as Sinnoh contests. My mother is even the announcer."
"That sounds awesome. Wish Twinleaf Town had an annual contest during the festival."
"Anyways, I always win the contest mainly because I am the only one who really knows what they are doing. So I decided to come here to accomplish my dream of becoming a top coordinator."
"Well then that makes you two rivals then." said Ash.
"I guess it does. We will see you at the contest then tomorrow." said Dawn.
"Definitely. See you there rival." Rarity replied.
Ash, Dawn, and Brock walked out of the pokemon center.
Belle said, "They seemed nice didn't they Ava?"
Ava nodded.
"Now, let's get to that video call." Rarity said.
The girls called the professors and told them all about their meeting with Dawn and the others. The professors told them that everything was going well back at home. Sweetie was excited to hear that soon Scootlaoo will get her first pokemon. After the call they then saw two familiar faces at the desk with Nurse Joy.
"Is that who I think it is Rarity?" asked Belle.
Ratiy gulps and then says, "Uh ha."

"Rarity should we go say hi to them?" Belle asked.
Her sister replied,"Of course we should. I haven't seen Suri and Coco in over 5 years. They left Pokeville to pursue their dreams of becoming fashion icons. I wonder what they are doing here."
The two sisters walked over to Nurse Joy's desk. Coco then noticed them and tapped on Suri's shoulder.
"Huh. Is that... Rarity?" said Suri.
"I think so."
"Could you excuse us for a moment Nurse Joy?"
Nurse Joy answered, "Sure. It will take some time for me to get everything since I just ran out of ball capsules. I'll be back in a few minutes with them."
Joy put a sign that said temporally closed on the desk and went into the closet behind her desk and closed the door.
"I never thought I would see you two again. Isn't that right Coco?" said Suri.
"Yea."
Rarity then asked, "How have you two been?"
"We have been doing ok, but our fashion carriers aren't." said Coco.
Suri then said,"Well you see we opened a small shop here in the city, but it didn't do so well so we had to close it down. What a shame."
"What an awful thing to happen to you. I am so sorry Suri and Coco." said Rarity.
"It's ok Rarity. Really. We didn't like that job anyway." Coco replied.
Belle then asked,"So what did you do after you closed down the shop?"
"Well let me tell you little one. Coco one day at our apartment turned on the TV to last year's Hoenn Grand Festival. I saw the coordinators having so much fun making their Pokemon shine and look amazing. Then memories of me competing at the town festival started to pop up in my head. I then called my parents and asked them what I should do. They told me to do whatever I thought was best. So after hours of thinking I decided to become a Pokemon Coordinator. So for the last year Coco and me traveled all over the Kanto region together.I did manage to get to the grand festival but lost in the second round. On our journey Coco was their cheering me on while learning about the profession of a Poke Stylist."
"What is a Poke Stylist Coco?" Belle asked.
"I'd be glad to tell you. It's a different type of Pokemon Coordinator that styles both trainers and pokemon.I already had a talent for creating clothing so I decided to apply it Pokemon too. However, I'm still in training."
"I for one are very happy for you darling. So I guess that you are competing in the contest tomorrow Suri?"said Rarity.
She nodded.
"Then I look forward to competing against you, and may the best girl win!"
Nurse Joy came out with a big box labeled Ball Capsules and put it on the desk. She then took out 6 ball capsules and gave them to Suri.
"Thank you so much Nurse Joy."
"You are very welcome Suri. Have a nice day." the nurse replied.
"We will. Come on Coco let's go get me registered. Wait! Rarity would you and your sis like to come with us to sign up?"
"Well we were actually...." said Sweetie.
Rarity put her hand over her sister's mouth and then said, "We would love to accompany you. Isn't that right Sweetie?"
Sweetie Belle nodded quickly.
"Great. Come on follow me." said Coco.
So the four girls went to the contest hall and signed up for the contest. After this Sweetie and Rarity went back to the center and had some dinner. Opal, Diamond, and Ava were enjoying their Pokemon Food. Then Dawn walked up to the two in a cute pink dress and did a cute curtsy.
"So what do you two think of my dress?" Dawn asked.
"Oh my goodness. Dawn it's gorgeous! The fabric is soft but flowy. The color pops but isn't clashing with your hair, and the cute accessories are just perfect! It's lovely and you look great in it." Rarity commented.
"Thanks Rarity. My mom made it for me."
"Wow. You have one talented mother then. I just hope my dress is alright."
"I'm sure it will be. Well I have to get back to Brock and Ash. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye!"
After dinner Rarity and Sweetie headed to bed. Rarity was so nervous and anxious she couldn't sleep. So she decided to head to the Pokemon Center's roof to talk with Opal and Diamond.
"Diamond, Opal come on out." she whispered.
Opal and Diamond yawned when they came out of their balls.
"I'm so sorry for waking you both, but I just wanted to say something. I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for you two. You're the reason that I will be competing in that contest tomorrow. I just can't thank you enough. Are you two ready?"
Both nodded.
"Ok then. Just remember Diamond is our first round and Opal is second. Now, all I want is for both of you to try your best ok?"
"Glaceon. Glac." said Diamond.
"Meow. Meow." said Opal.
"Good. Now, let's head back to bed."
Rarity went back to her room, and went to bed.

Today is the day everyone has been waiting for: the day of the Jubilife City Pokemon Contest. Rarity and Sweetie Belle were at the contest hall early to get ready for the event. Sweetie helped Rarity with her hair and makeup in the dressing room. Rarity now was changing into her dress.
"So sis which dress did you bring for contests?" Belle asked.
"Well...I had a lot of choices, but I ultimately decided on one that's elegant but not too elegant. It's flashy, but no so much that it will take away attention from my Pokemon. I'm ready."
Rarity walked out from behind the changing curtain. In true Rarity fashion she made a dashing pose.
"She then said,"Well what do you think? A bit too much?"
Sweetie Belle was speechless. She then said, "Lose the mask."
Rarity took it off. Suddenly, Suri and Coco walked in.
"Oh...my..gosh. Rarity you look amazing!" said Coco
"Really?! Oh thank you so much. It took me forever to find which dress was perfect for this sort of thing. I'm glad you all like it." said Rarity
"Well Coco it's time for me to get ready." Suri stated.
Rarity then said "Belle it's time for you to head into the stands."
"What? I want to be with you!"
"I'm sorry but according to the rules you must be in the stands if not a competitor unless you have permission from the heads of the contest."
"Awe." Sweetie said as she pouted.
"Hey! I know. When Dawn gets here I'll ask her if Ash and Brock can watch you. Is that alright?"
"Yea I guess."
Sweetie and Rarity walked out of the room to see Ash, Brock, and Dawn headed down the hallway.
"Hey. It's just who I wanted to see." said Rarity.
"Rarity you look amazing! I especially like the color scheme.", said Dawn.
"Thank you very much, but I need a favor. Ash, Brock could you sit with Belle during the contest please. I would really appreciate it."
"Sure. That sounds great." said Ash.
"Thank you so much. Now, Belle don't get into any trouble. That goes for you two Ava."
They both nodded.
"We will make sure she's alright. Good luck to you both in the first round. I know you both will be great!" said Brock.
"Right!" the girls replied.
So Ash and Brock took Belle to their seats, and Rarity headed to the waiting room where the other competitors were. Some were doing last minute grooming and feeding with their Pokemon. Suri came in the room after 30 minutes wearing a gorgeous dress with the upper being a bright tea fabric with a silver ring holding the fabric. The bottom of the dress had a purple fancy swirl print, and the bottom didn't extend out to far. It was fit to her body. Her hair was in a cute bun with a purple headband. Her shoes were teal flats.
"So do you like my dress?" Suri asked.
"I...I love it! Did you make this?"
"Actually Coco made it for me. It's totally amazing isn't it, and is the best dress here."
Rarity started to get angry, but kept her cool.
"Well good for you. Now, if you excuse me I must head to the dressing room to fix my....my.... eyelashes. Yea! My eyelashes. Gotta go! "
She ran quickly into the dressing room to see Dawn being helped by an orange haired girl wearing a white and gold suit.
"Thanks for helping me Zoey. You really saved me." said Dawn.
Zoey replied "No problem. Well good luck Dawn."
As Zoey was walking out of the room she said, "Nice dress."
Rarity said "Thank you so much. I made it my... Huh? Where did she go?"
"I guess she went to the waiting room. Come on the contest is about to start."
The two now were in the dressing room staring at the TV monitor. The TV then started up with the whole stadium in darkness except for a spotlight in the center. From under the stage came a tall woman with curly light orange hair wearing a large yellow dress. She was holding the microphone.
"Ladies and Gentlemen I Marian your announcer welcome you all to the beautiful Jubilife City and to the Jubilife City Pokemon Contest!" said Marian.
The lights came up and the stage was large with a purple curtain as a backdrop. The crowd cheered loudly.
"Coordinators and their Pokemon are competing for this lovely Jubilife Ribbon!"
Marian held up the ribbon.
"When a coordinator manages to collect five ribbons, they are eligible to compete in the Grand Festival. If you manage to win that you receive the coveted title of Top Coordinator. So winning this contest is one step closer to the Grand Festival! Now, it's time to introduce our amazing judges, and here they are!"
The curtain from behind the stage opened and standing there were two men and Nurse Joy.
"First is the man who makes this all possible Mr.Contesta head of the Pokemon Contest Committee!"
The crowd cheered for him.
Mr.Contesta then said,"Thank you. I look forward to see how well pokemon and coordinator work together."
"Next up is the head of the Pokemon Fan Club Mr.Sukizo!"
"Remarkable is the word. Thanks." he said.
The crowd cheered.
"And last but certainly not least Jubilife's own Nurse Joy!"
"Thank you. I am excited to see all of the wonderful pokemon!"
The crowd cheered the loudest for her. Brock in the stands with Belle and Ash started to go crazy.
"Oh. Nurse Joy you will be mine!"
Suddenly, out of nowhere Brock's croagunk uses Poison Jab on Brock.
"Maybe I should have stayed in bed today." Brock said as he fell to the ground.
"What was that about?" Belle asked.
"It's a long story." Ash said.
"Ok, but one of these days we will make time so you can tell me."
"Sure."
Marian then explained,"Alright now that introductions are out of the way time for the first round. In this round Coordinators have their Pokemon performing their moves in order to showcase their beauty and talent."
"Dawn dear where is Zoey?" Rarity asked.
"I don't know. She said she was going to compete."
"And now, for contestant number one Zoey!" Marian said.
The curtain opened and Zoey was standing still. She took her Poke Ball and was ready to start.
She shouted as she threw her Poke Ball," Misdreavus curtain!"
The ball opened with a cloud of smoke from the seal on the ball capsule. Misdreavus was in the smoke, and all you could see was the silhouette."
"Use Double Team."
The ghost pokemon made four copies and they started to circle around the real one.
"What a perfect way to show off her pokemon. Don't you agree Dawn?" Rarity commented.
"Yea so mysterious." said Dawn.
Suri in the corner thought, I could do better. Just wait till it's my turn. I will blow everyone away!
"Let me check it out on my dex Rarity." said Dawn.
The dex said, "Misdreavus, the Screech Pokémon. Misdreavus loves being mischievous by pulling people's hair and shocking them."
Back on the stage Zoey put her hand up and said,"Now, Confuse Ray!"
The real misdreavus' silhouette started to glow a bright purple. Suddenly, the copies were dispatched with their gems glowing thus the smoke cloud was destroyed.
"Wow! That was awesome!" said Belle.
"Eevee!" said Ava.
"She really knows what she is doing." said Ash.
Zoey then said,"Finish up with a Shock Wave!"
The ghost pokemon started to glow a bright yellow and looked electrified. It then sent out several waves of electricity.
Zoey's sure tough. She is not only showing her pokemon perfectly, but she is also showing how powerful they are too. She's going to be hard to beat thought Rarity.
After several waves sparkles created from the attacks fell from the sky showering both Zoey and her pokemon. Misdreavus landed on her trainer's hand to finish the performance.
The crowd cheered really loud. A few of them chanted Zoey's name.
Marian then said,"It's almost like Misdreavus and Zoey were joined at the hip. Electrifying!"
"Showing her pokemon in silhouette made for a really well done performance." Mr. Contesta said.
Mr.Sukizo added,"And Remarkable."
"What a way to show off her pokemon and it's moves. Totally first rate!" said Joy.
Marian then said,"You don't hear Nurse Joy say first rate all that often so when you do it's a rave! Now, it's time for our next contestant!"
After ten people went it was finally time for Suri's performance. Coco was watching intently from the stands.
"Now, it's time for the Sinnoh contest debut of contestant number eleven Suri!" Marian said into the Mic.
The curtain opened once again and Suri had a confident smile on her face.
"Let's see how much if you have changed at all Suri." Rarity mumbled.
"Did you say something?" asked Dawn.
"Oh. It's nothing darling."
"Isn't this girl your friend?"
"Yes. She is from my hometown, but she left a long time ago."
"Isn't that interesting." said Zoey.
The girls turned to see Zoey with her glameow.
"Oh I never got to introduce myself earlier. My name is Rarity Mclane. A pleasure to meet you Zoey. Great job by the way"
"The pleasure is all mine Rarity. So how long have you known her for?"
"Quite a while. She used to be the one to win our town's contests."
"Huh?" said Dawn and Zoey.
Suri then said,"Leavanny appear before us!"
She threw her ball, and Leavanny appeared with flower petals surrounding her as she landed on the stage.
"Oh my! It's not every day you see a Leavanny in a Sinnoh contest. So this will be a real treat." Marian said.
"What is that Pokemon Rarity?"
"Just let me show you on my dex."
She scanned it. Zoey and Dawn were ready to hear what it says.
It said,"Leavanny, the Nurturing Pokémon and the evolved form of Swadloon. When Leavanny finds a small Pokémon it makes clothing for it with its arm cutters, using leaves and sticky silk."
"Now, use Sunny Day!" Suri shouted.
"Leavanney!" the pokemon said as it shot a golden energy ball straight up. It created a sparkling surge of lights.
"What gorgeous Sunny day!" Marian said.
"Let's show them your Bug Buzz! Go!"
The pokemon's arms started to glow red and shockwaves of that same red color were sent out. Once they collided with the Sunny Day, they absorbed the sparkle and started to look even flashier.
"Leavanny dance for us please." Suri commanded.
Using the waves created by the Bug Buzz like ribbon Leavanny starts a ribbon dance. The crowd was in awe by the stunning dance.
"What a way to show off Leavanny. So unique." Zoey said.
Rarity then said, "Not that unique."
"Come again?"
"This is the same routine that Suri did every year at our annual contest."
"Huh?"
"Now, for the big finish. Toss the Bug Buzz in the air."
The pokemon twirled the ribbons and then threw them straight up.
"Use Solar Beam!"
Since Sunny Day was in effect, the beam took no time to charge. She fired it straight from her mouth. The beam hit the ribbons and once they collided it showered the stage with red and yellow sparkles. Finally the bug/grass Pokemon made a nice ballerina pose.
The crowd cheered really loud. It was louder than all of the ones from the previous performances.
"And with a cute pose from Leavanny this unique and wonderful performance ends." said Marian.
"Using the entire stage to help show off her Pokemon is just what I like to see." Mr.Contesta said.
Mr.Sikuzo "Very Remarkable indeed."
"A Pokemon ribbon dance how graceful!" said Nurse Joy!
"Now, for our next contestant!" said Marian.
"I hate to admit it but that was pretty good." said Sweetie.
"Yea. She really knows how to use the entire stage. A great skill to have." Brock added.
"Sure it was good, but Dawn and Rarity's will be way better right buddy?"
"Pikachu!"
"Yea. You're right Ash! When do they go on Brock?" Sweetie asked.
"According to this pamphlet they gave us Dawn is 29th and Rarity is 30th. The last two to go."
"Perfect! They are saving the best for last!"
"Yea. I can't wait!"
After 18 more fierce competitors took the stage, it was finally time for Dawn to go. She was pretty nervous, but Rarity reassured her that she would be fine. She was behind the curtain waiting for Marian to announce her.
"Alright folks the rounds almost over, but let's keep that fantastic energy up. Next, is a competitor from the small town of Twinleaf. She is the daughter of former Top Coordinator Johanna, and it's time for her debut! Now, presenting number twenty nine Dawn!"
When the curtain went up and Dawn felt really nervous when she could see the stadium full of people. She thought, No need to worry. No need to worry. You'll be fine!
"Ok it's time. Now, piplup spotlight!" she said cheerfully.
The ball opened and the little Penguin Pokemon appeared with bubbles surrounding it. The bubbles bounced off the stage and started heading in the air.
"Use Bubblebeam!"
Piplup fired a large Bubblebeam and the bubbles made from it combined with seal's bubbles. The bubbles were spinning like a tornado.
"Peck!"
Piplup's beck started to glow, but then it reached out making it bigger along with the point at the end.
"Not bad." said Zoey.
"Alright Piplup let's go!" Dawn said as she pointed towards the sky.
Piplup quickly started to pop the bubbles one by one with it's long beak. It was so fast you could barely see it happening. Once all the bubbles were gone the sparkles from them came from the air and showered over piplup and Dawn. Piplup made a cute pose with Dawn.
"And a cute pose finishes off this cute routine!" Marian exclaimed
"What a blend of tough and cute. It kept me interested the whole time!" Mr.Contesta commented.
Mr.Sukizo said,"It's remarkable!"
"That performance really showed piplup's talents. Well done indeed!" Nurse Joy said.
"Great job Dawn!" shouted Ash.
"Piplup you were great!" said Brock.
"What they said!" shouted Belle.
Dawn and piplup walked out of the stage into the hallway behind the stage. They then saw Rarity there.
"Great job Dawn." said Rarity.
"Thank you. To be honest I am relieved that it is over. Know that I will be cheering for you all the way!"
"Thanks."
The two high fived and Rarity walked on to the part of the stage that was behind the curtain.
"Everynone it's time for our final performance of the day. This is another girl making her contest debut. Hailing from the Equestria region and originally from Pokeville here is the contestant number thirty Rarity!" said Marian.
The curtain opened, and Rarity walked a few steps while waving. She then pulled out her Pokeball and kissed it.
"Our time has come Diamond. I know you won't let me down." she whispered.
"Alright time to start! Diamond it's time for you to show everyone your fabulous!" she said as she threw the ball.
Diamond came out surrounded by snowflakes from the seal and did two front flips and then landed on the stage.
"What an entrance! Time to see what Diamond can do!" said Marian.
"Darling time for Ice Beam."
"Glaceeeeeon!"
Diamond froze the entire stage. In the center was a circle of pointed ice structures in the middle.
"Wow your sis really knows what she is doing." said Ash,
"Hmph. If you think this is good just wait and see what's next." said Belle.
"Diamond skate around the stage using Quick Attack."
Diamond nodded to her trainer, and started to skate. She jumped over the rocks and flipped. The fans were really into it.
"Skating with grace. Just what I'd expect from a well-trained ice type Pokemon." said Zoey.
Dawn replied, "You're right. Just amazing."
"Alright now jump!" Rarity said.
Diamond jumped into the air and flipped a few more times and landed in the center of the stage.
"Time to show everyone what you do best. Freeze your fur!"
Glaceon's fur slowly turned into icicles. She froze it in a way that made it look like a dress made of ice.
"This is spectacular! Diamond has frozen it's fur into a beautiful dress of ice! Truly a sight to behold." Marian said.
The crowd cheered loudly. Ash, Brock, Suri, Dawn, and Zoey were in shock by what Diamond just did. They were all very impressed. Suri got really envious.
"Time for our final move. Use Hidden Power!"
Bright pink orbs surrounded Diamond and the light reflecting off the hidden power reflected off the dress causing it to sparkle and shine beautifully. The other ice of the field eventually had the same shine and sparkle. Diamond made the Didden Power collide with each other causing sparkles to rain down on itself.
Marian then said "An amazing end to an amazing performance. Let's hear it for Diamond and Rarity!"
The crowd cheered loudly and started to clap.
"You were great as always." said Rarity.
Sweetie shouted,"Great job sis! Wohoo!"
"Eevee! Eevee!"
"Way to go!" Ash shouted.
Back in the waiting room. Dawn was talking with Zoey.
"Zoey why was that Hidden Power pink?" Dawn asked.
"Simple. Hidden Power is a move where it's attack type varies among different Pokemon. Since it was pink I'm guessing that Diamond has a psychic type Hidden Power."
"Awesome."
"Never have I seen a performance that uses ice so perfectly. Well done." Mr.Contesta said.
Mr.Sukizo commented, "Yes, and remarkable as well."
"A dress made out of ice. So enchanting." said Joy.
"Folks that is it for Round 1. Now, in a few minutes we will see which eight coordinators are moving on to Round Two! Stay tuned!" said Marian.
When Rarity and Diamond walked into the waiting room everyone started to clap.
"Thank you all very much. You're making me blush." Rarity said.
Zoey and Dawn walked up to her.
"I have to say for your official first time you did amazing." said Zoey.
"Well thank you Zoey darling. Did you like it Dawn?"
"Liked it?.....I loved it! It was absolutely amazing. How did Diamond learn to do freeze it's fur in the shape of a dress?"
"Well it wasn't easy, but before I left Equestria I wanted to perfect that move. Practice does make perfect you know."
Diamond jumped in Rarity's arms.
"Diamond thank you very much." Rarity said while hugging her Pokemon.
"Glac. Glac."
"Thank you all for being patient." Marian said on the TV.
"We now have the results to the first round. And here they are!"
Who will make it Round Two? Who will win the Jubilife Ribbon? Will Rarity win her first ribbon? These questions and more will be answered as the story continues.
