Sugarcube Corner was unusually lively this afternoon as the ponies inside hastily gathered last minute luggage for the journey ahead. "Now you're sure you got everything handled?" Mrs. Cake asked, pushing a baby pram with the excitable Pumpkin and Pound cake inside. The two babies were wrapped in blankets to keep them warm during the cooling day.
"It's not the first time I've closed shop, Mrs. Cake," Pinkie said with a big smile.
Mrs. Cake blinked once at the pink pony, not entirely convinced. "Are you sure? Know what you need to do?"
"Yes, Mrs. Cake," Pinkie said as she counted out a mental list of tasks. The same tasks she was told about about ten times now. "Lock the front door, turn the open sign to close, lock the register, pack away the sweets. Easy peasy!"
"Well alright," Mrs. Cake said with an uncertain sigh.
"Don't worry about me! You four have a good time!"
"Come on, lemon pie! We need to go!" Mr. Cake called out as he carried two bags to the taxi.
"Coming!" Mrs. Cake called out before turning back to Pinkie, "last chance to come with us, Pinkie. We could always use an extra set of hooves."
"You have the twins to help you out!" Pinkie joked with a laugh, "besides, somepony's gotta hold down the fort here."
With some coaxing from Pinkie Pie, Mrs. Cake pushed the pram to the taxi and climbed in with the twins in tow.
"Goodbye Pinkie," Mr. Cake called out before the taxi pony pulled away from the house.
"Bye Mr. Cake! By Mrs. Cake!" Pinkie waved excitably to the passing taxi, steadily yelling louder as the carriage got farther away, "Bye Pound!! Bye Pumpkin!!!"
The excitable mare kept waving until the taxi was well on it's way, barely visible to the eye. As soon as the waving was done, Pinkie bolted into the shop, locking the door behind her and changing the open sign to closed.

"It did. How about you? How was it holding down the fort?"

"Ah, I see you helped yourself to some of the brownies," Mrs. Cake nodded towards the metal tray that sat on the counter, a couple of the squares were missing.
"Mhmm, don't worry though, I put the money in the cash register."
"How were they? Carrot was trying out a new recipe."
"They were...Soft...And squishy." Pinkie answered, holding back a shy giggle.
"I need to change Pound. He pooped himself during the taxi ride back." Mrs. Cake gently pulled the pegasus colt out of the pram and held him in her hooves. "Didn't even wake up from his nap, can you believe that?"
Pinkie shrugged, "guess he didn't mind the feeling."
"I suppose so. Thank you for watching the shop," Mrs. Cake said with a nod before carrying the sleeping colt upstairs.
"No problem. I look forward to doing it again some time!" Pinkie called out with a smile. 'I hope that stallion comes back for a visit soon too,' Pinkie teased herself. She looked forward to the next time she'd have the house to herself.
