A ponies guide to the galaxy
Fluttershy awoke to the rumble of nearby thunder, quite a few things scared the yellow pegasai, and thunder was no exception, she pulled her blanket back over her head in an attempt to drown out the sound that frightened her so. It isn’t a bad thing to be scared, especially of something as terrifying as thunder, but it’s important to not let your fear stop you from doing what you need to do, and no pony knew this better than Fluttershy. Determined not to waste the day ahead, Fluttershy threw off her covers and hopped out of bed, only to immediately dive straight back in after another, much louder rumble echoed through the air. Fluttershy reached over to her beside cabinet and opened the draw and pulled out a set of ear defenders. Placing them over her ears Fluttershy immediately felt calmer and climbed out of bed for a second time.
Fluttershy set out to do her daily chores, feeding the chickens, cleaning out the bird bath, giving the bear a shower, the sort of chores one would normally do on a Tuesday. Realising she was now out of chicken feed, Fluttershy decided to go into town to get some.
Still wearing her ear defenders, Fluttershy wandered through the market stalls, even in cloudy weather, Ponyville still looked beautiful. The stalls were filled with ponies selling everything, from cheese cake to sheep manure, Ponyville was most defiantly a wonderful place to live in. As Fluttershy approached her stall, a pink blur suddenly knocked her onto her back, causing her ear defenders to fall off. Fluttershy looked up to see Pinkie Pie looking down at her, she seemed distressed, not her usual chirpy self.
“Fluttershy, thank goodness I’ve found you, quickly you’ve got to come with me” Pinkie Pie said pullng Fluttershy to her feet.
“Oh, what's the matter Pinkie Pie?” Fluttershy asked concerned for her friend.
“I’ll explain later but right now we need to get you some cider” Pinkie Pie replied pulling Fluttershy down the path.
Fluttershy looked down at the mug of cider that sat in front of her, it was barely eleven O’clock and Pinkie Pie had already finished three mugs.
“Um, Pinkie Pie?” Fluttershy said as she turned to face her, “I was wondering what you were so worried about earlier?”
“Aliens” Pinkie Pie said slamming her fourth now empty mug onto the table.
“Aliens?” Fluttershy said in confusion, “do you mean like, ponies from another country kind of aliens?”
“What? No of course not, I’m talking about space alien, aliens” Pinkie Pie picked up a fifth mug and brought it to her mouth.
Fluttershy was now even more confused, “your saying, you’re worried about creatures, from another planet?”
“Yes,” Pinkie pie turned, her eyes were serious, Fluttershy had never seen Pinkie this serious before, “you see Flutters, these aliens are part of an intergalactic council who want to destroy the whole world to make room for shopping centres and supermarkets.”
“Why would they destroy a whole planet just to build a shopping centre?”
“They have very big shopping centres Flutters, there’s like, thirty seven Starbucks on every floor, and they have a lot of floors Fluttershy, and that adds up to a lot of coffee, and you know how I am with coffee.”
Pinkies stare became thinner and more intimidating “so why are we in a bar, drinking cider?” Fluttershy asked nervously.
“Muscle relaxant,” Pinkie pie said nudging a still full glass towards Fluttershy.
“Um, why do we need muscle relaxant?”
“Because teleportation to alien spaceships can be really uncomfortable, so we want to be as limp as possible.”
“Wait, we’re teleporting to an alien spaceship?!” Fluttershy exclaimed almost jumping out of her chair.
“Yep, we’re going to hitch a ride on the next ship and head on over to the horsehead nebulae to protest the demolition of our home” Pinkie Pie put her fifth empty mug down.
“It’s going to be you and me Fluttershy, you and me against the universe” Pinkie put her arm round the trembling Fluttershy’s shoulder.
“Um, maybe we should go get the others” Fluttershy suggested nervously sipping her cider.
“No time, the next ship passes in four minutes, and we have to get that one if we’re going to get to the council in time to stop the demolition.”
Fluttershy stared down at her cider, only to see her reflection looking back at her, all she wanted to do today was buy some chicken feed and look after her animals, not go into space, but Pinkie pie needed her, and Fluttershy was never one to turn down a friend in need.
“Okay Pinkie Pie, I’ll help you stop the aliens.”
“Awesome, let us drink to celebrate” Pinkie Pie said finishing what appeared to be her seventh mug of cider, where she promptly proceeded to collapse.
