If there was a creature in Equestria that could presume to know everything, it would be Discord. But even he could allow some surprise into his life.
An example would be the strange place his little story brought him to. A cave carved out of diamond with very familiar symbols all over the place. Six to be precise, all of them known to him. This place was no what surprised him but the familiar creature he shared it with. An elongated form of pure white, with an equine horse like his. A robe of all colors known to ponykind… and those only known to him covered whatever limbs she had. She was definitely like him. A draconequus.
“We are glad you accepted our invitation”
Upon hearing those words, surprise left Discord and was replaced with amusement.
“Well, I do not remember receiving an invitation but I would have preferred not to come. This party seems a tad bit boring to my liking”
She laughed at this, “Oh, but we would have come”
Discord frowned for a second before returning to his usual grin.
“So, what does good ol’ precious Harmony want with me?”
“Celestia will call you to track the centaur Tirek”
Discord could not help but laugh. He laughed so hard that soon he was on the ground, holding his stomach at the unimportance of this. After long minutes (and Harmony silent and stoic face being a moodkiller), Discord stood to mock her for how long he could, which would be short (he knew).
“Piece of cake, in fact”; and with a snap of his fingers, a piece of cake appeared which he began eating with gusto.
“Your predictability is charming, as always”
“Predictabi…? I’ll let you know that the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony is many things. Clown? Yes. Soul of the party? Absolutely. The guy dressed in the banana suit? Why not? But predictable is not one of them.
Harmony just smiled; “We always end up having this conversation, right?”
“What converstion dear?”; said the draconequus in the banana clown suit with the party hat.
“Nevermind. We need ponykind to be betrayed in favour of Tirek.”
Discord’ surprise returned. It was obviously pointed out to Harmony by his jaw, which was flat on the ground.

“So our Avatar of Friendship may obtain her key. Now that we are in that subject, show them where are the others. Thanks."

"Tirek would betray me and steal my magic"
"Our magic is well secured"
"Not mine; and before the narration point it out, that was deapanned."
Harmony chuckled. Indeed this was part of the cartoonish way of Discord. And what could be more predictable than a cartoon? It was formula. Sure, there were variations, but always formula in the end. So orderly. So harmonious. And Harmony? Harmony received power from the emotions of the avatars. Honesty, obstinate in itself even when one could not benefit from it. Generosity, whose limits where shown in conflict with the necessary selfishness. Kindness, which can derive from the most simplest of cruelty. Loyalty, conflictive and conflictive due to its capacity to choose. Laughter, do we need to point it out? And Friendship; the great culmination of the sheer chaos of the others. Ponykind would find it ironic.
"Ok, they get it. You and I live in perpetual irony. Jeez. That was predictable."
"My existance is coming to an end. Celestia will awake us soon"
Discord just regarded her wih a look of seriousness.
"You are not real, are you?"
"No"
"This is just a dream in which I, as you, tell me what to do, then I forget because of denial or some convenient deus ex machina?"
"Indeed"
"Lame 'artistic' stuff. Almost seems forced"
Did it matter? We... I am what I am, even if I do not want it. Even if I am nothing more than a tool. I will gladly do it. I will gladly be Harmony, for them, as I have always been as long as I can be...
