Who is Dusk Chaser?

The three foals are sleeping soundly. The previous flying lessons tired them out, especially Dusk. Today was the day they learned ow to perform magic. Unfortunately, Dusk can't perform magic, due to him being a bat-pony. "Wakey-wakey my little ponies." said Rose Heart. No response was given, they were still all soundly asleep. "Come on now, you would not want to miss magic lessons would you?" said Rose Heart. At this point, Luna and Celestia were slightly awake. Dusk however, pretended to sleep.

"Do we have to?" asked a half awake Luna.

"Yes, being alicorns, you and your sister need to learn how to control your magic." said Rose Heart.

"Come on Dusk, wake up." said Luna, nudging Dusk in an futile attempt to wake him up.

"But what about Dusk? He doesn't have a unicorn horn." said Celestia pointing to Dusk's head. Dusk grumbled.

"Do you really need to remind me Tia?" said an annoyed Dusk, still under their blanket.

"Dusk, even though you can't perform magic, you need to study about spells." said Rose Heart.

"Why would I need to know that?" asked Dusk.

"As soon as magic lessons are over, you three will be old enough to join regular classes. Magic is just one of the subjects you need to take." said Rose Heart in a matter-of-factly manner.

"Fine." said Dusk, now fully awake.

With that, the three fillies, accompanied by Rose Heart, walked over to the MCCTF. The MCCTF or Magic Control Center for Talented Foals was where young royalty would learn to control their magic. This center can only be opened by magic. The spell to open the door was fairly simple, every unicorn or alicorn in the royal family to be born has the instinct to perform the spell. Celestia entered first, casting her very first spell. Luna followed second, using her magic to open the door, and perform her first spell. "Hey how do I enter?" asked Dusk unable to enter due to the lack of magic.

"I think I can help." Dusk looked behind him.

"Queen Sunshine, what are you doing here?" asked Dusk.

"I wanted to watch your magic training," Queen Sunshine said in reply, "Besides, I'm your trainer."

"I'm not going to cast any spells, I'm not a unicorn or an alicorn." said Dusk.

"Still, you ARE going to study are you not?" asked Queen Sunshine.

"Yes, but-" said Dusk, only to be cut short by the Queen.

"Very well then, I have changed the spell to open the door, it will allow you to enter anytime. All you have to do is flap your wings." said Queen Sunshine starting the spell. An orange aura surrounded Dusk, suddenly, the door was surrounded by the same aura. When everything was back to normal, Dusk looked around.

"Did it work?" asked Dusk.

"Why don't you find out?" said Rose Heart. Dusk started to flap his wings. *flap* *flap* *flap* *flap* *flap* Suddenly, the doors opened.

"It worked!" shouted Dusk, running towards his friends. Now that everypony was inside, magic training started.

"Alright everypony, let's start with transformation of objects." said Queen Sunshine putting an orange in the front of the room. "All you have to do is think of the object you want the orange to turn into." said Rose Heart, demonstrating the spell. A red aura surrounded the orange. Suddenly, the orange turned into an apple. Celestia went first, she concentrated on her magic. A very light gold aura surrounded another orange. Suddenly, the orange turned into...

"YAY, CAKE!!!" shouted Celestia as she proceeded to eat the cake.

"Alright, who's next?" asked Queen Sunshine.

"Ooh, ooh, me, me, pick me!" said an excited Luna. A moderate cobalt blue aura surrounded yet another orange. Suddenly, the orange turned into...

"Hooway! Cookies!" said Luna running towards th pile of choco chip cookies, devouring every single one, except for one, which she offers to Dusk.

"Thanks Lulu" said Dusk eating the cookie. "What about me? What do I do?" asked Dusk.

"You could read these spell books." said Queen Sunshine.

"Oh, okay." said Dusk slightly disappointed.

Three months passed and Luna and Celestia got better at controlling their magic. Dusk on the other hand, was getting bored of reading spell books. While Luna and Celestia could perform almost any spell, Dusk memorized almost every spell Celestia and Luna could perform. Even though Dusk hated reading about spells, Dusk really liked studying about defense and protective spells. In a few days, the foals would take their final magic exam, any pony who passes the exam will receive a special prize.

"Dusk, Dusk, are you awake?" asked Luna.

"Huh? Who dat?" said a still sleepy Dusk.

"Dusk, it's the day of our magic exam." said Luna, clearly excited.

"Five more minutes." said Dusk.

"DUSK WAKE UP!" shouted Luna in the ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE!

"OKAY, OKAY, I'M UP!" repplied Dusk in the ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE!

"Let's go!" replied Luna, happy at her accomplishment.

"Do you want me to carry you again?" asked Dusk.

"Nah, I'm fine, I need to practice levitation anyway." said Luna. And with that, Luna and Dusk proceeded to go to the MCCTF testing area.

"Hey, where's Tia?" asked Dusk, wondering why Celestia wasn't with them.

"She had to practice teleportation." replied Luna, still levitating. Soon enough they arrived.

"After you milady." said Dusk flapping his wings to open the door for Luna.

"Why thank you good sir." replied Luna, giggling with a slight blush. Dusk flapped his wings some more to let himself in.

"Okay my little ponies, to finish the test, you need to make it past this maze. The maze is filled with obstacles that will test your magic." said Queen Sunshine.

"Dusk, you on the other hand will do a different maze, this maze will test your ability of knowing what spell to use. This means you will have the same challenge as Celestia and Luna, except that you don't need to cast spells. All you have to do is think of what spell to do, since the maze is magical, the maze will react to the spells you think of." said Rose Heart.

"You will not have the ability to use your wings." said Queen Sunshine.

"If you want to fly, you would have to use a levitation spell." said Rose Heart.

"Whomever accomplishes this test will receive the ability to cast one spell that you currently not perform. However, if you fail the test you will forget the spell that you last used." said Queen Sunshine.

"Dusk, since you have not performed any spells, if you fail, you will lose your ability to fly."

Celestia went first. Her first challenge was to sneak past some trolls, Celestia used an invisibility spell. Next up, she had to unlock a door whose lock was way higher than what she could reach, Celestia used a levitation spell on the key to lift it up to the lock. After a few more challenges, Celestia passed. "Celestia, you passed. What spell would you like to learn?" asked Queen Sunshine.

"I want to be able to raise the sun, just like you." replied Celestia.

"Very well." said Queen Sunshine, granting Celestia the ability to raise the sun.

Luna went next. Her first task was to get past some baby dragons, Luna used a transformation spell so that she could pass without bothering the dragons. Secondly, Luna had to cross a pool of lava, she used a fireproof spell to safely cross. After tons more spells, Luna finally passed. "My dear Luna, what spell would you like to learn?" asked Queen Sunshine.

"I want to learn how to raise the moon and stars  like daddy does!" exclaimed an excited Luna.

"Of course." said Queen sunshine, giving Luna the ability to raise the moon and stars.

"Dusk you are next." said Rose Heart.

"O-ok." said a nervous Dusk.

Dusk's first challenge was to phase through a wall, Dusk immediately thought of the intangibility spell. The magic wall reacted to his thought and let Dusk pass. Second up, Dusk had to stop an ambush by teenage dragons, Dusk thought of using a time freeze spell, sure enough, the dragons froze mid-air. After tons of challenges more, Dusk finally passed. "Dusk, you passed the test, what spell would you like to learn?" asked Queen Sunshine.

"But you don't have a horn, how would you cast it?" asked Luna.

"While you two performed magic, I used the knowledge on spells to create a spell that only I, and the ponies I pass it onto can use." said Dusk.

"Very well, what spell is this?" asked Queen Sunshine.

"It's a spell that shields any amount of ponies from any magic except their own. I created it so that I could protect my loved ones." said Dusk.

"I will grant you this power." said Queen Sunshine. And with that, Dusk learned his only spell.
