You sluggishly stood up from your seat and reached for your empty backpack that was resting on the net above your head. Your father thought you were at school, so you had no other choice but to take it with you, but now that you looked outside you figured that man was probably still asleep, like always. You quickly shoved open the door of your coupe and looked out the window in front of you, showing life in Canterlot as it started to bloom. All over the station there were huge clusters of people, most of them probably businessmen, cramming themselves into whatever entrance they could find. Yep, this is definitely my stop.
You hopped of the train and started walking towards the exit, being careful not to trip over any of the suitcases or children that were darting through the crowd. It were these kind of moments that made you happiest. Even though you were the tallest person in the station, literally nobody took any notice of you. Like a silent ghost that wanted to get away from everything. Which was both a virtue and a vice in a city as big as Canterlot. Though it was much easier to get by without being harassed by little children or asian tourists who were completely taken away by your impressive height, it was also much harder to get anyone's attention. Not that it really mattered to you, but it still hurt you.
As the entire population tried to squeeze itself in a single coupe you were staring over the street vendors and local marketplace in an attempt to look for the huge campus that was supposed to be near the train-station, but it was nowhere to be seen. Now all that's left was plan B. You took the letter out of your back pocket and tried to comprehend whatever was written on the piece of paper.It took you a while to find the directions but you could finally start walking going somewhere.
As you exited the station you began to wonder why you even got that letter in the first place, considering you grew up in a town that was notorious for petty larceny and violence. But you didn't have time to think about that anymore, because a gust of wind snatched the directions from your hands. Damnit. Out of all the times fate could screw me, it just had to be now. Guess I better start finding a place where they sell maps.
While you were asking around for a place they sell maps you noticed that almost everyone's wearing those flashy designer clothes that you could probably never afford, But frankly you couldn't care less. What a waste of money you thought to yourself. It almost seemed like everyone here was telepathic, because they were all glaring at you the moment the dirty expression on your face disappeared into the shadows of your cap. It didn't take long before one couple decided to walk up to you and started criticising your outfit.
The guy was about 1.80, though his grey hair probably added a few centimeters as he pranced towards you in one of the most pedantic ways you have ever seen. Even though you were 1.85, you could still see his boogers. His wife was just as arrogant as him. Her head held up high, a dress that looked like it was more expensive than a mortgage and a pair of high heels that a stripper would be envious of. "What in the world do you think you're wearing, you filthy hillbilly?" He snarled with a poorly executed british accent.
You didn't feel like starting a fight so you just kept on walking, but they were determined to destroy every bit of self-confidence you had. "Go back to the ghetto where you belong!" "Texas called. They want their awful clothes back!" the retorts just kept on coming.
Don't they have anything better to do? you asked yourself, but for some reason they still managed to dig to your self-confidence. You could finally inspect yourself when you were walking right past a mirror vendor just around the corner. You didn't really know what was wrong with walking around in a white vest with a striped blue shirt underneath, dark blue jeans, black sneakers with green accents and a baseball cap, but apparently that is illegal ,according to those oboxious twats.
"Your mother didn't love you if she made you wear that." The guy suddenly said.
The exact moment you heard him say mother you felt an extreme rage build up inside you. So you decided to do the only thing that could justify that audacious remark.
You walked back, grabbed the posh bastard by the throat and slammed him right into the marble pillar of the store beind him, making him collapse right in front of you. But you weren't done yet. You put your right foot against his face and forced the back of his head into the pillar with just enough pressure to not squeeze his nose back in his skull. He was as surprised as his wife, seeing as she was frozen in place.
"Listen here you little shit. My mother was a saint and if you EVER dare to make fun of her again, I will break every bone in your body, go to your home, and light your entire wardrobe on fire! Do you understand?!" The only reaction you got was a muffled sound coming from underneath your shoe "I'll take that as a yes."
You let your foot go and looked him in the eyes, they were trembling so much that it looked like he was about to piss himself Self-centered, condescending prick.
You saw a little kiosk a few yards further. I wonder if they sell any streetmaps.. Luckily they did. You put your hands in your pockets and strolled over to the place like nothing ever happened. "Excuse me, could I have one of those streetmaps?" you asked in the most benign way.
The vendor turned around and calmly handed you one of the maps, but you could see from the look in his eyes that he saw what happened a few minutes earlier. What surprised you the most was that he looked like he was glad you beat him up.
"Here you go son. By the way, I noticed how you decided to beat up that prissy guy. I must say you've got guts." he said with a small smile on his face.
"Well, he did insult my mother," you said. "Come to think of it, who was that guy?"
"That's Jet Set, he's an upperclassmen from canterlot. At least, that's what he thinks. And his wife is Upper Crust, the only reason she's with him is because she thinks he is the owner of a few of those stores."
"So in other words, he has a superiority complex and she is just a gold-digger."
"Exactly. But I've been dying to ask you, what brings you here to Canterlot?"
"How did you know I'm not from around here?" you asked in a surprised tone
"I noticed from your lack of attitude. Most people that are born in Canterlot are stuck-up fashionistas who believe the world revolves around them."
"I can't blame them. This is one of the most elite cities in this country." you said with a smile at the end.
You took out your cellphone and checked the time. Since you didn't have to be at the university at 13:00 you should have enough time to walk. However, your phone read 12:37.
"Shit! I'm going to be late for my meeting."
"Who are you meeting?"said the vendor in a curious tone.
"I have a meeting with principal Celestia from Canterlot University."
"Just go right at the next intersection and keep walking straight ahead. It's impossible to miss."
"Thanks pal, maybe someday we meet again." You said before darting off. Just before you got out of sight you turned around and gave him a small wave of goodbye. Good thing not everyone in Canterlot thinks that I'm just some scum. You thought as you jolted down the corner as you heard a police car rounding the corner.
