Fallout Equestria: The Fading flame
I quickly galloped through the smoke filled stable hallways. Stable 79's floors burnt and smelt of burning metal, also did I mention just a bit of death? Well what I imagined death to smell like was the smell of burning bodies, but still a good guess of what death smelt like. I heard the shrieks of fillies, mares, stallions and colts. Oh goddesses.. I just had to let myself keep the damn oven on? No seriously, all of Stable 79 could die from an oven explosion. Boy.. wouldn't that be something?
"H-Hayseed.." I heard a familiar voice weakly call out to me. I turned around quickly and slammed to the floor to get away from the smoke. I then saw, before my eyes the overmare die right before my eyes.
"Domino?" I shrieked. I never liked are overmare but she was important. All I know we could have had it way worse.
"Oh Goddesses..." I shouted as I got to my hooves and sprinted more and more. I then heard a large almost click noise. I turned right down a hallway only to see, one of are security mares, Cola gallop out the stable door.
"Oh fuck no..." I said to myself as I realized that solution and what my escape route was. The wastelands. Just motherfucking great. I sighed and galloped out the stable door. I looked behind me,sighed and galloped up the jet black stairs. When I reached the top, I realized, I needed rest, fucking badly. Oh. OK. Or I guess I will just faint. I slammed against the stairs,drifting into blackness.
{Earlier that day}
I woke up to the sounds of the every normal Stable 79 day. Got out of bed, put my stable jumpsuit on and headed for the door. Oh almost forgot, turn on my pipbuck. The damn thing I am destined to make till I die. Yay? Yeah what a life? Eh at least the mare I work with is decent.
I opened my door,slammed it shut, then trotted down my workstation. As I entered I was greeted by Serenity with the sweet look she has everyday.
"Hey Hayseed!" Serenity said with a smile. The young mare bounced with joy. I swear I could see a spark in her eyes.
"How's it going Serenity? Still messing around with Cola?" I said with a snicker. Cola was a security mare that little Serenity here seem to desire a lot. Yes in that way.
Serenity chuckled as she went back to her workbench,a small blush spreading across her face. I was glad to work with a welcoming mare.
My stomach growled.
"Shit.. I forgot to get breakfast.." I groaned. I hate trying to make food. I would just burn the stable down.
"Want me to make you something?" Serenity asked with a squee. Oh please no. Last time Serenity made me food, I was off work for a good 4 days.
"Nah it's OK Serenity" I answered back as nicely as possible. I wasn't very known for being a kind pony.
Serenity simply nodded and went back to working.
I Entered the large Gray room surrounded with cooking appliances.
Luckily nopony was here. Good for me cause I'm the one they all look out for. I grabbed some sort of apple smelling food and shoved it into a pan and put it in the oven. Shit. What are all these numbers for?
I started moving around the dials and poking buttons until I got to a number around 750.
"Eh good enough, the more hot the better." I whispered. After around 20 minutes I started to smell smoke.
Oh for the love of Luna, please don't tell me I burn-Yep. The Goddess damned kitchen is on fire. Just motherfucking perfect.
I carefully tried walking over the fire alarm, I tugged at it but nothing. Fucking Nothing. Then, I heard a large BANG.
"What the fuck?" I shouted with confusion. Then Serenity walked in through the other door, fuck please no..
"SERENITY WATCH OU-AGH" I screamed then was blown back into the dining room. The oven had exploded, Serenity was in fact right beside it. Shit. I most likely just killed her, but I can't start sobbing now, my tail is on fire. WAIT MY TAIL IS ON FIRE!
I ran around the room screaming like a filly had just seen a spider, whacking my tail against everything.
A large blue stallion with a short purple and darker blue mane burst through the door, he gasped.
"OH SHIT.." He screamed as he saw the fire blazing. Great, now look at what my tail had caused. He gestured with his hoof and seemed to have mouthed "Bucket of water" to other ponies in the hallway. I couldn't hear anything cause I well was surrounded with flames of my tail and the explosion. Soon a small not even fully grown light jade mare ran through the door, levitating a small rusted bucket of water and threw it near me luckily a splash hit my tail, great now i have this short tail, what am i going to cuddle at night with?!
Oh goddesses fuck me with sky, the fire is spreading. Getting out now, yep getting out right NOW. I ran down the hallway screaming so many curses I swear I heard a colt cry. Then the overmare's voice alerting all ponies to stay safe from the fire, great what have I caused again? Sweat ran down my forehead, the heat of the fire seemed to be travelling through the vents and down into the stable hallways and rooms. I then slide to a halt, realizing, where was I running? Who am I running too?
When I was a filly both of my parents escaped the stable, they didn't want me at all, I was an orphan and always was until I turned 19, for 5 years now I have been on my own.
I then realized, I heard the cries of the security mare, the one that Serenity dreamed about all day long. Cola. She was sobbing. Shit she heard the news.. I decided to keep galloping, she wouldn't want to see me at all.
{Present}
I woke up to the sound of a tapping hoof. I saw a dark brown hoof, then looked up to see a light pink mane with blonde streaks, then a lot of security barding. It was Cola. Wait. Cola?
"Oh finally your up!" She said with her calm as always voice. Okay. Now I can see why Serenity loved her so much, this mare seemed too sweet to be security.
"I was getting worried you wouldn't wake up Hayseed." She sighed with a very worried tone.
"Wait.." I asked while rubbing my head with my hoof.
"You waited for me?" I asked with compassion. Cola glanced side to side.
"Well, Serenity always told me about you and you seemed like one of the nicest ponies in the stable, also I have no idea what gender of pony you like, but even though I have a marefriend, you are beautiful!" She said with laughter. Wait, What?!
"Well use to have a marefriend.." She sighed quietly. I put my hoof on her back, not knowing what to do. I was never really taught how to comfort ponies when they start breaking down into waterfalls of tears.
About 2 hours past, Cola was fast asleep on the ground, tears stained her gorgeous face. Wait, OK Hayseed do not start hitting on her, she wouldn't want to date anypony else I can predict. Cola kicked in her sleep, shivering for a minute or two until I lightly nudged her. She yawned and blinked open her eyes. Her aqua eyes staring up at me. Oh goddesses she is beautiful.
"So.. how long was I out?" She asked quietly.
"An hour or 2 about, not too long." I responded quietly and quickly. She nodded and got to her hooves, slowly. She stretched and then pointed to the large door. That's the exit.
"You ready?" I asked her with concern. She sighed and stared at the door for at least 5 minutes.
"Yes.." She muttered with a nod. I slowly put my wing on her back trying to comfort her, I could see some panic rising, wait that's just mine. She used her slightly dark blue magic to swing the large metal door open, and there it was. The wastelands.
"Holy shit..." Said Cola with an hint of fear in her voice. The wastelands harsh winds hit us right in the face, the scent of many things. The sky well, that wasn't the sky it was just piles upon piles of dark harsh clouds, with a teeny bit of sun beaming through. I could hear a faint sound of music, mechanic music though.
"Strange.." I whispered to myself. Cola looking at me with puzzled eyes. That puzzled look soon faded into terrified eyes as we heard the sounds of metal clanging together, wait, may I fix that? Chains. Chains whacking against other chains. I then caught my eyes on a large tan coloured stallion. Oh shit, were going to be slaughtered aren't we? He looked at us, we looked at him. He sighed.
"So.. you stable folk need somewhere to rest?" He questioned us with a tint of joy. Joy eh, wait what the actual fuck, joy? Ok that is just..
"Well yes we do, it would be very thanked if you did allow us to rest somewhere safely" Cola replied in the most sweetest tone she could do. Still curious about those chains though, he had a rope of them stringed to his back. I am so confused on so many levels.
"Well, I guess is should introduce myself first before we head back." He offered kindly, his accent was not what I was expected from a stallion with a cut off ear and blazing red eyes. Cola nodded, then I followed her with a smaller nod.
"The name's Bone." He said quickly.
"How about you two?" He asked with a curious tone, his one ear perking up.
"I'm Hayseed." I replied.
"And I'm Cola Spark. Just call me Cola for short though." Cola replied as well. Bone gestured with his tail, I'm guessing that was a follow me gesture? Either way we had to follow him. So we did. He kept looking back at me, oh please no tell me that's not why he keeps glancing back cause I swear if he is, I will make sure both of the Goddesses are even afraid of him once I mess his face up. Wait what if he can mind read?! Shit I wouldn't be welcomed anywhere if ponies could read my mind.
We walked for hours. I saw so many things on the way.. skulls of ponies, Bone had to handle off someponies that were seemed to be called Raiders, they are basically maniac cannibals with no sense of mercy or sanity. Easiest way to explain them! My hooves ached and my head as well, I just wasn't use to this environment yet, neither had Cola. She threw up at least twice on the way. Poor mare. After at least 9 hours of walking and galloping we finally made it to a place with a large rusting gateway.
"Here we are." Bone announced loudly. This town, holy shit did he own this property? There was everything from what I could see, well through the gate at least. I could see the apartment buildings, 2 to be exact and a few shacks I'm guessing for where the residents lived? A few food and beverages bar. Some type of ministry of peace building, most likely used for medical purposes and, wait what? I swear I can see somepony heading underground, oh is there? Underground tunnels? An earth pony stallion caught me looking at it, he chuckled.
"What? What goes on down there?" I asked with I guess a raged tone.
"Oh that's just a certain place mostly stallions go to.." He muttered, giggling a bit. Wait why would only stallions go ther- Oh for Celestia's sake! Alright Hayseed time to add one thing, stallions will be perverts and you gotta get over it. Really fast.
