Celestia sat in the dining hall of Canterlot Castle sipping her tea while aimlesly looking around the room, at all the artifacts that decorated the walls from days past. Some relics were of great importance to the princess such as the very first letter she received from twilight when she had first arrived in ponyville and began her studies of friendship from a new perspective.
Others were not so nice some being swords from past wars won. There had not been a true war in over a thousand years. That's when Celestia's eyes moved over to a particular blade. It was six feet long, one foot wide, scorched, and heavy enough that only an alicorn could lift even the most powerfull magic.
Celestia learned the hard way that the blade could burst into flames with a slight touch of magic when battling an old foe. The king of Shadows was his nickname. He had ruled over the Crystal Empire for many years. All of that time he had also raised an army of some of the finest soldiers Equestria had ever seen
