Escaping from Celestia

The Journey Back Home

Unlike it was when she took the train out to pick up Celestia and her captors, Luna was able to get an engineer to take the train out to where they wanted it. This left Luna to ride in a car with the Unicornians. Luna sighed in frustration knowing that the final part of what she felt was a defeat would happen, her expanding the forest and thus, expanding the borders of the new nation of Unicornia.

Twilight could see a look of frustration on Luna's face and thought about whether it would be a good idea to talk to the princess about what she wanted or not but eventually, she decided "what do I have to lose?"

She approached the midnight blue Alicorn and asked, "Princess Luna, can I ask you a question?"

Luna asked in return, "What is this question you wish to ask?"

Twilight replied, "I am wondering if there is any way you could expand the tracks down to the border of Unicornia and put a train station there? I'm asking this because then my parents could come and visit, well that and if us and ponies in Equestria need to communicate by mail, we could."

Luna gasped in shock over this. She knew what this was truly over. She knew that this was completely Twilight's idea and knew that she was suggesting it so she would never have to set hoof in Equestria again. Luna sighed, "I don't know Twilight. I don't think we'd make any money off of it and I know for a fact that this is solely so you can hide out in the dim light of Unicornia for the rest of your days."

Radiant and Moonlight both heard this and were less than thrilled. Radiant commented, "That was uncalled for." She turned to Twilight and added, "But I do agree with Luna, this is just so your parents will come see you without you having to go to Dodge Junction."

Moonlight added, "Twilight, I know your heart is in the right place but I simply don't think allowing outsiders such easy access to Unicornia is that good of an idea. If they wish to visit, they can find their way to the gullies and walk here."

Twilight sighed, "You're all right. I did just want it so I wouldn't have to go to Dodge Junction to see my parents. I guess if I want to see them, I'll have to go there and perhaps convince them to simply move to be with me."

Radiant commented, "Twilight, I do think that would be the best option. Given that they are your family, I would be open to them relocating to Unicornia if they was to want to. Given by their reaction to the suggestion though, I have a bad feeling it won't happen."

Finally the train ground to a halt out where Luna had stopped it where they picked up Celestia. Luna stepped out and sighed, "Before we head on out, I will fly over Unicornia and cast a spell on it and everything ten miles outside of the forest to meet your demands and finally close this deal. I will then return and accompany you to the edge of the forest, the edge of your country."

Radiant replied, "That sounds good to me."

Luna took off to the south to cast the necessary spell. This was something she really didn't want to have to do, to fly to where she was over the exact center of the forest but for the spell to work properly, she had to do so. The forest was vast and stretched out for many miles so finding the exact center of it was quite the challenge for her. Ultimately all she could do was guess where the spell needed to be cast from and hope it was right.

Luna stretched vertically as she spread her aura out over a great amount of land, the whole forest and somewhat beyond. Her eyes began to shine white as she cast the spell. For her this spell seemed more difficult than it was for her to raise and lower the moon when she was just a filly. After ten minutes of releasing energy, she cast her gaze out and while she couldn't tell any difference as far as the size, she looked down and it appeared as though that the forest canopy was thicker than it was before, something that Luna thought to be impossible.

Once she flew north and reached the area where the border was, she knew that it had worked. The forest spread out far enough to the north now that the southern edge of the gullies were now within its confines, something that would make reaching the smooth path that led from the edge of the forest into their community more difficult, and probably less pleasant for Twilight's parents.

Once Luna returned to the Unicornians, she gave them a smile and said, "It is done. We shall head to the gullies and turn south, I am sure you will like what you see."

Luckily for them it wasn't too far to the gullies and once they arrived, they noticed that the gullies headed straight into the forest rather than there being some flat lands between their edge and the edge of it. Radiant gave the new border a smile and exclaimed, "This is exactly what we wanted!" She turned to Luna and added, "Well our deal is complete Princess Luna. You got what you wanted and we got what we wanted."

Luna was frustrated over the comment because while Unicornia obviously got what they wanted, Equestria only got Celestia back for long enough for her to have a meal and then to be burned with magic and banished into limbo. She mumbled, "Yeah, whatever."

Once they got to the edge of the trees, the three jumped down into the gullies that would lead them home. Moonlight gave Luna a smile and said, "This looks perfect!"

Twilight added, "I love it!"

Luna gave them the most of a smile that she could, "Yeah it is lovely isn't it."

Radiant then turned to Luna and said, "I know this has been hard on you your Majesty but I do hope that there can be diplomatic relations between our nations. After all, we are neighboring nations and all neighbors should be there for another."

Luna distantly replied, "Yeah, we should."

Radiant and the others turned south and finished, "Well goodbye Princess Luna, may Equestria under your rule prosper and may you never have to face any villains."

Luna replied, "The same goes with you Queen Radiant Hope, may your nation prosper."

They then parted ways and as they crossed under the canopy Radiant exclaimed, "Well ladies, we are now officially in the nation of Unicornia! We are home!" She then turned to Twilight and added, "And Twilight, without you none of this would be possible. The tyrant would still be molesting proteges, we wouldn't have this extra territory, we would still be part of Equestria and we wouldn't have our own nation. Because of that, I have a very special surprise for you once we get back to town."

Twilight's eyes grew wide as she asked, "Really? What is it?"

Moonlight laughed, "Twilight, she said it's a surprise! Telling you now would ruin it!"

Radiant added, "And I'm not about to spoil something like this!"

As the three headed south, Twilight's mind became full of wonder and anticipation. She couldn't help but wonder what this surprise was going to be. Yes what she did vindicated all the mares of her new homeland, prevented Celestia from ever being able to molest another protege and gave Unicornia more territory but still, what was this surprise she wondered. Even if it was something small, she was happy. She had aided in vindicating every single mare who was a protege of Celestia's and allowed her new homeland to become it's own country.
