Escaping from Celestia

Strange Behavior

The following morning Twilight woke up in a daze. Not only was she still trying to come to terms with Celestia's behavior from the previous day but she was also trying to interpret the dreams she had the night before. Spike could tell she wasn't quite right and decided he would find out what was wrong. He asked, "Twilight, are you ok? You just seem like you are in a fog."

Twilight replied, "Oh I'm ok Spike. I'm just tired."

Spike was awake last night and heard Twilight talking in her sleep. He was curious as to what her dreams were about. He asked, "Twilight, did you know that you were talking in your sleep last night?"

Twilight laughed, "Oh I don't talk in my sleep. I have never talked in my sleep."

Spike replied, "Well you were last night. It was kind of odd, you were begging for Celestia to get off of you."

Twilight had a stunned look on her face. She didn't know how, but Spike knew her dreams involved Celestia. She asked, "Spike, if I tell you something do you Pinkie promise not to tell anypony?"

Spike replied, "Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye."

Twilight said, "Ok. My dreams did involve Celestia. I had this weird dream that she took me to some distant library. I'm not sure where it was but while we were studying she began to lay on top of me."

Spike asked, "What kind of books were you two reading in your dream?"

Twilight replied, "We were reading romance novels. Each one was steamier than the one before it and eventually Celestia wanted to act out what was in the novels. It really made me feel uncomfortable."

Spike asked, "Twilight, what do you think that means?"

Twilight replied, "Well I don't know. Perhaps it was because yesterday during our study session Celestia had her wing around me and had me pulled completely up against her, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable." She paused for a minute and then continued, "Well you don't have to worry Spike, I don't think we have to worry about that happening!"

After a bit more discussion the two decided to just let it go but Twilight did shut herself in the library that day because she was worried Celestia might come get her to act out the events in those dreams. She was worried about other ponies noticing something was not quite right with her. In Canterlot, Celestia was not quite herself either.

Luna could sense something was wrong with her sister and asked, "Celestia, what is wrong? I would have thought having Twilight visit yesterday would have helped you out of your sadness."

Celestia replied, "It is not sadness, I just had some strange dreams last night, dreams that involved Twilight. I don't think you would understand."

Luna threw her hooves up in the air and said, "Well here we go again! Whenever you don't want to tell me something you just claim that I won't understand. I'm not a naive little filly, I'm sure I could understand."

Celestia was feeling very embarrassed about the dreams she had the previous night and worried that Luna would chastise her if she told her, so she continued to just beat around the bush until Luna was finally tired. Luna threw her hooves up in the air in disgust and said, "Fine Celestia, don't trust me. Someday though, you will want to tell me something and I will just brush you off."

Luna stormed to her bedroom while Celestia just sighed. White Wings, who Celestia trusted more asked, "Your Majesty, I know it is probably none of my business but what is it that you don't think Luna would understand?"

Celestia asked in return, "Do you promise not to tell anypony?"

White Wings replied, "I won't say a word."

Celestia started, "Alright, I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed that Twilight and I went out to that old castle that Luna and I used to live in. Well I took her into my private library and we read books together."

White Wings asked, "Why would a dream like that be something you wouldn't share with Luna?"

Celestia continued, "Well the books her and I read together were romance novels, and well things got rather strange after that. Her and I became intimate and she professed her love for me."

White Wings asked, "How did this dream make you feel?"

Celestia concluded, "It made me feel wonderful. It was everything I had ever dreamed of. When I woke up I was hoping that Twilight would be laying next to me, cuddling with me."

White Wings said, "Well I'm no expert when it comes to dream interpretation but I can tell that you have strong feelings for Twilight."

Celestia smiled and replied, "I do White Wings. I have lived for many millennia. I was born prior to the founding of Equestria yet I have never felt any kind of love until Twilight came along. Yes I have had crushes on other ponies but I have never felt true love. I just wish my dream could become a reality."

White Wings asked, "Well you could always summon her up here and then tell her that you two need to go to your old castle and do some studying."

Celestia sadly asked, "But who would keep an eye on things here? I can't expect Luna to stay awake all day. Besides, this trip of ours lasted for a week and I would want it to be the exact way it was in the dream."

Their discussion ended there as Celestia said she had a very busy day scheduled. While she did attend the morning meetings she was not exactly entirely with it. During a meeting with the mayor of Manehattan Celestia was in a dream world of sorts. When the mayor asked her about what should be done to lower the crime rate there she said, "I love you Twilight!"

The mayor asked, "What? What does this Twilight individual have to do with us lowering the crime rate?"

Celestia finally got back with it and replied, "Oh, regarding lowering the crime rate, perhaps if you publicly humiliate the offenders in public that will lower the crime rate."

Celestia decided to just avoid everypony else after lunch and shut herself in her room. She realized that she was in no shape to be handling any affairs.

The next day in Ponyville Twilight was back to her normal self. Her and Spike headed to Sugarcube Corner that morning to have something sweet to eat. Applejack was wondering where she was the day before and asked, "Twilight, Spike, why weren't y'all over here yesterday morning? Pinkie had a dozen doughnuts with extra sprinkles made for you."

Twilight replied, "Oh after the whole day with Celestia the day before I just decided to get some extra rest. It was a very long study session with Celestia and I will admit, I'm not used to those anymore."

Spike began to add, "Yeah and she was dreaming......"

Twilight put her hoof over his mouth and asked, "Pinkie, since I missed out yesterday do you think I could have any doughnuts this morning?"

Pinkie replied, "Well I have a few but we ran out of sprinkles. We will have to order more."

Twilight said, "It's ok Pinkie. It's not a big deal, but the doughnuts sound good anyway."

Pinkie placed a plate of doughnuts in front of Twilight and she began to devour them. She still had her dreams about Celestia stuck in her mind and figured that a few treats would help distract her from them, which they weren't able to.

Despite doing her best job in hiding what was wrong, Fluttershy could sense something was wrong. She asked, "Twilight, I know there is something more than just being tired going on with you. Why don't you just tell us what is wrong?"

Twilight knew she would have to lie if she was to get them to quit bothering her about it. She replied, "It is something I can't discuss. It involves my meeting with Celestia a couple days ago."

After that everypony just dropped it and things went along as they normally would, although things just weren't right with Twilight or Celestia in the coming days and eventually weeks. Celestia had fallen into an even deeper depression and Twilight seemed to be more paranoid as each day passed.
