Chapters "Pass it to me AJ!" Rainbow shouted to her earth pony friend, she threw the ball up and bucked it at Rainbow who hit it back with her hoof. Twilight sighed happily, she looked around at her friends, Rarity was sunbathing and Spike was fanning her, Pinkie Pie was taking a swim, Fluttershy was looking in the stunning rock pools for coastal wildlife and Applejack and Rainbow Dash were playing volleyball and she was reading the latest Daring Do novel, The violet mare laid back in her deck chair, there was nothing like a day at the beach!
"What you look at Fluttershy?" Pinkie asked her Pegasus friend rather loudly, dunking her face in the the rock pool "OW!"
"Pinkie, please keep your voice down" The timid Pegasus told her friend firmly, detaching the sea creature from her snout, carefully placing it down in the dazzling sea blue water in front of her.
Fluttershy slowly trotted over to a nearby seagull when it suddenly flew away, The cream coloured mare looked up noticing a lot of the birds at the beach were flying away, "that odd" she thought out load.
"Whats odd?" Her pink earth pony friend asked curiously.
"All the birds are flying away" Fluttershy said confused, Pinkie looked up equally confused.
Suddenly the sound of sirens screeched through the air startling all the ponies, they all looked around startled and oblivious as to what was going on.
Twilight stood up and felt the ground start to shake beneath her, she gasped "EARTHQUAKE!" she shrieked everyone turned to her and began to panic, ponies were running around, falling over, crashing into one and other it was chaos, total chaos.
"Twilight!" Spike cried, running over and hugging the mare "what do we do?" he frantically asked.
"I don't know, I've never been in an earthquake before" Twilight said truthfully, Rarity ran over to them, holding onto her hat, she looked petrified.
Suddenly the shaking got worse, much worse, no pony could stand, the all tumbled violently to the sandy ground, trying desperatly to find something to hold on to.
"AJ, I don't like this" Rainbow Dash said, her usual confidence gone, Rainbow flew up and looked around, her gaze fell on the deep blue sea, something wasn't right about it.
"I don't like it either Rainbow" Applejack said as the clung onto a tall,swaying palm tree for dear life.
The shaking slowly began to cease, leaving destruction everywhere, Applejack spotted Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie trotting slowly over to Twilight, Rarity and Spike she nudged Rainbow and gestured over, Rainbow understood and nodded and flew beside Applejack, she had one more look at the sea, something was up with it, and Rainbow knew it.
"Is everypony okay?" Twilight said concerned, everyone smiled at each other glad their friends were alright.
"Yes but ugh Twilight where's the sea gone?" Fluttershy said confused, everypony looked at the sea, well what was left of it.
"That mighty weird" Applejack said in her usual southern accent, Spike stepped forward and took a close look at the sea, it was coming back but something wasn't right.
"Wow, Its coming in fast!" Rarity exclaimed concern in her voice.
"Something's wrong" Twilight muttered to herself, the water was rapidly approaching, it was about to reach the beach, it bulldozed though the palm trees towards the seven friends and the other ponies on the beach.
"TSUNAMI!" a distant pony shouted, all the ponies turned round, trying to find the source of the voice, they turned back round he water was only metres away.
"RUN!" Twilight screamed they all started to run when... BAM!
The friends were hit, violently and swept away, Rainbow Dash had managed to fly high enough, out of the giant waves reach, she gasped, wide eyed, her friends they, they were gone...
"FLUTTERSHY! Grab my hoof!" Twilight screamed at her friend, fighting furiously against the raging torrents, she was desperately reaching over a floating, torn up mattress, frantically trying to grab her friends hoof.
"I CAN'T!" The pegasi cried back, Twilight's horn glowed, and in a split second, they were teleported to a nearby high raised roof.
Panting heavily Twilight look around "Wow this place is a mess! You okay Fluttershy?" she asked worriedly.
"I think so" Fluttershy replied, getting up to survey the damage "Oh my gosh, this is so awful! All those animals and ponies!" She burst into tears at the thought, Twilight hugged her tightly understanding her friends sensitive nature, she wanted to cry too, she was on the inside, but she couldn't show it she had to stay strong, for herself, for Fluttershy.
"Oh Flutthershy, please don't cry" She comforted the crying mare in her arms, it didn't really work but she tried anyway.
"But, but Twilight our friends!" She cried out, Twilight sighed, a single tear trickling down her face, were they dead? Were they alive? Were they hurt? Or are they perfectly alright? She didn't know, but boy she wished it was the last one.
"I don't know where they are Fluttershy but I do know this, our friends are strong, stronger than any other ponies I know, If anypony was to survive this, it would be them, even if they didn't they will be watching over us wanted us to be strong, I'm sure the power of friendship will bring us back together, the elements of harmony connect us though a deep bond, remember?"
"Yes I do, I'll be strong for them, I promise! The pegasus smiled, wiping away her tears.
"Thats the spirit, now come on, lets go find a place to spend the night, Celestia has started to lower the sun"
The two mares teleported high up in the mountains, hoping the wave would retreat so they could look for survivors and their friends.
Rainbow watched in horror as the gigantic, colossal wave engulfed the entire coast, and her friends. She closed her eyes, "its just a nightmare, its not really happening, wake up, wake up, WAKE UP GOD DAMN IT!" she screamed at herself holding her head.
"DASHIE!" she squealed happy to be with her friend, the Pegasus found refuge on the nearby mountain, she put her friend down and hugged her, a single tear escaping her eye, she pulled back and sighed, her gaze falling on the water still flooding inland, she hoped, she prayed her friends were alive.
"Come on Pinkie Pie lets go and find somewhere to stay" Rainbow started trotting into the forest, her usually hyperactive friends followed by her side.
"Okay I'm right behind ya" She replied, they trotted in silence until they reached a clearing a large oak tree in the centre.
"Here?" Pinkie asked
"Here" Rainbow replied, smiling a little bit, her stomach grumbled, she looked at Pinkie "lets go and find something to eat, some fruit maybe? I saw some mangoes earlier"
"Okay sure, but Rainbow? Do you think our friends are okay? I'm so worried" she looked down, sad, her soaking wet mane deflating.
"I hope so, I really hope so"
Applejack surfaced in the dark, murky water. she fort the violent currents, she quickly figured there was no hope.
Suddenly she smacked into something, she turned and climbed, using the lat of her strength to pull herself up the to the balcony and over it, she collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily, she slowly picked herself of the ground, she was alive, it was a miracle,suddenly her eyes went wide, she looked around "wait a minute, this was we were staying!" the strong, hard working mare sighed heavily, she remembered arriving here those few days ago, with her friends...together.
"Oh darn it!" she yelled tears pricking at her eyes, she turned away from the gushing, surge of water behind her, and silently began to cry.
"HELP!" Applejack's eyes went wide once more, she turned round, the voice echoed, and it sounded like it was coming this way, Applejack reacted on instinct, in seconds she was off the floor and peering over the edge. She squinted, a thrashing figure was being swept away by the strong, relentless currents, the pony hit a lamp post and clung on "HELP!" Applejack frantically looked round, desperately trying to find something to help the poor soul with, she spotted a long rope dangling from the balcony, she lent down and picked it up in her mouth, using her rodeo skills, she threw the rope out to the pony with incredible accuracy, the rope wrapped itself around the the poor pony like a snake, Applejack pulled with all her might, she managed to pulled the helpless victim into the clean, refreshing air and out of the dark, murky, debris filled water, and onto the balcony.
"Oh my gosh, Rarity!" Applejack cried, realizing the pony she rescued was other than her fashion loving friend "are you okay?"
"Oh Applejack" Rarity exclaimed, throwing her hooves around her saviour "I'm fine, now that I'm with you"
Rainbow Dash awoke with to a terrified shriek, she bolted awake, banging her head hard on the branch above her "OW!" she groaned "Pinkie Pie! Get up!" Rainbow looked down at her earth pony friend annoyed, how did she sleep through that!
Pinkie Pie yawned and rubbed her sky blue eyes and brushed back her candy floss like mane that had gone wild as she wiggled around in her awkward sleeping position the night before. " Whats up Dashie?" she asked casually.
"I heard someone scream and after what happened yesterday I think we both know why!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed trying hard not to shout. Dashie gestured to her left to where the once peaceful city stood, now it was just scattered debris and black murky flood water that had yet to retreat.
"Do you think there will be another wave?" Pinkie Pie asked worried and scared, she saw what happened a few hours ago and never wanted it to happen ever again.
"To be honest with you Pinkie I'm no huge, destructive wave expert so I don't really know to be honest, but I know that as long as you are with me you will be absolutely fine!"
"Thanks Dashie I knew I could count on you! Now lets go help this pony!" Pinkie quickly trotted off to the right, Rainbow glared at her and rolled her eyes "Oh yeah wrong way hehe!" she and Rainbow dashed off towards the blood curdling scream.
Rainbow wondered how Pinkie could be so positive and happy surrounded by all this grief and tragedy, "Over there Pinkie!" Rainbow Dash shouted loudly to her hyperactive, pink best friend, she had spotted someone trying to climb up a steep slope not far away but failing miserably. "Wait is that...SPIKE!" Rainbow Dash speed off as fast as she could just as he lost his grip and plummeted towards the swampy disaster below "gotcha!" Dashie exclaimed as she grabbed him and flew back over to Pinkie Pie.
"Spike! I'm so glad our okay!" Pinkie shouted with glee, hugging him tightly, so much so he couldn't breath and was struggling to breath.
"Thanks Pinkie Pie! I'm glad your all alright too, but could you put me down now? I can't breath" Spike struggled to get out.
"Oh yeah, sorry" Pinkie Pie apologised.
"Spike! Did you see any of the others?" Rainbow Dash said, eyes filling with hope.
"I'm sorry, I haven't seen any of them since the wave swept us away form the beach inland, I'm sorry" Spike replied sadly ruining Rainbow's hopes, she looked down, grief replacing the hope she had previously in her warm, magenta eyes.
