Your Number One Assistant
Sweet Dreams
Twilight felt something wrap around her left back leg.
"No really!" Spike said. "I'm really, really, happy to help!" He said as he snuggled into her leg.
"Oh," Twilight smiled softly. "Awe.." She said through light chuckles.
Her horn lit up, making Spike's body float up onto her back. She nuzzled his chest, her horn tickling his chin. Spike didn't feel like talking, so just wrapped his claws around her neck.
"How about you go to bed, Spike." She said. "It's been a long day for you."
"But what about you?" Spike asked.
"I'll be fine." She said. "I'm almost finished my last book anyway. I'll come to bed soon.
"Already?" He asked in shock.
"Yes, like I said, it isn't that much." She responded.
"Okay," He said as he shrugged. The room became silent again as Spike hopped up the stairs

Twilight yawned as she slapped the hardcover book on her desk closed. She glanced at the time.
"I should really get to bed..." She muttered as she realized it was almost midnight. She levitated the red book on the top of the somewhat teetering tower of fifteen books. "Good night, Owlicious." She said before walking up the stairs.
He hooed.
"You." She joked before reaching the top floor, where her bedroom was.
Spike was asleep with a comic book on top of his face, the pages fluttering from his snoring.
Twilight smiled as she bookmarked the book and magicked it to the side of his basket. She climbed into her own bed and pulled the covers up. Her mind became clouded as her eyelids drooped, and before she knew it, she was asleep.

Twilight's eyes screwed tighter before opening. What was that noise? She stretched and slowly sat up. She looked right towards her window, and then left towards Spike's basket. Suddenly, the noise became clear.
"Twilight!" Spike mumbled. "No, I'm sorry! I forgot!"
Twilight tilted her head in confusion.
"No! Please, let me stay!" He cried. Tears dripped from his closed eyes.
"Spike." Twilight said. No reply. "Spike?" Still no answer. She slipped out of bed. She placed a hoof on his scaly shoulder and shook.
"AAH!" He gasped as he snapped awake. He looked straight into Twilight's gleaming purple eyes.
"Spike, what's wrong?" She asked.
"Oh, nothing." He muttered.
"You called what you were mumbling in your sleep nothing?" She asked while raising an eyebrow.
"I was mumbling in my sleep?!" He gasped.
"Yeah, and by the sound of it, you aren't okay." She answered. "What's wrong?"
"I said nothing, Twilight!" He said. Twilight's ears bended back as she smiled.
"Spike." She replied. "You can tell me anything." He was silent for a moment.
"I just had a bad dream." He said while crossing his arms.
"just a bad dream?" Twilight asked. "Wasn't I... Involved?" She asked.
"Yes..." He muttered.
"How?" She asked.
"I forgot to clean the library, and you got mad at me," He said.
"Oh that's not really that ba-"
"You told me that if I wasn't going to do my job, you were gonna send me away..." He tucked his knees in to his stomach.
"Spike..." She started. "You know I would never do that."
"I know... But it seemed so real." He responded.
"Everything's alright, Spike." Twilight said. "Do you want to sleep beside me tonight?"
"I-I guess." He said. Twilight crawled back in bed, followed by Spike. He kept his distance, knowing that Twilight had a personal space bubble when it came to sleeping. He snuggled into the pillow at the head of the bed.
The room became silent, only the sound of the slow, soft breathing of Twilight mixed with Spike's still settling breath. Soon, their breathing synchronized.
Spike's heart skipped a beat as Twilight snaked her purple arms under Spike's own arms and hugged him closer, keeping her arms around his chest afterwards.
He shifted himself until he was facing Twilight, her hooves now contacting with each other at the back of his neck. They stared into each other's eyes in a comfortable, long silence.
Twilight slowly leaned in and touched her forehead to his forehead. She closed her eyes and lingered on Spike, despite his blush growing visibly darker. Her hot breath washed all over Spike's scaly face. She pulled away, leaving Spike as red as a beet and his small mouth slightly agape.
Spike shuffled closer to Twilight, the spikes on the top of his head fitting right below her chin. He rubbed his face into her chest, inhaling her smell, which happened to be lavender. The unicorn slid one of her hooves off from his back and placed his against Spike's chest.
"Sweet dreams," She whispered into his ear. "My number one assistant." She wrapped all her legs around him and rolled onto her back.
"You too." Spike answered as he snuggled into her neck. Twilight stroked his belly with one of her hooves and pecked his head.
The couple slept peacefully in each other's arms for the rest of the night.
"Twilight... Can I tell you something?" Spike asked as he walked into the library. She turned around after shelving a book.
"Sure Spike, what's up?" She asked.
"Well... I've been thinking... Y'know how I have that crush on Rarity?" He asked.
"Of course," Twilight responded.
"Well, I don't really think I have a crush on her....." He said while he kicked the ground while looking away and blushing.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"I might have a crush on somepony else." He responded.
"Somepony... Else?" She asked.
"Yeah, you wanna know who it is?" He asked.
"Sure, if you want me to know." Twilight said.
"Okay, come closer." Twilight stepped closer. "Close enough so I can whispered in your ear!" She leaned her head towards Spike an turned so her ear was facing him.
Instead of saying something, Spike leaned in and gave a light kiss between Twilight's eye and her ear. Her cheeks turned beet red.
"You." He whispered. Twilight turned her head and smiled.
"You could've just said so, you silly dragon." She said before kissing him on the nose. The baby dragon jumped up and wrapped his arms around Twilight's neck.
Spike's sleeping form's lips curled into a smile.

Soooo, yeah. Spilight. I enjoy it a lot. Also, before anybody says anything, I know it's short, but it's supposed to be. Short and Sweet. I needs mah short stories! Have a fandiddlytastic day!
