Chapter 1: Off the Train
After I left the train, I was alone. I am used to being alone. Solitary was a great word my few friends that I had left labeled me with. They knew I was a socially awkward. I didn’t wish to be. But I was. In all my fear and loneliness, I saw a fellow somepony who did a full sprint toward me. As she approached, she saw I had a frown on my face. In my sadness that turned into full tears, I dropped a small amount of my stuff. I didn’t realize it and went to pick it up. That pink pony went to me and handed me the rest of my things. She asked if I needed help. I barely heard her over my thoughts of the past, and my all around rough life.
With a sympathetic look, one that only a mare could give. She said “My name is Pinkie Pie; I WILL help you move your things. I am not taking no for an answer, and after I have a present for you.” I muttered thanks and used my barely stable unicorn magic. As the items levitated with an orange and red glare I had questions.
Why, why is she helping me? She doesn’t know me. Provided she did, she would not like me. Which reminded me why I left StallionGrad, the closest thing I had to home. Because somepony finally adopted me, I was in that orphanage for since I was born. Another memory ran through my mind.
I got told by my only friend Inkblot I had gotten adopted. I felt the worst for him, he remembered getting sent to the orphanage. As a token of friendship and appreciation he gave me a necklace. I didn’t like jewelry, but I REFUSE to take it off. It was a silver chain, It had a quill and inkwell engraved in it. The Quill was black, with orange ink in it. He told me “As long as the orphanage gives us pens and paper, I will be your story giver. I NEED you to write about it.” I asked him where he got it, he said “The gang I ran with still owed me something, and I got this. I don’t want to talk about the gang. You know why.”
I told the pink mare “Pinkie, that is your name right? Thank you. Just put it all in the main room. Sorry for being somber on the walk, I just had some… bad memories from back home; in StallionGrad. I hope this mom loves me.” She frowned. She told me “Filly, I want to give you a gift in about an hour.” She also asked “ How old are you, and when is your birthday?” I replied “I’m 13, and today is my birthday. Well the one I gave to myself. I don’t believe in dates though.”
My adopted mother knew that voice from my new Pink friend, and she waited for it to end and a door to close. After that she asked “Quillian, is that you?” I replied with a whimper “Yes mom. Where do want me to place my belongings?” She came down, and when I saw her I locked up.
She was Princess Luna. I opened my mouth, and no words came out. She came over to me, and I bowed. She picked me up with her magic and hugged me. I could feel her tears, and she could feel mine. She said “Welcome to royalty. I have almost everything, except your room. Want to style it in your own fashion? I replied “Yes Prin-“She cut me off mid-sentence. Luna said “Mom, I’m mom. Call me nothing else son.”
We went to my room. She must have read the report the orphanage gave her. The room was magnificent, it was everything I wanted. It had the posters with a Hammer and Sickle, my favorite bands, and a signed poster by Octavia that said “Only quit when you win or finish. Oh yeah, and turn this around.” After I flipped the poster I saw something that I KNEW mom had done for me.
I saw a letter with the following inscribed on it “Hey Quillian, I saw that file. If you meet a pink somepony, DO WHAT SHE SAYS!
-A fans biggest fanbase, Octavia and Vinyl “DJ- PON3” Scratch
Mom said “You seem to enjoy everything in here, so get comfortable.” As she said that, I heard a loud door knock. It was Pinkie with a blind fold. She told me “Put this on, adds to the fun!” So I did, and she held my hoof and guided me.
I stumbled along with my first new… Well I guess friend is the right word. Anyway Pinkie Pie brought me to Sugar Cube Corner. I came into the doors and heard one of the loudest screams ever; the scream was “Surprise!” As she removed the blindfold I saw everypony in town who was under 15. I was surprised, and I owed it to Pinkie Pie. I had a party in my honor, and ponies only know me because I just moved, and cried up a storm.
I had one present that could almost never be topped. It was a surprise, it was all I wanted. Well actually, there was one more thing.
