Sunset of Midnight

by Kavian Shadow
Torment is what a scholar would define as a session of intense pain, where the only escape is to beg for mercy and prey that is comes. What they fail to understand, is that torment has many shrouds...

Flames are seen only as something wrought by the shade of evil to bring about the destruction of everything that they touch. No one ever saw a flame as a thing of beauty, of art, of love even. Whenever there was a time that someone felt low, there was a spark that ignited the flames in them to keep going. No smoke billowed out, but the burning sensation in both the mind and heart was still there. Flames are like little beats of the heart, too fast and you could destroy a thing of beauty, to slow, and it could vanish into the night.

To steal a quote from a very famous movie, "I have never seen a wild thing feel sorry for itself, a frozen bird will drop dead from a bow, without having ever, felt sorry for itself" - Command Master Chief, G.I. Jane

In a time of need, where no honor exists, where tensions are high after so many years of war, where such things as true love, valor, integrity, leadership, and nobility cease to exist, there is a new flame abroad. Just beyond the coming of dawn, is the single flame that shows, not all good things have truly left this world…
