It all started with the switching of the weather. Summer was leaving Equestria behind as Fall took over, thanks to the Weather Factory. The critters were beginning to prepare for hibernation, and the Earth Ponies began to harvest their crops. The nostalgic feeling swept over the quiet Town of Ponyville as their new day began, of a new season.

The Amethyst Mare laid in bed with her blanket tucked underneath her hooves. She had been up the entire night studying the effects of a potion Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle had gotten a hold of from Zecora, thinking it would give them the ability to read minds. It didn't work out as well as they thought.

With a loud thud Twilight jerked out of her deep sleep, mane a mess. She clambered out of bed and onto the warm wood floor of her room, stretching her hoofs one at a time as she stepped towards the door. With little to no effort she pulled the door open with her magic to find Spike knocked out cold, flat on the floor. Twilight snickered under her breath. He was always easily excited, even if it were something so small. But, What was he so excited about though? Twilight pondered right before noticing a greyish scroll underneath Spike's purple little arm.

Twilight's curiosity was always very high, using her magic without hesitation she picked up the scroll. It was grey with a purple trim, and on the front was a seal, one she had never gotten before, but it was obviously Princess Luna's. That's weird...I usually never get letters from Princess Luna, She thought while breaking the seal and unrolling the scroll. Spike now coming back from his nappy-wappy.

"Ow" Spike rubbed his head.

"Haha, you must have been really excited to forget the door was there."

"yeah...I saw the seal and immediately ran right up to show you. Could we possibly take out the doors?"

"No way, if Pinkie ever threw me another surprise party where would I be able to go?" Twilight sounding playful.

"I don't know, but forget about the doors, what does the letter say?!"

Twilight clears her throat.

"Dearest Twilight Sparkle & Spike the Dragon, I am happy to announce the return of my Annual Royal Masquerade. It has been a thousand years since I have been able to hold this tremendous Ball, due to..obscurities. But with great pleasure I would like to invite you two to my Royal Masquerade on the first full moon of this Month.

This will be a most magnificent Night to remember. Unfortunately, my dear Sister Celestia will not be able to attend. She is away on Royal business in Manehattan. But do not let this sadden you, for your Brother, Sir Shining Armor, will also be attending. I look forward to seeing you both here in Canterlot for this historic Night.

"Oh my gosh! We're invited to Princess Luna's Royal Masquerade! Spike, we're going to need masks' and outfits, we need to go see Rarity right away!"

"Oh um..I don't think I'm ready, I haven't polished my scales yet or-"

"Spike we don't have time!"

"Bu-"

"Come on!" Twilight lifts Spike up onto her back, runs downstairs and out of the Library.

"I hope Rarity isn't home..I look terrible."  He lets out under his breath, as Rarity's boutique comes into view.
