In her hooves was a birthday cake with two candles; one that said 2, and another that said 4. Yes, today was AJ’s twenty-fourth birthday, and sunny had a special surprise for her. Ew! Gross dude! Is that what you thought I meant!? The birthday mare calmly walked into the barn, dropping her harness at the sight of Sunny Days. “What’re you doing here!?” She asked in a harsh whisper. “Ah thought we agreed-” The surprised mare was cut off by her own shock when she saw the cake. She was silent for several seconds. “Aww, you’re so sweet!” She said, hugging the pink mare. “I got it from Pinkie Pie. She said she put apples in it, just for you.” Sunny handed her the cake with an innocent smile. “I also have a surprise for you. I needed Twilight’s help, but I think it’s still meaningful!” She then pulled out a history book. “She told me she found a much better time traveling spell that will let you go back for about five days!” AJ glanced over the pegasus’ shoulder, trying to see what was going on. Her friend then placed the book onto the ground so Applejack could see. “…The Old West.” The mare chuckled. “Oh, that’s rich! You picked out the Old West ‘cause I’m southern!” She gave a good natured laugh. “So…you don’t want to go?” Sunny asked, a hint of disappointment in her tone. Applejack wiped the hints of a tear from her eye. “W-what? Of course Ah want to go!” Sunny laughed, her blonde mane getting a firm noogie from the farm pony. “Come on Sunshine, Ah bet Twilight’s waiting on us.” /// “Applejack, are you sure you want to do this? If you go back to that time I fear something might happen to you!” Twilight said, her horn already glowing as she prepped herself for the spell. “Aw, don’t worry, Twi! Sunshine here will take care of me!” Twilight rolled her eyes before lowering them. She sighed as her horn glowed even brighter. “I’m just saying, the stallions back then were ruthless.” And with that, they vanished. /// “Put ‘em up, ya gun slinging toad!” A unicorn howled from one end of the street. “I will! And they’ll rip through ya faster than a Prench platter!” A pegasus said from the other. Before they could duel a bright flash knocked them backwards, and they stood slack-jawed as two mares stepped out of the pink smoke. One an Earth pony, and the other a Pegasus. The wingless mare wore a Stetson, and a sly grin on her face. “Howdy ya’ll!” She howled. Sunny bounced up and down in enthusiasm when she saw the Stetson bearing stallions. “Eee! I’m so excited I could explode!” A loud thudding came from behind them, making them spin around in confusion. There stood a dark brown stallion with a shaggy blonde mane, on a dragon. Needless to say, AJ nearly fainted. /// “Howdy!” He shouted, trying to be heard over the dragon’s roar. Oddly enough, AJ saw a strong resemblance to Spike in the dragon; for one it was wingless. “Hi!” Sunny said, flying up to him. The stallion’s eyes widened. “You gals must be new here!” He stared the pegasus to the ground. “This town’s got a few rules. Pegasi don’t fly, and unicorns don’t cast. This place was meant for Earth Ponies, so for Earth Ponies it will stay.” Applejack quickly yanked Sunny behind her, smiling dumbly at the bulky stallion. “Sorry about her, she’s a little mischievous.” The stallion chuckled. “`Sall right! She’s new here, can’t blame her.” He hopped off of the dragon, tying it to a post. “I’m Sheriff Stars, but you can call me Stars.” AJ fell back onto her haunches, giggling dumbly. The stallion held out his hoof to Sunny. “Sheriff!” The stallion stepped back before her hoof could reach his. “Sherrif! It’s them again!” The stallion quickly hurried to his ride and trotted over to the green Pegasus with a black mane. “They can’t be here already! Ah thought they were hiding in the mountains!” Applejack chuckled at a joke nopony else seemed to get. “They were Sheriff! But Ah just got news that they attacked a farm southwest of here! Old Cherry Mill is devastated!” Sunny raised her hoof in question. “Um, who’s ‘them’?” Stars looked back at her with a face of sorrow. “Bandits.” /// “They’ve been going around stealing all the young mares for Celestia knows what!” Sunny gulped subconsciously. “I’m afraid they’re going to hit this town next!” The brown stallion sighed. “They’d take mah daughter. I can’t let that happen!” He declared, stomping a hoof in the ground. Sunny rested a reassuring hoof on his shoulder. “Don’t worry. Just enjoy the time you have with her, and don’t think about that possibility.” She looked back at Applejack who wasn’t in her dumb psychosis anymore. “Me and AJ will take care of them!” The stallion stepped back in shock. “Ya can’t be serious! Just look at ya’ll! If you walk up to the bandits looking like that-” “Excuse me, but Ah like to think Ah look nice!” Applejack shouted in defense. The stallion blinked, and chuckled. “That’s the point. You walk up to those bandits and they’ll consider you a grand prize!” The sheriff struck a pose to prove his point. Sunny and AJ blushed in unison. “Uh…sheriff? Aren’t ya gonna get on it?” The sheriff bared his teeth at the green Pegasus, who ran away in fear. “Dumb deputy. Anyway, you mares stay out of harm’s way, ya hear?” They both nodded, much to the stallion’s liking. He began walking away, and Sunny turned to AJ once he was out of earshot. “I really don’t think this was such a good idea. There are bandits for Luna’s sake! I don’t want you getting hurt!” She cried, grasping the mare’s shoulders. The orange pony gently lifted each of her friend’s hooves off of her with a smile. “Sunny, Ah appreciate how much you care about me, really, Ah do! It’s just…Ah wanna have some fun! Let’s go see what those bandits are up to! Come on, ya know you want to!” Sunny sighed and reluctantly nodded her head. “Awesome!” /// Green eyes peeked over a rock in the desert, gazing from cactus to cactus. They widened when they caught glimpse of a campfire. “Oh Celestia, they’re here!” AJ said, ducking down beside Sunny. Turquoise eyes widened and peeked over the rock. Sunny let out a yelp of surprise when a minotaur picked them up. “Hey, Zip Line! Look what I found!” A scrawny stallion looked up and smiled at the two mares. “Great job Hunch! The boss is definitely going to give us extra bits for these two!” He shouted, jumping up and down. “Oh really? What makes you think that?” A deep voice said from behind a cape. “We got two beauts!” Hunch answered, raising the two mares above his head. They could see a toothy grin come from behind the hood. “Great job, boys. You’ll get extra food rations tonight.” The two mares hanging upside down from their tails hugged each other in fear. “What did we do…?” Sunny muttered. /// “Gentlecolts! The unicorn's black mane gave perfect contrast to his soft alabaster coat, and such alluring facial scruff. Sunny couldn’t help but stare. Of course, that was when she was slapped back into reality by AJ. “Stop making goo-goo eyes! He’s foalnapping us!” The pegasus shook herself into reasoning. “Right, sorry!” She said with a blush. The white stallion turned to the young mares with a hunger in his eyes. “Hunch, take these two to my cabin. They will be my personal maids.” Sunny couldn’t figure out what, but something in that sentence made her tingle. “You disgust me sometimes.” Applejack said with a huff, making Sunny blush. The Horror That Lies Beyond This Point...The ivory stallion laid back in his cot, granting Sunny a full view of his stallionhood. She knew this was wrong, but hey! AJ would forgive her! “Well?” The pink mare blushed. “You’re cute when you do that.” Sunny suddenly felt like an earthquake had hit her. “Sunny? Sunny wake up!” A distant voice shouted as she shook. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The pink mare’s eyes shot open. She looked up at AJ who let out a sigh of relief. “Thank Celestia you’re okay!” She shouted, grabbing the Pegasus in a tight hug. She quickly let go of her when she heard a stallion step into the room. Sunny glanced up, her eyes widening at the sight of the stallion from her earlier dream. “Good morning, ladies.” He said strolling over to the table. He picked up an apple with his magic, turning around and tossing it into the cage the mares were imprisoned in. AJ caught it, assuming it was meant for her. The stallion grinned. “As lovely as the ones resting upon your rear.” She replied with an intense blush, covering her flank with her tail. Sunny growled. Sure he was hot, but he was also a jerk! “Y-ya’ll b-better stop o-ogling my flank!” Applejack stuttered. The stallion frowned in curiosity. “Or else what? You’re locked up in a cage!” AJ frowned, and hugged Sunny. “You two are so adorable!” Now Sunny was blushing. “H-hey! It’s one thing to stare at a mare’s flank! But going and pairing us up?” The stallion gave an innocent expression. “What? I never said anything about you two…together.” He finished with a grin. “Maybe, but you were thinking it!” The unicorn grinned maliciously. “You’re right, I was.” He opened the cage door with his magic, letting them fall to the floor with a thud. “Now amuse me.” The mares looked at each other, then at the evil grin plastered on the stallion’s face, and AJ passed out a second time /// “Applejack! Applejack, please wake up!” Green eyes showed themselves, making Sunny Days overjoyed. “AJ!” She yelled, grasping the mare in a tight hug. “Sunny, can’t…breathe!” She said with a strained voice. The Pegasus dropped her to the floor with a sheepish grin. “I see you care for your friend very much…” The stallion said, rubbing his chin. Sunny frowned. “Not in the way you wish to see!” She yelled, flaring her wings. The unicorn raised his hooves in defense. “Alright, alright! If you wish, I can even set you free.” Sunny nodded. “Oh yes! We would like that very much!” The stallion smiled. “Very well, tomorrow. I will set you free, off to live your life.” Sunny almost thought this was too good to be true. Almost. “Yesyesyes! As soon as possible!” AJ pulled the mare away from her ‘savior’ and gave her a good talking to. “Sunshine, Ah can already tell this is a set up.” Sunny waved a hoof in dismissal. “Please, he’s going to set us free!” The stallion laughed. “US? I said I was going to set YOU free!” He threw back his head in laughter. He then dragged Sunny to another cabin by her tail. “Applejack!” “Sunny!” The pink Pegasus wriggled and squirmed beneath the stallion’s magic, but it was no use. “Bye, my apple cider.” AJ couldn’t help but get a little confused by this nickname. “What?” But before she could get an answer a door was slammed in her face. /// “Let me go!” Sunny squirmed against the olive green magic, but it was no use. Applejack and all of the other mares stood and watched as Sunny Days was thrown out into the desert for the buzzards. She sighed, leaning her back against the closed gate. She heard a hoof scrape on the other side. “Sunshine?” She bit her lip as the familiar voice rang through her ears. “What did you mean by, ‘apple cider’?” Sunny jumped up, her wings unintentionally flared. “Hey, look at the time! I’ve got a flock of hungry buzzards to feed!” She yelled through the gate. “You’ll come back for me…right?” Sunny froze, trying to shake off the disappointment she felt from that question. “Of course I will! You’re my friend!” She bent down, face to face with the orange mare (metaphorically speaking). “Friends never get left behind.” She heard AJ choke on the other side of the gate. It opened, and she saw the ivory stallion with AJ’s neck in his magic grip. “Enough chit-chat! You’re buzzard food!” He yelled, slamming the gate closed. /// “That’s why I need your help sheriff.” Sunny stood in Rattlesnake Station’s police building, talking to a half listening stallion named Stars. “If Ah do recall you are a peg-ee-sus.” He said, flicking a toothpick across the room. “Ah don’t help no peg-ee-si.” Sunny slammed slammed a hoof on his desk. “Then don’t help me! Help my friend.” She said, a rage building inside of her like she had never felt before. “Yer friend’s an Earth Pony, correct?” She nodded and he smiled. “Glad to help.” They switched their attention to the door when they heard gunshots outside. “Where’s that pink winged pony?” A stallion shouted, his dragon roaring. Sunny dashed out of the building and stood slackjawed at what she saw. “APPLEJACK!!” Sure enough, the orange mare was dangling over the unicorn's dragon’s back, all hogtied and gagged. She looked up with a strong sadness in her eyes. “There you are little pony…” The bandit leader said. “So you really aren’t dead.” “I can’t say the same for you if you keep her like that any longer!” Sunny screamed, ready to pounce on him. Luckily the sheriff had grabbed her tail. The stallion chuckled. “When I heard you weren’t dead I decided to offer you a nice bargain you can’t refuse.” He slapped the orange mare’s flank, her eyes widening at the contact. She yelped in pain, though it was muffled by the gag. “Your friend…” He looked up to the sheriff. “…For three thousand bits!” The sheriff gasped, while Sunny simply stood her ground. “Done!” She yelled, flying over to her friend. Sheriff Stars stopped her before she could even get near. “Whoa nelly, girl! Three thousand bits is a lot! Ah mean a lot, a lot!” She glanced over at AJ, then looked back at the sheriff. “It may be a lot, but anything is worth losing to have her back in safe hooves!” The ivory stallion smiled. “In that case, TEN thousand bits!” The sheriff gasped again. “Oh nelly, the town doesn’t have that much.” “Then why are you wasting my time? Besides,” The stallion gently circled the apples on AJ’s flank. “I hear southern mares like it up the rear.” The farm pony’s eyes widened in horror as she was taken back to the bandit’s camp. “Applejack!!” The once innocent pony that was now being led to the place in which she would lose her virginity looked up at the pink mare, as a tear rolled down her cheek. “I’ll come for you!” “Wow, what amazing last words to a friend…” Sunny bared her teeth and furrowed her brow. “What do you MEAN last words!?” She growled, pushing her face against the sheriff’s. “It’s just, you go after her…YOU’LL DIE!” Sunny lowered her ears. “Then I’ll die.” Author's Note Did ya see the Red Dead Redemption reference? Yeah, not surprised. I did hide it pretty well. WE SURVIVED!Sunny stood proud in front of the bandit camp, thanking Celestia that the bandits hadn’t…started with AJ yet. She flew over the gate and stood in front of all of the bandits, and Applejack, wings flared. “Bring it on.” AJ’s eyes widened as the bandits all ran after their new meat. Unfortunately for them, Sunny had taken a few cards from Rainbow Dash’s hoof. She blasted through the sky, her wings aching with every wingbeat. She shook her head and reminded herself. This is for AJ. You can’t let them have their way with her. The mere thought sent her into frenzy mode. Her wings probably pumped faster than Dash’s ever did, and she could feel the wind push her back. But it was just a distraction. She dove downwards towards the Ivory unicorn. His eyes widened and he ran for the hills. Uh…like you were getting off that easy Sunny. “What do you think you’re trying to do?” He asked with an angry frown. Sunny screeched to a halt. She looked the stallion over. He wasn’t the slightest bit attractive anymore. “Trying to save the love of my life from wretched animals like you!” She screamed, pushing him down to the ground. AJ froze, completely forgetting what situation she was in. “WHAT!?” She watched as Sunny wrestled the stallion on the ground, trying to come to terms with it all. “Sunny, why didn’t ya tell me...” “Not really the time, AJ!” The farm pony frowned. “No. No, it IS the time! Sunny Days, how could you not tell me ya’ll were-” Sunny froze. Uh-oh. You’re in big trouble now Sunny. She just called you by your full name! "-in love with me this whole gosh-darn time?” The white stallion looked at Sunny, Sunny looked at the unnamed stallion, and both scowled at each other. This one time, he would let her talk. “I thought you wouldn’t want to be my friend anymore…” She said softly, digging at the ground with her hoof. AJ stopped. That shy mare in front of her had just been wrestling a full grown stallion to the ground to save her…and she looks at her like THIS? Sunny’s eyes widened when the tied up mare pulled her into a kiss, dragging her to the ground. AJ pulled away with slight shock at her own actions. “I’m sorry Sunshine.” Sunny couldn’t shake away that dumb look on her face. One of pure lovestruck…ness? GOD I DON’T KNOW ANYMORE! You can take it from here, Bob. “So…you two actually are together.” They looked back at white stallion with the smirk on his face. “Show papa some GOLD!” Without warning, Sunny kicked him in the crotch. “Buck!” He yelped, grasping his junk. “Not in your wildest dreams.” She said with a frown. /// Sunny stood next to AJ as they waited for their ride. The orange mare turned to Sunny and let out a snort of air. She turned to her with a confused look. “What’s wrong AJ?” The pony sighed. “Ah guess it’s just…has it already been five days?” Sunny hugged her. “Yeah, but something great happened in those five days.” She pulled away with a big smile. “Best birthday present ever, am I right?” Applejack rolled her eyes. “We didn’t even ‘do’ anything.” Sunny waved a hoof. “We fell in love!” She declared, leaning backwards over her friend’s back. “About that…” Sunny stood back up, hearing the hesitance in her friend’s voice. “I was thinking, maybe we could pretend this never happened. If Dash finds out I’ll never hear the end of it.” Sunny lowered her head. “Right, of course…” The stetson that was surprisingly still on the mare’s head slowly dipped down over her eyes. “I’m really sorry Sunshine.” She sighed. “Ah just…don’t swing that way? “Really? Then why do you keep calling me Sunshine? That’s what Jip calls me when he wants to get on my good side!” AJ prepared herself for the onslaught of proof after proof. Surprisingly it didn’t come, but instead, a hug. “Please…” Sunny sniffed almost inaudibly. “…I need this. I need you.” AJ very nearly shoved the Pegasus off of her. “Hey, we’ll still be friends.” Sunny shook her head. “It won’t be the same. It never will.” A bright flash appeared before the two found themselves in the library. “So…how was the trip?” Applejack ran around screaming ‘home sweet home’ while Sunny moped on the floor in response to Twilight’s question. “So…not good?” She asked, biting her lip.
