prologue: The search for food.

It was midday in equestria as a new kind of animal searched for food with its starving family.
The human father of the group led his now-pregnant soul mate, his two sons, and a daughter through the thick woods, checking every tree for fruit and under every bush for berries.
With nothing to wear but filthy rags and towels, and facing death from malnutrition, they had to hurry.
As the daughter found what she thought to be berries, the snap of a twig was heard.
The father shushes the group, listening as ever alert to any little sound in the forest. A slight glance in the bushes of a big green eye catches the first sons attention.
Trapped by whatever was hunting them, they all huddle quietly, anxiously scanning the trees. a moment of complete silence follows, before a dozen diamond dogs, carrying swords and nets, charges forward straight out of the trees. The human family scatters, the 1st son following the daughter and the mother and father following the other. despite only being able to run because of her pregnancy, the mother was still able to keep pace with her husband and son, and avoid the dogs hunting them .
but, unfortunately the son ran over a trip wire, and was caught in a net suspended from a tree. The same thing happening with the father.
The mother was nearly out of breath, and she couldn't run anymore. A single dog carrying a net appears in front of her, and using her last bit of strength, leaped over his head and fell to the ground, injuring herself.
she stumbled a couple more feet before getting caught by another net trap.
The diamond dogs surround her, carry her off to a wagon, then load her in.
As she is being shipped off out of the forest, she screams in fear and sadness, where her son and daughter are there to see it as well as hear it.
She sobs quietly to herself as the wagon headed towards canterlot.
chapter 1: scientific breakthrough
In a pale room with a single bright light hanging from the ceiling, the mother is being bribed with berries to write the answers to mathematical equations under the supervision of doctor fauna. Twilight, now a senior student of princess celestia and holding jup a job as a scientist in canterlot, walked in through the door.
"How is this one doing?" she asked
"Human number 9. We gave her just one dose but before, she was already displaying great intelligence. look at her now." Fauna says with a smile.
The human female starts trekking down answers at a furious pace, leaving her briber surprised.
"TWILIGHT! SERIOUSLY, LOOK AT THIS!"
The human solved 3 more problems, then wrote down 2 more to solve herself.
"This is unbelievable. Oh my gosh!"
The human finished up on the small board with her chalk, then took a berry out of the small bowl to eat.
Twilight had to let her boss know. "I'll be right back." she said before running off.
she ran through hallway after hallway dodging other pony scientist and guards. she came into her bosses office, nearly out of breath
"Miss bits, miss bits! I have something to tell you!"
Her boss just frowned, then hesitated before asking. "What is it twilight?"
Twilight was ecstatic. "we've done it. we have made a scientific breakthrough." she pulled out a clipboard showing the human female.
"Human 9, pregnant female. we discovered that humans were already pretty smart, despite being mute, HOWEVER, when we gave her ursa minor 112, her brain power was, boosted!"
Miss Bits sighed. "How many times must I tell you this sparkle? your not here to admire the humans like your friend Fluttershy. youre here to do your job, find a cure for the "brain bugs" disease, and bring in my money."
