Load Full StoryPinkie pranced down the streets of Canterlot, licking the last sprinkles off of her cheeks from Donut Joe's bakery. The rest of her donuts were tucked safely in her saddlebags, inside a box. Seeing a few ponies she recognized from previous travels to Canterlot waved at her. She smiled and waved back, being the social butterfly she was.
The midday breeze picked up, making her mane flow off of its normal resting spot on her back and neck. She began to mindlessly hum a song somewhere mixed between Make A Wish and Smile. That hum evolved into quiet singing as she neared the train station, where The Friendship Express would pick her up an take her home.
Being Pinkie, she snatched another chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles. Without another thought, she sunk her teeth into it, somehow still skipping down the street perfectly with three hooves. After finishing her donut, she sped up, with her train ride approaching in mere minutes.
"Started out great, and I just got better, every day you learn a little bit more!" She mindlessly sang.
"time to celebrate, now we're all together! And in a year we can see what you wished for!" She kept singing.
"Close your eyes and concentrate, my little pony friends, oh uh oh oh, think of all the wishes you could make, why does it ever have to end?" She inhaled before continuing.
"Make a wish it's your birthday, make a wish it's your birthday party! Make a wish it's you-" She stopped every function in her body before ramming into one of the wooden support beams at the train station. She gingerly stepped aside and hopped onto the platform.
Bored of standing still and waiting, Pinkie's eyes started to sightsee without permission of her brain first.
Very few trees grew in Canterlot, being it was almost all pavement, castle or houses. Out the the few that did grow there, well, the pink pony's eyes swooped across them all. Her blue eyes, however, stopped at one oak tree. Nothing was out of place about that one tree, sprouting above the bustling city. But her eyes traveled down the plant.
Sitting there, was none other than the dranquonquis, Discord. His figure was hunched over more than normal, and his expression was anything but mischievous. In fact, it wasn't a happy expression at all.
Pinkie ditched her spot on the waiting platform to talk to her friend.
"Hey, Discordie-Wordie!" She asked with a goofy nickname she had never used before. Discord's gaze turned from the ground to the pink earth pony.
"Oh hello, Pinkie Pie." He said. "Whatever are you doing here?" He asked without his normal demeanour.
"Just covering some delicious business!" She giggled to herself about her accidental rhyme.
"Oh." He simply replied.
"Discord, what's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing, really." He answered. "Just being plain dumb as normal." Pinkie's ears flattened at his response.
"Who said you were dumb?" She asked, sitting down beside Discord's laying form.
"Me." He responded.
"But you're not dumb." She said. "What happened, anyway?" He sat up.
"Well, remember when I gave Celestia those flowers with all the colours of your special rainbow?" He asked.
"Mhm." Pinkie nodded. "Yeah."
"Well, I finally worked up the courage to ask her out today." He said. "When I asked her, she said she thought the flowers were a sign of friendship, and not a relationship." He sighed. "So, she said she'd have to decline he offer." The two became silent for minute.
"That's awful..." She commented.
"And now, I feel humiliated, and broken inside." He said as he covered his eyes with his claw and paw. Pinkie hid a sly smile before continuing.
"Y'know, do you really think Celestia is a good option to be in a relationship with?" She asked.
"What?" He asked.
"I mean, sure, she's beautiful, but really, she had a country to lead, and she doesn't have time for your shenanigans." She continued. "She's always busy and serious." She paused.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"Oh, you know." She rubbed her hoof against Discord's light blue wing's appendage. "Do you really want serious?" She asked.
"Well," He started.
"I mean, somepony like me... Isn't always busy." She said. "In fact, the only time I'm not free is when I have to work."
"What are you getting at?" Discord asked curiously.
"What I'm getting at, is, do you really want Celestia?" She stuck her nose out at him, nearly touching his own. "Or do you want something a little bit more fun, and something more like you?" She asked as she swished her tail.
"I-I- uuuuh.." He stammered for the first time in what seemed like a thousand years. Pinkie sat on her haunches and waited for his answer.
Discord curled his body up like a snake and teleported Pinkie right into the middle. He smiled at her. Pinkie wrapped her arms around his neck and sighed.
"What a good choice." She said. Discord settled his shaky arms on the pink pony's back in return.
Pinkie looked up at him.
"Have you ever been in love?" She asked him.
"With someone who loves me back, no." He answered.
"Why not? You are really handsome." Pinkie responded. Discord blushed.
"No." He looked down. "Being a god of chaos... Not many ponies come around that like you."
"Let me tell you a secret..." Pinkie said. "I loved your chaos."
"I can imagine." Discord replied.
"About love," Pinkie said as she looked upwards. "It's like... A cotton candy cloud with whipped cream, a cherry and lots of other sweets..." She said. "...only better."
"I don't think it's any easy thing to explain." Discord said.
"You're right." Pinkie said. "It's not." She leaned in, connected their lips. Discord's heart skipped a beat as their mouths touched.
As soon as it started, it ended.
"It's just better to demonstrate." Pinkie finished.
"I agree." Discord responded.
Pinkie leaned her head on his shoulder and sighed. Discord stretched his long neck out to rest his head on Pinkie's back.
"All aboard for Ponyville!" Somepony shouted from the train station.
"Pinkie Pie, isn't that your train?" Discord asked.
After curling up in the coil of Doscord's body, she responded with,
"I'd rather stay here with you.
