Chapters DJ Pon3 was not a DJ, for DJs played music made by others, not themselves. DJ Po3 is a musician, some may even go so far as to call her an artist. DJ Pon3, but not Vinyl Scratch. These were two separate ponys, yet the same, for Pon3 was a stage name, and therefore, lived only on the stage. Pon3 was a mare who would never want unnecessary time speaking if she could be pleasing a crown of ponies with her wonderful house track house, not dubstep, but house, and she always corrected such comments as, "Nice dubstep, Pon3."
But Vinyl was different. She was the kind mare who would stand up to her friends. She was the mare who has an apartment bigger than a normal apartment, but smaller than a suite. She was the mare who had the roommate named Octavia, who never told anypony that a figure growing in popularity was in the same building as them.
And at this moment, Vinyl was walking home from the latest concert in her home city, Manehattan. She was thinking of a nice beat for her new house track, with a big boomy kick drum. Yes, she thought, that would be awesome. She then thought about Octavia, wondering if she took out the laundry. She definitely took out the laundry, she's a neat freak, thought Vinyl. She was remembering the rumors that they were lovers, rumors that were quickly dispelled after she got a nice coltfriend named Orange Cream, a name suited for him as he ran the best soda fountain in Manehatten. These were her thoughts as she got ran over by a delivery van she walked in front of. The driver called the ambulances when she saw Vinyl, laying on the ground, bleeding quickly. Vinyl Scratch felt a pain in her eyes as she blacked out.

"She seems to be awake. I'll get back to you with the papers on her recovery. Now get. She needs as little ponies in this room as possible." Said Willa Wisp, the greatest unicorn doctor in Manehatten. She lived right across from Vinyl, and they were good friends. Willa, or rather, Wisp, as she wanted to be called, was a nice girl who wanted nothing more than to prove she could be the doctor that you would want to have if you had any ailment. She also had only one patent at a time, only so she could help anytime she was needed. She had some flaws, such as her habit of doing a lot of drinking when her patients were taken care of. With what she saw almost weekly, that was not a surprise.
"Were am I?", asked Vinyl, groggy and not noticing the obvious. The very bad type of obvious.
"The hospital. Now tell me, what color is this apple?", asked Wisp, floating a green apple fearing the worst.
"What apple? I can't see anything. Is it the medicine you gave for pain or somethin, cause I feel fine and I can't see." rambled Vinyl, have asleep and half unwilling to put two and two together.
"Vinyl, it's not any drugs. I'll walk you home. You can't see because you're blind."
Vinyl could only reply with a very loud FUCK. The only good news was that the room was soundproof.
"What happened? How do you get blinded from a car?" Vinyl asked, after calming down.
"When two shards of glass from a bottle on the road slice up your eyes." Replied Wisp, driving the car that matched her, red, black, and playing music whenever it was on. It was on right now.
"I am sorry, just, whenever you need help, call me. You're phone is voice activated, right?", said Wisp, eyes on the road, sad that she could use them, and not know how to stop hating the feeling that she was better off than her patients. Every time.
"Yeh, could you change the station to a comedy station? I need to laugh.", said Vinyl, hating that she was better off than most people her doctor, her friend, had taken care of. But she still felt this way.
"Sure, I was going to anyways, my favorite station is on right now. Awwwwwww shit. Traffic jam. We'll be here for at least an hour." stated Wisp, she hated traffic. So much.
Vinyl was silent for a second, wondering how to ask this question. "Octavia's at her parent's house this week, can you help me hide the fact that I'm...Blind from her until I'm ready to tell her? We already have a pact that she doesn't move anything unless it's her room, and I don't move anything that's hers, so I need to memorize the layout of the house, is that possible?"
"Yes, but, you need to work. Not only on memorizing, but you're music. Is you're computer made only for unicorns?" Wisp replied, failing to keep the anger and hatred out of her voice.
"Ummmm, yes. I know how to use my magic to make tracks.... Why the check are you so angry?", asked Vinyl, changing the subject.
The only reply came through gritted teeth. "Mother. Fucking. TRAFFIC!"
Ok, thought Vinyl, I will listen to the radio, take my mind off things. She was giggling at the joke about how parents should beat their kids when she thought of something. "Are there marks?"
"Huh?"
"On my eyes. Are there marks."
"No, I had to remove them. They were damped beyond hope. You have glass eyes exactly like your old ones now... I'm so sorry."
"Don't worry, that's good news. I won't have to hide them." Vinyl said with what she hoped was happiness.
"We're here.", said Wisp, hoping she could make this work for everyone.
As the duo walked into Wisp's suite, Vinyl was lost in thought. Mainly how in Equestria she got up her without falling. Maybe she did have a chance of her condition remaining unknown for a while. But why were they in Wisp's home? "Wanna drink? I'm only having one, I think I should not get drunk while helping you."
"No thanks. Let's go.", said Vinyl, wondering if it was to late to change her mind about the drink, even as she said it.
"Fine, let's go.", said Wisp after downing some kind of cocktail.
They went across the hall to a cozy little place, the kind that you looked at and thought, I could stay here awhile. If you could look at anything, that is. "Well, let's start!", said Wisp, dispelling darker thoughts.
*****
"How do you do it?"
"Do what?", said Vinyl curiously. She had the whole place memorized and was relaxing on the couch, making a new house track.
"You just accepted that you wouldn't see again, after a brief bout of anger, you just seem okay with it." Replied Wisp, reading King Rat , a riveting tale by James Clavell.
"Oh. I guess because I can't change it, so I should just accept it. There are plenty of blind ponies who are completely fine. I can be one of them." Replied Vinyl. She was not expecting to suddenly feel her doctor, her neighbor, her friend... hugging her and crying. Crying because she needed to, because for once, maybe it would all end well. She needed to have some one live a happy life after seeing her, because even if she was the best doctor in Manehatten, no one ever left happy.
Because for all the care they were given, they all lost hope. But now Willa had found the one patient who had hope.
And if you looked into that apartment, you would see two mares, hugging and crying, one out of relief, one out of sympathy.
On the outside, Vinyl was happy. She was acting. Wisp left over a hour ago, trusting Vinyl to not fall out the window. Vinyl remembered the conversation they had before Wisp went home. "Why did you ask if I could see an apple if I have glass eyes?", wondered Vinyl. A logical question.
"Those eyes are enchanted, if you weren't a unicorn, you should see. But unicorns have magic, and it offsets the enchantment." Replied Wisp.
That did make sense, but even though she looked fine, she hated not seeing. So much. But she was acting. She was not Vinyl, she was DJ Pon3, happy, healthy, and not thinking of what she could not see.
She was thinking of her doctor, and if she liked mares. No, she asked before, and she said no. That was that. Vinyl remembered wanting to have a marefriend once, but not wanting to have more people she could not be with. Being a musician can be hard sometimes. She fell asleep to the radio playing music that came from the black box. Lost in nothing but black.

"Wakey wakey. I have a surprise for you.", said Wisp. That did not work.
"GET UP!", she screamed.
It worked. Vinyl was up. And angry. Very angry. "What are you doing here!", asked Vinyl, recognising her friend's voice.
"I got you a date. Lunch. Five hours. Her name is Lavender. She's cute. You will be meeting at The Grassy Knoll ."
Vinyl let that news settle. "You arranged a date for me, with a mare I don't know. And you still realize that I am BLIND!"
"Yep. If you show up early, she won't know. I can drive you.", came the reply. A few seconds passed. "Look," started Wisp, "you need to be happy. You aren't. You need to have someone who is more than a friend to talk to. Give it a try."
After a few seconds, the reply came. "Fine. Let's Get ready."

Lavender. She was the pegasus mare who's coat was the color of her name. Her hair has two different colors, purple with yellow stripes. She was very cute, even her blue eyes were so cute straight mares look at her with want. But she was taken. Taken by the white coated mare with the red eyes, and the hair with two shades of electric blue. Vinyl was cute too. Vinyl was also better at opening up a conversation. "You work at the flower shop right?"
"Yes I do. I love it there, so beautiful. So many colors.", replied Lavender, thankful that the date did not start awkwardly.
Yet Vinyl was not as happy to be reminded of colors, due to the lack of those in her world. "You are a musician, correct?"
The question snapped Vinyl away from her thoughts. "Um.. Yes. My stage name is DJ Pon3."
"Oh. I love your house music. You're very good. And cute.", said Lavender, teasing the mare across from her.
"Th-thank you. You're uhhh. You're cute too.", came the awkward reply.
Wisp smiled from her table not to far away. This was going nicely.
