Spike was strolling through downtown Sunnydale early in the evening looking for someone to quench his thirst, when he saw a small shop in the back of an alley. Curiosity got the best of him and he went to go check it out, it was a magic shop but smaller and with less selection. It was also dark and there was no one behind the counter. There was a door marked "Danger-Keep Out" even more curious, he opened the door. there was a long dark hallway and he couldn't see the end, he followed it and found another door. He opened it and found himself in a large dusty room filled with old objects and artifacts. He left the room and found a set of stairs leading up so he climbed the stairs, they seemed to go on forever. when he got to the top he found an immaculate throne room with two thrones. one had a sun above it and looked like it was used recently, the other one had a moon above it and was covered in dust, he guessed that it hadn't been used in years. Suddenly he heard a voice,
"Hello, you're new, I didn't expect to see anyone in here."
Spike spun around in shock and saw a large winged horse with a horn, it looked feminine and was white with a pink, blue and, green mane, she also had a sun on her flank. He hesitantly and quietly asked
"Where am I, and who are you?"
The horse replied,
"You are in Canterlot Castle, the capitol city of Equestria, I am Princess Celestia, the ruler of this country. What is your name and where are you from?"
Spike was confused but decided to answer her questions
"I am Spike or William the Bloody, I come from a city called Sunnydale, I came through a hallway in a small unoccupied shop."
Princess Celestia didn't look surprised.
"I assume you want to get back home but unfortunately the portal you came through is closed and won't open again for quite some time, you are stuck here until it reopens. I think I know what to do with you until then, you will accompany my star student Twilight to Ponyville and stay there for the time being."
Twilight was in the Canterlot Library looking up the story on Nightmare Moon, when she found a prophecy predicting her escape, she immediately dictated a letter to Spike, her dragon assistant, describing the prophecy and had him send it to Princess Celestia. Twilight was very worried, and asked Spike if he thought the princess would take extreme measures to prevent the prophecy from coming true.
"I don't know, Twilight it's just a prediction, it might not even be true, besides I bet the princess has it covered."
Spike said,
"I hope you're right, but I'm still worried"
she replied. Suddenly Spike burped up a letter, it was from the princess.
"let's see what she has to say about it"
Twilight said as she unrolled it and started to read.
"My most faithful student, Twilight,
I appreciate your concerns but you really should get out more, I have some tasks for you. First I would like you to go to Ponyville to check on the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, I also need you to take a visitor to Ponyville, his name is Spike, but to prevent confusion with your number one assistant you can call him William, just a heads up he's not a pony and he's not anything you've seen before either. He is an entirely new species so try to make him feel comfortable. Finally the most important thing for you to do is to meet new ponies and make friends.
Your loving teacher, Princess Celestia"
"What?!"
yelled Twilight,
"I can't believe it, I'll just have to check on the preparations as quickly as possible then try to find out more about this prophecy"
Spike then asked
"But what about making new friends like she said?"
"I'll be too busy making the new visitor comfortable in Ponyville"
she said
"Besides making friends won't save the world from Nightmare Moon"
Princess Celestia was just finishing packing for William's stay in Ponyville, she also planned to have him leave at night so he wouldn't be in sunlight on his trip.
"is that everything I need?"
he asked her,
"Almost everything"
she said
"but the rest should be waiting for you in Ponyville, I have made arrangements for you to stay with a zebra in a shack in the Everfree Forest so you will be provided with constant shade"
"What should I do for food?"
he asked. She told him
"There are many creatures in the forest for you to feed on, but don't attack anything that can talk or I will be forced to take action."
despite her calm demeanor, she did look intimidating with her long horn and large size.
He then went to meet up with Twilight for the trip to Ponyville, Spike the dragon asked him lots of questions but Twilight was upset and stayed quit for the whole trip. Spike the dragon asked the vampire all about his life before coming to Equestria,
"It all started with my mother, she always supported my poetry hobby,"
he started out, then a few hours later they arrived on the outskirts of town near by the forest. William the Bloody decided to go meet the zebra he was staying with, he was told her name was Zecora. Spike the dragon and Twilight went to go check on the preparations, so he went down the forest path by him self.
