Listening to this suits the mood: ******
Who am i? I thought to myself. My body felt numb, and i couldn't even bring myself to move. I don't know anything. I cannot think at all. The only thing that i could recognize was darkness.
"Rainbow Dash!" I heard a voice call out. Yeah...I was called that once. Many people called me that.
I could see an orange Pegasus with a purple mane standing in the darkness. She seemed to be speaking to me. "You always have to show off, don't you?" Yeah, maybe i do. She quickly vanished away.
A purple dragon adorned in armor soon appeared after her. "Why, you worthless mendicant!" He yelled at me. Yep...sounds about right. He soon disappeared as well.
A bright orange pony with a red hat and blonde mane showed herself. "Well 'aint that just your style?" My style...? Before i could question her, she was gone.
A yellow Pegasus with a pink mane and tail was next. She was facing away from me. "I really learned a lot by traveling with you, Rainbow Dash." She left too. Yeah, right. I have nothing to teach...
I was surprised by a bright pink pony popping into view. "You taught me that many things are more important than just parties." The earth pony vanished. No! I don't know anything!
"You call that friendship?" A griffon was standing before me. She wouldn't even look me in the eye, before dissapating too. Friendship... Friendship...?
"Rainbow Dash!" Lastly, i saw a purple Unicorn standing ahead of me. She had a look on her face as if she was scolding me. I don't know...who i am...
This one didn't leave right away. "You were always there for me, Rainbow..." I'm so...tired... "How come you're always so...?"
I...I am... an... empty... vessel...
"Rainbow Dash!" A voice pulled me from my unconsciousness. Who? "Wake up, Rainbow!" Who...? "Come on, Rainbow, wake up!"
I finally opened my eyes, causing a massive headache from the sudden light. "Ow..." Was all i muttered. All i could tell was i that i was in a lone chair. The room seemed to resemble a cave, and there were 2 Pegasi in front of me.
"Rainbow Dash!" The yellow one yelled, adding to my headache. "Fluttershy... Scootaloo..." I stated their names as the memories began to surface.
Scootaloo sighed. "Thank goodness, you're alive! We thought you were dead!" She was a little too over excited.
"Oh... I..." Still, i couldn't bring myself to utter any words. After everything i just witnessed, after all i just learned about my origin...i didn't want anything to do with them.
Fluttershy chipped in before i could finish. "We were so worried! Why did you come here all by yourself?" I started to wish she would mind her own business.
"What...are you doing here?" I finally asked. Not paying any attention to their concerns.
"Huh?" Fluttershy stuttered. She also seemed to shrink a bit. "We came to save you, of course..."
"And it wasn't easy!" I turned back to Scootaloo, who was glaring at me, with her orange wings spread out. You went off all alone!" Great. Now SHE was lecturing me.
I had enough, and started to limp my way past the two. "Leave me alone..." I had hoped that would be the end of it.
"Huh?" I heard Scootaloo ask.
Without even looking back at them, i replied. "This has nothing to do with you." I kept moving forward, hardly able to walk.
Fluttershy's voice came next. "Oh, come on!"
I just kept limping, hoping they would catch the hint. But, sure enough Scootaloo chipped in again. "There she goes, being the tough mare... Look, Rainbow Dash... It's not just about you."
I didn't stop. I didn't even reply. I heard their hooves clopping on the floor behind me. "Come on, Rainbow..." I heard Fluttershy again. "Don't be like that. Let's-"
"Shut up!" I couldn't take their lecturing anymore. "Just shut up, you stupid brat!" I heard them gasp behind me. That got their attention. I continued limping through the entrance of the room.
I didn't want them following me, so i closed the large gate hanging above the doorway, locking them in. I heard one of them yell out "Rainbow Dash?!" I didn't pay any heed. I didn't care about them.
I paused for a moment, but they kept their antics up. "Rainbow, wait up!" "You need rest, Rainbow Dash!"
"Will you little twits just shut up!" I didn't know what it took for them the figure it out, so i continued limping ahead. I couldn't have gone more than 5 feet before i heard a loud whinny! "There are some things kids can't understand."
Just then, a huge, disfigured Pegasus-looking creature landed in front of me. With little strength, i unsheathed my dagger and held it tight in my mouth. It blasted me with a magic attack, but i didn't feel much. I sped quickly and gave it a deep gash in one of it's 2 right wings. Injured, the beast flew into the air. I couldn't bring the strength to flap my own wings, and waited for it to come down.
"Looks like you need some help." a familiar voice chipped in from beside me. I turned, and saw a pony wearing a pointed red hat. Applejack, standing on her rear hooves, and balancing herself with her long dragon knight's spear. I didn't argue, seeing as i couldn't reach the creature. We waited for the monster to dive, but something slammed into it from above. It crashed to the ground, and turned back to face us, dragging it's hoof across the ground twice. Another voice came from my other side. "Can't you even take care of yourself?" That gravely voice belonged to none other than Gilda the Griffon. She landed next to me, her talons out and ready.
We made quick work of the beast, and as it fell, i continued walking down the hallway, but not before getting cut off by A.J. "That was plain dumb of you to go off all alone like that." I didn't respond.
Gilda had her own share to say. "Damn Hypocrite. Always talking about friendship, when you're nothing but a selfish loner." I could detect the sarcasm, but she was being somewhat honest.
"I can take care of myself." I felt like i was talking to me more than them, as if i needing convincing.
The dragon knight grabbed my shoulder with her hoof "Hold up, Rainbow!" I just shrugged her off without a care. I didn't need those two, i didn't need those brats, i didn't need anypony.
I groggily approached some stairs, closing the second door behind me. I stumbled down as best i could, before i heard a loud "Bwagh!" "AYE AYE AYE!" I darted my head up to see Spike and Pinkie Pie rolling backwards. A large bug-like monster had swatted them back.
Spike jumped up first. "I will not be defeated so easily!"
Pinkie followed suit. "Now I'm mad! I'm gonna cook you good!"
I would have probably laughed at any other time. "Spike... Pinkie... What are you doing...?" I didn't understand what was going on. That monstrous, standing cockroach, the Abadon, obviously had them beat.
They didn't hear me. Instead Spike charged with his sword, and Pinkie, with her large trusty fork. "Have at thee!!!" "Taste this!!!"
I watched them combat the insect for a minute. They were too slow for it. It would blast them away with a gust of wind, or slice at them with it's large claws, before flying off. I couldn't stand it anymore. I darted over and picked Pinkie up, dagger at the ready. "You guys..." I couldn't say much else. I couldn't comprehend what was going on.
Spike didn't turn to me, but kept his eyes on the bug. "You're late, Rainbow!" It wasn't a scold, but more playful. I felt a small chuckle inside. Why was he even joking at a time like this?
Pinkie distracted the large creature with her large Party Cannon, which i still can't explain, while Spike and I pincered the Abadon. We gutted the creature in one strike, and made sure it didn't get back up.
Spike turned to make sure Pinkie wasn't too badly hurt. Afterwards, he turned to me. "Hmph! What an unworthy opponent!"
Pinkie rushed up, grabbed my fore-hooves in hers, and pleadingly looked into my eyes. "Rainbow Dash, you can't leave us!" She even finished it with a pout, her blue eyes getting even larger. "I still want you to take me places and have awesome parties!"
Spike shrugged a bit. "And i have not yet concluded whether or not you are the right mare for her Highness, mind you!" That must have been his attempt at a joke.
I wanted to laugh, but deep down, i knew i can't co-exist with them anymore. I just limped slowly past them. "Just... leave me alone. I don't want to trouble you anymore." It was true. I am an enemy of Equestria. I don't belong with them. All i will do is cause trouble.
They didn't stop me as i continued through the hallway. It couldn't be much farther now. I'm going to find Discord, and defeat him myself. Closing another door behind me, i shouted into the open room. "You're all a bunch of babysitting bastards!"
My mood switched quickly from anger to depression as i continued walking. "But trust me," I spoke aloud again. "I know that I'm the worst bastard here..." I mumbled to myself as i noticed the large Shell Dragon before me. It was gonna be tough. But if i couldn't beat this thing, how was i gonna beat Discord?
I drew my dagger, and charged at it. I managed to get 2 slices in it's soft tissue before it charged into me, lacking the mobility to hit me with it's claws. I tumbled a few times, finally noticing the bit of blood i was actually losing. I had been hurt worse than i thought in the previous battles. I couldn't give up now, i tried to charge it again, but it slammed me into the ground with it's massive claw. I spat my dagger out of my mouth, and wheeze painfully as i was crushed beneath it's weight. My rainbow mane fell in my eyes as I tried to get up, but i could feel something was broken. Is this really how it all ends? I can't even beat a stupid monster?! Somehow, i had accepted the fact that this was nearly my full potential, and i could get no stronger. Just how i was created.
I tried to close my eyes, but a bright light caught my attention. White circled around me, and penetrated my skin, making my pain disappear. I pulled myself up, feeling 100% now. I hopped out of my crater i was in to see Twilight standing next to me. "Twilight!" I couldn't help but shout. It made me feel so warmed inside to see her.
The purple Unicorn whipped her darker purple mane out of her eyes. She was holding a large staff with her magic next to her. "Is this how you want to solve the problem?" She too scolded me. But from her, i actually listened, and cringed a little inside.
The Shell Dragon roared, bringing our attention back to the task on hand. We could argue later. With my renewed strength, and Twilight's Bahamut, we quickly defeated the Shell Dragon.
I sheathed my dagger, and walked to her. "Twilight..."
She cut me off. "You try to do everything by yourself, don't you?" She wasn't going to have any of my crap, it turned out.
I raised a hoof to her. "Try to understand... I don't want to cause trouble to anypony." Even now, i felt like i was trying to convince myself that that was the truth.
Twilight just stomped the ground angrily. "Aren't we your friends!?" Her eyes pierced into mine with a stare i had never seen. One of anger, disbelief, pity, i couldn't tell.
"I want to think so! That's why i always..." My words couldn't finish the explanation, because i had no words. "Look, I'm not from Equestria. I was just a hairbreadth away from becoming the destroyer of Canterlot." This time, i stomped, shutting my eyes. "I can't accept your friendship so easily!" I didn't hear her respond, so i opened my eyes to see her standing a few feet away.
"You've always protected us..." Twilight muttered. She turned around, a sad look in her eyes. "But you still don't understand that we looked out for you, too!" That made me recoil. I hadn't expected Twilight to say that. "We watched your back while you watched ours. And we believed in you the same way you believed in us!" She lowered her head, leaving me to feel like an idiot. "Just like you protected us... We want to protect you." The unicorn's head rose, showing a smile and tears in her eyes.
"Twilight..." I couldn't believe what it was i was hearing. I hadn't even thought of my comrades thinking the same way about me.
"You said it, sister!" Pinkie appeared from behind me, bouncing over to Twilight. "My master always told me: If somepony gives you tasties, you give them tasties too. Is good manners! And i still haven't cooked you a delicious cupcake yet, Rainbow!" She ended with a giggle.
Spike had followed, slapping an armored hand onto my back. "Chivalry requires a knight to look after his comrades-in-arms. So i will not abandon you." Even Rusty was opening up to me. How had i not seen it before? "And i shall follow you to Kingdom come if i must. You remember that." He gave me a thumb claw up.
"Spike..." I still was looking for words like a bumbling idiot. I finally managed a chuckle. "Ha... What am i gonna do with you guys?" I felt a small tear well up in my eyes.
"The feeling is mutual." The dragon chuckled.
Before this got too far out of hand, Twilight interrupted. "Alright, let's go!" She paused, looking around a moment. "Wait. Where are the others?"
I gasped, realizing that i left them behind. "You don't think they were trapped, do they?"
Pinkie chipped in. "It IS possible."
"You should not have left them." Spike merely stated.
Twilight interjected. "Yeah! I mean really!"
"Aww..." i playfully pouted. "I'm sorry. Let's head back... Together, this time."
We all nodded and quickly made our way to where The others were waiting.
