A Ray of Hope

"Earth,

3rd planet from our sun, only planet in our solar system to support life. A beautiful sphere of blue and green floating in the ever expanding space. One of the few planets that we know of to support life in the universe. Once very beautiful now destroyed. Destroyed by pollution and war waged by the humans. The world has had many wars in its life time. But the worst one of all was known as the World Annihilation. The World Annihilation had more deaths than WW2 and WW1 combined.

By now Earth had sent lots of probes out and those probes were exploring other galaxy and countless worlds.

After 2070 the world started to fall apart. The largest countries at the time, Russia, USA, China, and The Middle East as a whole had publicly announced that the world had run out of oil and most to all fossil fuels. Gas prices skyrocketed, people buying a load of gas and other oil products to save into the future. Little skirmishes were appearing around the world for gasoline. Electric bills went up because to make electricity the companies had to use oil or gasoline or coal to create electricity. People were not yet worried about the future and continued to pollute.

During April of 2070 the Brazilian goverment announced that the last tree of the amazon rainforest had been cut down. Wood prices sailed to 20 times their original price. People reverted to making metal houses with lots of windows. The rain forest had been replaced with more factories in a matter of months.

In 2075 the Strategic Petroleum Reserve had gone dry, the last resort for oil. The President announced this horrifying news on television. That night thousands of people protested in front of the White House. The Secret Service Defended resulting in 5 deaths.

By 2125 oil was a luxury selling for 20 times more than gold. The rich were taking the last of the unprotected oil for themselves. The UN had created a Worldwide Oil Reserve to keep the last of the oil which was about a few hundred barrels and keep it under lock and key guarded by the military. Other countries were not so lucky though. Many fell into anarchy the people killing the leaders for treason and then raiding the government buildings hoping to find a gallon or two in the vaults. The United States had declared a national emergency  with the destruction of many of its allies. Many countries started to steal oil for the country as a whole. China, thinking North and South Korea had a supply of oil sent troops there to steal it. After not finding any they nuked Korea. The 2 countries were destroyed in a huge mushroom cloud. Russia retaliated by destroying most of China. The US was next with a major country wide power outage shutting down the entire country. Everything went to a standstill. People started to become angry and attacked the military and the law enforcement destroying the United State's government in a matter of weeks. The crippled government tried to come back but it just couldn't. By now there were weather patterns of smog around the globe and people had masks on 24/7 to filter the air.

in 2124 riots were happening all over the world at this point with a few of the largest countries still surviving on sheer willpower. People were becoming worried at this time many of the strongest and most influential governments were gone. Destroyed by the greed of some other. The remaining countries of the UN started to come out with an idea on how to survive...

In 2128 World War 3 had broken out and it was really the bigger countries bullying the smaller countries for control of what was left of fossil fuels. The war lasted for many years with many deaths on an extreme scale. People were fighting for about 5 or 6 barrels of oil and 3 wheelbarrows of coal at this point. The war ended with the mass nuking of many parts of Europe, Asia and some of North America. Once the bombs fell around Salt Lake city Eastern US was formed with the west being a smoking, radioactive wasteland. The leaders of E.US being a few surviving military generals. The generals created a huge wall in the Midwest to keep the radioactive waste from spreading.

In 2148 a new technology bloomed that used solar energy. It was hard to collect energy from the sun because there was so much smog in the air it blocked out the sun. The company created airplanes, boats, cars, and almost every vehicle used off solar energy. Commerce started slowly back up again with people traveling around the world again. Life was good for a couple of years until the infection started.

But then the worldwide epidemic caused by pollution started to spread killing many all over the world. People were dying in the millions every day. The UN had started to collect animal and plant specimens so they could be moved to the new Earth.

By 2150 the epidemic had spread throughout half of the world having over 3 billion people infected and dying. Many of the biggest countries created walls to protect its inhabitants. These countries seised all commerce from other infected countries and banned travel. The UN needed a solution to this epidemic before it infected the whole world. The last leaders of the world made a decision. they were going to send astronauts into space to find a new planet that could sustain life so the human race could survive and have the last remaining survivors of the infection leave the diseased Earth.

Then in April of 2155 plans for the largest rocket ever was going to be built the Revive. and in 2165 it had finished and the group of soldiers and scientists who were chosen to go into the rocket were picked to find the new earth as quickly as they could.The rocket was launched where the old Amazon rainforest once existed. Now we are waiting until the astronauts find a new planet." The historical holoprojector finished its presentation of Project: New World and shut off.

David looked around the ship they were never going to find this planet were they? Then Doc, one of the scientists burst in "Dave we have found a planet with some unusual results come and see!" David heaved himself up and went into the cockpit. His eyes widened as he saw the planet. The planet was green and oddly had a star orbiting around it as well as a moon. "Well are we going to see if this place is inhabited or not?" Sandra asked to Doc. "We shall see in a moment" Doc muttered as the ship descended into the planet's atmosphere...
