“Uh, what happened,” I said in a daze. I stepped out of the pod and kind of fell over, “ugh where am I” I asked myself? I got back up and I started to wander around to try and find some clue on where I am. I felt around on the walls with my hoof until I found some sort of a switch. I flipped the switch and filled the dismal room full of light. The room looked broken and old, the fluorescent light was hanging by a wire, and the walls were broken and mangled. The table in there was flipped over and there were papers everywhere. The other two pods were broken, the glass was cracked and there were even huge holes in them.
I decided it would be better if I left the room and wander around here to see if I could find anypony. When I went to the door, it was hard to open at first, I rammed the door with my shoulder and fell over when the door flung open, just as I fell on the floor, a beam fell and nearly hit me, lucky it got caught on the remains of the wall, this entire hall way was charred and devastated. There were pieces of the roof all over the floor. It looked as if a storm had come through here. As I walked through the decrepit hall I could see that most of the rooms were already destroyed. When I thought all hope was lost I could see a closed metal door with few scorch marks on it. I trotted over to the door and tried ramming it again, but to no avail. I tried a few more times, but the door would not budge, I then turned away and bucked the door with all my strength and i could hear the door move a little, I bucked again, and again until the door looked as if it were open. I turned to it and tried pushing it again, and this time the door moved, only to have some debris fall onto me, turning my red coat a brownish color.
As I looked around the room I could see a desk with a few scorched papers and a few lockers. As I checked the lockers I was loosing hope as there seemed to be nothing in them, however as I checked the last locker, I found some clothing in there. As I donned the clothing I could see it was simple made. The color was of the nights sky, and as I looked it over I could see NLR printed on the shoulder of the front right hoof. I shrugged it off and found a saddle bag, as I picked it up I began to look over the contents, I found a knife, a helmet, a journal, and a dog tag. after I had looked at them, what caught my eye the most was the dog tag, and I quickly looked at it.
Macintosh,Big
Big,A
O POS
NLR
"Huh that must be my name," I then slid the tags on my neck and looked at the journal, as I opened it, I could see that the first page simply said Lieut Col Big Macintosh. As I looked through the rest of the book I could see that most of the pages had been torn out. I closed the book and tucked it away in my saddle bag before I left the room. I continued to look around until I heard a crash in another room. I froze as I turned to the dark room to my right. I gulped down my fear and walked into the room. I stayed close to the wall as tried to find a switch, as I did and turned it on, it only flicked on and off as I looked around the room. There were boxes everywhere and I could hear movement from behind one of them, as I slowly approached the box, the creature lunched at me and I backed away. I was about to attack when I saw it was a simple black cat. I sighed in relief and then felt a large pain hit the back of my head, the world began to swirl around me as darkness flooded my eyes and as I fell down with a thud, before my eyes closed i could see hoofs in front of me.
I wake up several hours later with a throbbing headache as I looked around and saw the same pair of hooves from before, as I got up I could hear a calming voice speak,
"You don't want to push yourself just yet." the Unicorn said.
I took there advice into consideration as I stood and looked at them,
"I'm sorry that I hit you like I did." the Unicorn apologized.
I tilted my head, not knowing his intention as he offered me a hoof,
"You must be Big Macintosh,my names Sandstorm Flint," Sandstorm stated.
I shook his hoof and finally spoke,
"How'd y'all know my name?" I questioned.
At this he simply smiled and looked up,
"Because when you were first put in there, they told me to watch over you until you woke up, however as you can see the facility isn't what it used to be," Sandstorm explained.
He chuckled a little and began to walk away and gestured for me to follow.
"How long was I in there?" I asked with an expression of sorrow.
At this he stopped as he looked at me and simply said,
"too long," Sandstorm replied with a distant tone.
before he began to walk again.
We walked a while and stopped in a large room with a large slanted metal hatch to one side. Sandstorm made his way to to a console and began to work his magic, and after a while a buzzer began to go off as the door opened slowly, as it began Sandstorm walked over to me and handed me a brown trench coat.
"It would be best if you wore this," Sandstorm explained.
I looked at him for a moment before I finally spoke,
"Why would that be?" I asked with a puzzled expression.
The unicorn in front of me looked me in the eyes,
"Trust me." Sandstorm said, with a hopeful expression.
I nodded and thought to trust him, he was the first pony I met and seemed to know more about me then I did. I made my way to the hatch as it stopped and the sun seemed to blind me at first before my eyes adjusted to the scenery outside. I could see nothing but desert as I walked out, and I looked back to see the hatch closing and Sandstorm yelling,
"There's a caravan ahead and be careful to not take off the coat."
Before I could say my thanks the hatch had closed and locked again.
