-if your favorite pony dies in an unsatisfactory way, I apologize in advance

You drop all of the apples you were carrying and hobble around the hill into the woods near camp, knowing that showing yourself suddenly could cause the entire situation to go to hell… if there is still a situation. Continuing, you still hear a whimpering and voices but you are still too far away to understand what they are saying. You take extra care to avoid downed branches so as to not alert the entity causing Hope to scream. I need to hurry, you think as you almost forget to ready your plasma cutter. Pulling it out, you sneak through the woods behind the truck until you see a clearing through the foliage. Taking inventory of the situation, you see several gold-clad pegasi surrounding the area, in the middle of the clearing there is the unicorn from last night along with five others you didn’t know, two more pegasi, another unicorn, and two normal ponies, and two more ponies, each larger than the others. They both had wings and horns, and atop their heads were tiaras. So these are the princesses the purple one was talking about. You can see Hope being restrained by one of the armored pegasi, with the two larger ones talking to her.

Not good, I need a good distraction so can grab Hope get in the truck and go, you think as you move closer to the scene. You hear a sharp CRACK!

“What was that?!” a white guard in bright purple armor yells.

“Fuck…”

“You two! Go check it out,” he commanded.

“Yes, sir!” they saluted.

“Not good,” you mutter, trying to find any means of concealing yourself. Settling on the tree above you, you begin to climb. You can hear the two guards coming closer, as you position yourself above where you just were. They come into view and begin to sweep the area for any sign of your presence. You smile as they return to their commander empty handed…

“Hi there!” you freeze as a super high pitched voice says from behind you.

You turn to see a pink pony mere inches away from your face. The shock causes you to lose your balance and fall down on to the two guards. The fall caused the splint on your leg to break, sending several splinters into your leg. The guards grab you with the same force field as the purple unicorn did last night and bring you into the clearing.

“Found what the noise was. It was another one of those things.”

“Well, well, well; what do we have here? “ The one in purple armor started, “Who are you supposed to be?”

“Like I’ll tell the asshole trying to kidnap my family,” you retort, gesturing to the entire company.

“Shining, make sure to restrain its appendage, that’s how it got away last time.” After that being said a dark purple glow came from Shining’s horn and enveloped you… including your arms.

“Now, what makes you think we were kidnapping? We were arresting her for the death of the local zebra, Zecora.”

You simply sigh, "Do you really think that she could kill anything? I didn’t kill the zebra either… the only thing I killed was a manticore.”

“Likely story, manticores are nearly impossible to kill, let alone by a stick like yourself,” Shining retorted.

“If you want I can show you how and why I did it.”

“You can tell us.”

“Do you want your brain to explode from information over load?” You bluffed

“No…” he said slightly confused.

“Then you will let me show you… don’t worry no one will be killed in my little demonstration.”

“Ok…. No funny business now.” He said releasing you from the field.

Slightly surprised he fell for the trick, you pretend to demonstrate.

“Ok I’ll need everyone to move away from that tree,” you say pointing to a thick tree next to where two guards were standing.

They reluctantly move away from the trees, but as they pass by you grab one around the neck and Spartan-kick the other to the ground next to Shining.

“Hey! You can’t do this to a royal guard!” the captured stallion protested.

“I am from another world. Your laws mean nothing to me, and in my books you tried to kidnap my daughter.”

“You won’t get away with this!” Shining yelled.

“On the contrary, you see, I still haven’t shown you what this does,” you say, gesturing to your plasma cutter.

“Fine, what do you want?”

“I want the immediate release of my daughter, and to be left alone.”

“Thou shalt not be left alone for thine crimes!” the navy blue Pegasus/unicorn shouted.

“You don’t have much of a choice.”

“Do I get a say in this?” the guard in your grasp pleads.

“No, now let’s get one thing clear; I did Not kill that zebra. I only killed the manticore and that even was in self-defense. The bastard broke my femur,” you say lifting you pant with your plasma cutter hand, showing the discolored appendage.

“If you didn’t kill Zecora then what did?”

“I do not know all I know is I still haven’t gotten my daughter back and my trigger finger is getting really itchy right about now.”

“Oh sweet Celestia no,” the unhappy pony prayed.

“Daddy…” Hope, who had been released because the guards were too busy surrounding me.

“Hope, get in the truck. Please, I don’t want you to have to watch.”

“But… Daddy… don’t… please,” she almost to tears now.

“No buts; now get in the truck,” after you say this, she sulks back to the truck and gets in the driver’s side.

“Well, it seems one of my demands have been met,” this brought a sigh of relief for the guard ponies.

“But… now how about my second request?”

“Can’t we just talk this out?” one of the ponies that weren’t guards or princesses said.

“Didn’t think of that when you tried to take custody of Hope now did you?”
“My little ponies are right, surely we can settle this through diplomatic means?” the white princess asked.

“None of your political bullshit can persuade me… and don’t call me Shirley.”

“I never called you Surely. And…” Her sentence was cut off by an ungodly groan coming from the forest. It not only shocked you to hear it, but the realization came that this entire world is damned.

It came out of the bushes opposite the princesses. You have hardly any time to react as the blades of the slasher, pierced the pony you are holding. He let out a blood-curdling scream as the necromorph ripped open his bowels, spilling his guts on the ground. You drop the pony as the slasher viciously attacked the poor pony. Observing the scene, you notice that the slasher is pony-shaped and has black and white stripes on its disfigured body. Your observations were disrupted as the slasher, satisfied with its work, turned to you and charged. Your reflexes this time beat it, though, as you quickly took off its legs and blades, killing it. To be sure, though, you proceed to walk over to it and curb-stomp its head, which burst into a million bloody pieces.

“Sweet Celestia,” Shining said as he galloped to his fallen comrade’s side.

“Private! Stay with me! Private stay awake! NO!!” Shining shouted as his soldier slowly died in his hooves.

“You may want to move away for this next part,” you say to the grief-stricken commander.

“What are you going to do?”

“Make sure he doesn’t turn into one of them.”

“What, why? How?” he said slightly intimidated.

“That thing was a necromorph; their only purpose is to kill everything living that isn’t one of them. That’s why I came here, some crazy people worshiped the thing that made the original necromorph, and they got loose and overran the entire planet, killing my entire species. The only way to make sure that he cannot be turned is to destroy the corpse beyond reconstruction. The necromorphs are highly durable even being able to withstand decapitation, burning, and extreme blood lose without even flinching. Furthermore, this necromorph seems to be one of the advanced forms.”

“Meaning?”

“Meaning, this necromorph was created by an infector, they are the ones that stay back from the fighting and turn any viable corpses into new necromorphs, but also are extremely dangerous up close. “

“That sounds awful,” the white unicorn/Pegasus said.

“Oh no, there are more types of necromorph than I care to count, but they all have several things in common… they are all smart, deadly, tough, and fast.”

“How did you survive?” the purple unicorn from last night asked.

“By showing no mercy and trusting few.”

“That’s no way to live.”

“No… it’s the way to stay alive.”

“By living in a world of isolation? What happened to love what happened to friendship?”

“It died with everyone else in my world. The only love I have is for my daughter, everyone else is just a liability.”

“That’s not true.”

“Is that so? Have you ever seen entire cities, with millions of people, become deserted in a matter of hours with no survivors?”

“No…”

“Have you seen governments lie to the populace’s face as everyone around them died?”

“No…”

“Have you had to kill the only one you have ever loved just to survive?” you subconsciously start to move toward the quivering unicorn.

“No…”

“And have you ever had to watch your world burn with a fire that will and can never be extinguished?” you are towering over her at this point.

“No…”

You pick her up by the scruff of her next, like a dog would its pup, “Then when you witness all of these things and still have friends, come back and we will have this conversation again.”

“Hey! Put my sister down!” the commander yelled at you, crouching in an attack position.

“Oh fuck off Shinny. You would have done something by now if you were any sort of soldier,” he obviously was shaken either by your use of a nick name or your assault on his honor as a soldier.

“All right I have seen enough,” the white princess said.

“Seen enough of what? How I am when I’m angry… This isn’t angry, this is annoyed, but right now you are pushing angry.”

“No, I’ve seen enough to know that you are a danger to my little ponies and need to be detained immediately,” she said stoically.

“Ohhhh,” you say like your scared, “I so scared. A white princess thinks I’m a danger and wants me detained. If you were as caring as you think you are you’d have done something to help the private over there. As far as I’m concerned, you’re no better than the rulers that lied to a dying man’s face.”

That was the last straw for her. She jumped at you, horn glowing and wings flared. You dodge but drop the crying unicorn from your grasp. She obviously saw the opening from your dodge for she fired a magic bolt right at you, hitting you square in the chest, and sending you sprawling on your back.

She then flies up and lands over you. Pointing her glowing horn straight at your face. You quickly hit her in the head, sending her aim awry. The tree that the bolt hit nearly hit the truck. She then realigns for another shot, but you grab her head to be sure she couldn't get another shot on you. You struggled to keep her head from blasting you into oblivion.

Just as she was about to get on target, you raised your good leg and shoved her off of you. She regained her footing and charged as you got up. You again dodge her attack just in the nick of time. She turned again and charged but you were ready for her this time.

Side-stepping her attack, you grab her horn at the tip, and giving it a hardy yank, sent her sprawling to the ground. Limping to her dazed form, you grab her horn yet again. Lifting her up, you address the audience to the fight.

"I'll ask you again. Will you leave my daughter and I in peace?"

The purple one stepped up to speak, but the cyan pegasus beat her to the first words,

"You're crazy if you think we'll give in that easily!"

"Wrong answer," you reply grimly.

You slam the pony in your hand into the ground, effectively disorienting her. Raising your plasma cutter, you deliver three swift shots that severed her horn. She began to scream in pain, trying to massage her missing appendage. Taking advantage of her weakness, you take her severed horn and, pining her on her stomach, stab the horn into the base of the pony's skull. She was still squirming after that, so you stomp the horn all the way into her spinal chord. This was the final blow that killed her.

You talk one last look at your work before you turn back to the others. Only to be greeted by a punch to the face by the cyan one. You feel her punching your chest before you slip into unconsciousness.

When you awake, you find yourself in a cage on a carriage with two guards pulling it. You here a soft sniffle next to you. You look down to see Hope next to you; her eyes are blood-shot from crying, but she had a twinkle of joy in her eyes as she looks up at you.

“I thought you were dead,” she says into your shirt.

“Not while I still have someone to care for me,” you say to your child.

“What are they going to do to us?”

“I don’t know baby; I don’t know…”

“Daddy…?”

“Yes Hope?”

“Will you sing me a song? One that you and mommy used to sing together.”

“All right, but don’t expect anything good. Here goes nothing,” you say as you think of a song. Deciding on one you begin to sing.

“A long long time ago

I can still remember how

That music used to make me smile

And I knew if I had my chance

That I could make those people dance

And maybe they'd be happy for a while

But February made me shiver

With every paper I'd deliver

Bad news on the doorstep

I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried

When I read about his widowed bride

But something touched me deep inside

**The day the music died**

So

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

Did you write the book of love

And do you have faith in God above

If the Bible tells you so?

Now do you believe in rock and roll?

Can music save your mortal soul?

And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well, I know that you're in love with him

Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym

You both kicked off your shoes

Man, I dig those rhythm and blues

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck

With a pink carnation and a pickup truck

But I knew I was out of luck

The day the music died

I started singin'

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

Now, for ten years we've been on our own

And moss grows fat on a rolling stone

But, that's not how it used to be

When the jester sang for the king and queen

In a coat he borrowed from James Dean

And a voice that came from you and me

Oh and while the king was looking down

The jester stole his thorny crown

The courtroom was adjourned

No verdict was returned

And while Lenin read a book on Marx

The quartet practiced in the park

And we sang dirges in the dark

The day the music died

We were singin'

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

Helter skelter in a summer swelter

The birds flew off with a fallout shelter

Eight miles high and falling fast

It landed foul on the grass

The players tried for a forward pass

With the jester on the sidelines in a cast

Now the half-time air was sweet perfume

While sergeants played a marching tune

We all got up to dance

Oh, but we never got the chance

Cause the players tried to take the field

The marching band refused to yield

Do you recall what was revealed

The day the music died?

We started singin'

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

Oh, and there we were all in one place

A generation lost in space

With no time left to start again

So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick

Jack Flash sat on a candlestick

Cause fire is the devil's only friend

And as I watched him on the stage

My hands were clenched in fists of rage

No angel born in Hell

Could break that Satan's spell

And as the flames climbed high into the night

To light the sacrificial rite

I saw Satan laughing with delight

The day the music died

He was singin'

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

I met a girl who sang the blues

And I asked her for some happy news

But she just smiled and turned away

I went down to the sacred store

Where I'd heard the music years before

But the man there said the music wouldn't play

And in the streets the children screamed

The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed

But not a word was spoken

The church bells all were broken

And the three men I admire most-

the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost-

They caught the last train for the coast

The day the music died

And they were singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

Bye, bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye

Singin' this'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die”

As you finish the song, you here Hope snoring softly; you take this as a cue to fall asleep yourself as the sun sets over the horizon.
