That One Basic Emotion

(Equestria. Canterlot)

Princess Celestia felt a shiver run down her back as she looked at her sister who was flying into her room with a look of alarm on her face.

"Sister, did you feel that?!?" Luna squeaked as Celestia nodded looking whiter than usual.

"I did sister, something wicked is coming. I fear it will be a bigger threat than even discord was." The sun princess stated looking out to the setting sun as a dark fog started to roll in.

"Celestia? What is this feeling?" Discord asked appearing behind the two shaking alicorns with wide eyes. Discord had never felt such a malicious and hateful feeling in his long life, but with this it felt as if the very air was thick with hate and pain.

"What could be causing this sister?"

"I don't know Luna, but I fear we are all in grave danger." Celestia looked at the other two gods with wide eyes full of worry at what was to come.

"Have the guards on the look out of anything out of the ordinary and report it no matter how small." Celestia stated as Luna nodded and went to relay her sisters orders.

"What is it Tia? Something else is troubling you." Discord stated as the alicorn turned back to him for a second before looking back out to the reddening sky.

"It feels as though the past has once again caught up to me and this time I may not be able to stop it." She sighed before she felt him pat her on the back.

"I know that whatever this is, you will be able to face it Tia. You changed me and I couldn't be happier, besides you have the elements so no matter what it is you and the other elements will be able to take whatever this is down." He offered a reassuring smile but Celestia seemed shaken to the core.

"The elements may not be enough this time Discord, the element of magic was Twilight's and Twilight's alone after I sealed my sister. I'm no longer connected to the element like I used to be." She said casting another worried glance at the red horizon.

"I'm sure whatever it is you will be able to handle it Celestia." Discord tried to comfort her but he could still see the worry on her face.

'Has it really been 3 years since Twilight left?' Discord thought to himself thinking of the little unicorn that defeated him along with Sombra and the changeling queen.

'Where are you my dear?'

'Far closer than you can imagine.' He heard a whisper making him turn his head barely catching a glimpse of a tail going around a corner.

"I'm sure everything will be alright Tia, now I need to go and see my dear friend Fluttershy before the night is over." He stated leaving before she could say anything and disappeared around a corner.

'What in the world?' As Discord rounded the corner he saw a mare sitting down holding something in her arms while sobbing quietly to herself.

"Miss? Are you ok?" He looked closer and could see green spines come from the top of a purple head along with the slow dripping of blood that was gathering into a small puddle.

'They killed him, I will make them pay.' He heard in his head as a white flash went off blinding him for a second.

"Discord." He turned and screamed seeing a mare covered in blood and could see bits of flesh missing, she had a small smile on her face as she walked towards him.

"They are going to to pay for my sons death." She whispered as her body started to turn to ash and disappear right as she reached him.

"Discord!" He turned to see Celestia and a few guards looking at him with worry while he panted looking back where the mare was and could see a trail of bloody hoofprints leading around him and past Celestia.

He started to pant as his heart pounded in his chest seeing the mare behind Celestia with a small smile walking towards her. Her head was down and her bangs covered her face while she reached out to Celestia.

"NO!!" He screamed watching the mare glare at him sending a cold shiver down his back as she once again disappeared into black ash.

"No what? Are you ok Discord?" Celestia asked slowly approaching her friend who was shaking badly.

"Did you see her?" Discord asked pointing behind them making them turn back spotting nothing before looking at him confused.

"What did you see?" Celestia asked just as Luna came running into the hallway.

"I heard a scream is everypony ok?" She asked before spotting the shivering chaos god.

"She was here." He mumbled holding himself staring into the space behind Celestia.

"Discord what did you see?" Luna asked gently pulling him into a hug while he started to relax a little and came back to his senses.

"It was a mare, she was crying and holding a child. I didn't get a good look at them both but I knew that something was wrong, there was blood all over her and the child before a bright flash went off and they were gone." He stated his heart finally going back to normal.

"Are you saying you saw a ghost Discord, this is very strange even for you." Celestia stated sitting down in front of him as he growled at her.

"I know what I saw Celestia."

"Alright, I'm sorry this whole thing has been a bit stressful for us all. Why don't we get some sleep tonight and then we'll look into it more in the morning." Celestia suggested as they nodded.

"I'm coming for them." The voice was the same and sounded right next to his ear making him whip around to see nothing there.

"Discord? What is it?" Luna asked watching her friend as he slowly back out of the room.

"I think I'm going to stay at Fluttershy's house tonight. I'm not such a big fan of large castles anymore as it is anyway. Tata." With a snap of his fingers he was gone while the two sisters blinked and looked at each other in worry.

(Ponyville)

Discord appeared inside the cottage and let out a sigh just when the door opened and in walked his favorite mare.

"Oh hello Discord, did you come to have a sl- are you ok?" She asked walking up her friend who was looking around erratically and had a nervous twitch in his eye.

"Oh I'm fine dear never better I assure you." He stated swallowing the lump in his throat.

"If you say so, but if you want to talk about it I'll be more than happy to listen and help you." She offered making him smile widely at her.

"Thank you Fluttershy, I feel better already just hearing that." He stated as she pulled him into a hug letting out a sigh.

"I'm glad you came over actually, there's a really scary storm begining outside and the weather team are advising ponies to stay indoors until it blows over." She whimpered a little till she felt him pull her closer.

"Don't worry Fluttershy, I'll be more than happy to stay the night. Things have been a little nerve rattling this evening for me and I'm ready for bed." He sighed hearing the thunder roll in.

"Ok well I need to take a shower first and then we'll go to bed after I tuck in Angel bunny." She smiled getting a nod from him while he watched her head upstairs listening to the storm outside.

"You won't be able to save her." Discord whipped around to see a young mare no older than 15 looking at him from the darkness of the kitchen. His heart skipped a beat before he glared at her.

"I won't let you harm my friend." He growled and blinked to find her nose to nose with him making him squeak, he could smell blood and death on her while her red eyes bored into his very soul.

"All will pay for his death." She said before her body turned to ash just as the thunder boomed outside rattling the windows.

Discord sighed and turned watching the storm come in as the door to the bathroom opened and Fluttershy came down.

"Ok, your turn Discord. Once you're done we'll go to bed." She smiled at him while he gave a nod heading up to the shower.

Fluttershy watched her friend with worry as he constantly looked around waiting for something to jump out at him.

'Oh I hope he's ok.' She thought turning to the kitchen to see something flash right at the entrance to it. She raised a eyebrow at it and slowly walked towards it almost as if feeling pulled to it.

She reached out her hoof vaguely feeling Angel pulling on her tail just as her hoof touched it and she was consumed by a white light.

(Unknown place)

Fluttershy blinked covering her eyes as the light died down, she looked around and paled at where she was at when she heard a terrible roar making her look up to see a dragon.

She whimpered quickly retreating back while she heard mumbling behind her, she turned to see black shapes running all around her.

"Hello?" She squeaked as she heard the dragon roar again and turned to see three shapes flying away from it while it toppled over.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

Fluttershy covered her head and ears as a painful scream filled the air while a white light blinded her.

(Cottage)

Fluttershy's eyes popped open and could see Angel jumping on her chest while Discord was rushing down the stairs.

"FLUTTERSHY! Are you ok?" He asked before she latched onto him bursting into tears.

"I saw something! I don't know what but I was so scared and then the screaming! Oh Celestia it was so horrible!!" She wailed gripping him tighter.

"Shhh it's ok Fluttershy, I'm here." He cooed trying to calm the mare down running his claws through her mane as she sobbed and hiccuped holding the chaos god.

"YOU'RE MINE!!!" Discord's eyes widen just in time to watch as what could only be described as a monster burst from the shadows grabbing Fluttershy and disappearing into the darkness before she could even scream.

"Fluttershy!!!" Discord looked around his pupils the size of pinpricks as he looked around for his friend.

"Fluttershy?" He called out just as the lights burst bathing the house in darkness. He could hear many of the animals that were in the house vacate the area all except for the little rabbit Angel who was gripping his leg in terror.

Drip.

The two froze hearing the sound almost like water dripping coming from behind them.

Drip.

Discord turned to see something on the floor that he could barely make out while Angel kept a death grip on his leg

Drip.

He looked up to see nothing falling from the ceiling, he looked to see a puddle on the floor as it rippled.

'What in Equestria?' He thought as the puddle stilled for just a second while Discord leaned closer to it.

'What is this?' Discord reached out and touched the puddle when his arm was suddenly grabbed and pulled in along with half of his upper body. Angel could hear him scream as blood flew all over the room coating the bunny in the crimson matter as he tried to pull the screaming chaos god out of the puddle.

Try as he might Angel lost his grip on the god and watched as his masters friend was pulled into the puddle and all was quiet save for the dripping of blood that coated the entire downstairs.

"Annnnnngel." The little bunnies ears perked up hearing his master call him making him turn to see the mares face in the darkness of where the kitchen was.

The bunny smiled when behind him an explosion of gore and blood erupted making him scream and run to Fluttershy latching on to her face.

"Oh it's ok Angel, momma's going to take good care of you." She giggled while the rabbit froze and slowly turned back to where the door to the outside was only to see the darkness coming around him.

Thinking quickly he used the mares face as a springboard and flew towards freedom, but it was all for not as he felt a crushing grip around his body making him look down and scream.

Holding him was none other than Discord, but he looked long dead and was burned to a crisp. Black pits now occupied where his eyes were as they gazed with hate into Angels soul before pulling him into the puddle screaming and kicking the entire way. He looked back just in time to see the corpse of his former master standing there with a small smile on her face just before darkness took him.

The house fell silent and a small baby dragon walked from the shadows looking around at the blood stained houses. As the dragon looked around a small flicker of green fire sparkled to life and before long it became a raging inferno engulfing the house in a matter of seconds.

Outside stood a mare who watched as the house was swallowed by green flames before she dissipated into black ash in the wind just as Rainbow Dash landed where she was screaming for her lost friend.

(Canterlot)

Celestia bolted up straight with a gasp as she felt a pain through her chest and looked around with tears in her eyes.

"Discord? Fluttershy?" She jumped out of bed and ran to her door throwing it open nearly crushing one of her guards that stood by her door making him yelp in surprise.

She rushed down the hallways, heading for the garden where she could see Ponyville from. As she made it to the gardens she could see a green glow coming the outskirts of the town.

"Sister?! What happened?! I can no longer feel Discord!" Luna flew down to her in a bit of a panic.

"I don't know sister but something is happening in Ponyville." Celestia stated and turned to see a small baby dragon standing in the middle of the garden with his head down and shadows covering his face and most of his body besides the green fins on his head.

"Hello, are you lost child?" Luna asked slowly walking towards him before a bright flash took her.

Luna found herself towering above a city feeling helpless as she felt herself crushing and hurting her friends. She looked up to see three black figures close in, she tried to warn them that she wasn't herself but all that came out was fire and a roar. She watched them dodge as one with a rainbow mane and tail swooped in from the right.

She felt a agonizing pain go through her throat, she choked and sputtered while the other three came in making more pain erupt from her throat and the back of her neck. She then felt herself falling, she looked left and could see her body falling away from her just as the darkness consumed her.

"LUNA!" The mare's eyes snapped open and saw her sisters panicked look on her face. Her hooves shot up to her throat grasping at it and pulling away to check for blood. Her eyes welled up in tears as she saw she was fine before she latched onto her sister.

"I THOUGHT I WAS DEAD!!" She cried while she felt her sisters hooves go around her.

"It's all right." Luna looked up and screamed looking at the face of a mare thought dead smiling at her.

Luna pushed away and looked back to see her sister looking at her shocked and concerned.

"Luna what's the matter?" She asked reaching out for her sister who stared at her wide eyed.

"Where did she go?" Luna stuttered looking around for the mare.

"Where did who go Luna? You're starting to scare me." Celestia stated while her sister continued to look around.

"Something is here and it's angry." Luna whimpered looking back at her sister who was walking up to her. Behind her Luna saw something move.

"SISTER MOVE!" Celestia jumped out of the way as Luna fired a beam into the face of what looked like a burned corpse making it disappear into smoke.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Celestia yelled shaken to the core at seeing the spectre that was coming for her.

"I don't know sister but I think we should leave here, this place is no longer safe." Luna stated as the area seemed to darken more and more.

"Luna?"

"We need to leave." The two sisters hurried back into the castle as darkness fell over the city.
