Now this was a normal morning.I woke up like any other day, got ready for school just like any other and carried on like any other day, but today was not like any other day. I went through the motions. Showering then looking in the mirror, now I wasn't particularly handsome or good looking but I'd like to think I was ok but what I did know is that I have very blue ocean-blue eyes) and saying the chant:" My name is Tobias Krieg, I'm in my last year of school, I'm living and today is the last day." This is the day that changed my life. I was on my way to school admiring the trees while strolling along the sidewalk. It was a typical summer day. Sun was bright and birds happily chirping. Normally I took a shorter root but today was the last day of school for the term so we naturally ended early. So I decided to swing a right instead of a left and to have breakfast at my favorite restaurant. When I sit down a waitress comes and fills my order and leaves with a smile and a hop to her step.I quickly pull out my phone and notice I have a text from my friend. Now Claude was a special person to say the least. He always knew how to lighten the mood with his antics. So unsurprisingly he sent he a message with many anagrams, jumbled words that all formed a riddle that ultimately end up asking me where I am. So I filled him in on the details and sent him his reply. Soon he arrived.
"GOOD MORNING, MEIN MINION!" he shouted out in his French accent. See now he loved this webcomic that started a few months back and loved the main character so he adopted the language and accent.
"Hello Claude. Do you really have to do that in public?"
"OF COURSE!"
"Thought so. So how's the day been treating you?"
"No better than usual." He says without the accent. Thank god.
"So you excited for the holidays.?" I ask
"Hmmm.....I guess so. I am looking forward to the new borderlands reveal at gearbox. And you Haytham, what's your plans?"
"Well I guess just some PC and maybe some tom foolery."
"Aye that seems like a merry holiday. As you know 'a merry life and a short one'."
"You really love that quote don't you mate?" And as if on cue my meal shows up and Claude orders his. We keep up the idle chat until his meal come then we eat in silence for the next few minutes or so. We both finish at relatively the same time and juts sit and talk about random stuff. When out bill comes we pay and make our way to school. As we pass the halfway mark the wind picks up to a massive gust picking up leaves and nearly knocking me over.
"HEY WHAT'S UP WITH THE WIND!" I shout over the rushing gale.
"NO CLUE! I THINK IT MAYBE A TORNADO!"
"WHAT!?!?"
As soon as I blurted that out a blinding light surrounded us and then it all went dark. Void of all sound and any light. Then in a burst of light I'm thrown a few meters threw a window and against a wall. When I land it's not on pavement or grass but in ten softest bed I've ever felt. I decide to lay there for a bit just to let the pain subside. A few minutes go by until I decide to move. I sit up in the bed and take in my surroundings. It looks as if I'm in a small cottage nears some woods." How did I get here I could've sworn I was in the suburbs a few minutes ago." I mutter under my breath. When I stand up I realize my shoes are gone for some reason. I look where I step to mind the shattered glass and wooden splinters that now tatter the floor. Seems I must apologies for the mess to the owner. I walk to the door and head into the corridor. This cottage is small yet home and is littered with animals of all kinds inside and out. When I make it to what looks to be the lounging area I am surprised to see all types of small houses and animals all waiting. As soon as I step foot in the room they all stop and stare at me with huge gleaming eyes and curiosity. It seemed as if they have never seen a human before I think to myself.
I look around the room and locate the front door and slowly make my way to the entrance. I eye the animals closely as I do so. When I get to the door I quickly slip out yo the opening. When I turn around my breath catches. I'm greeted with the most beautiful sight ever. The grass was the greenest I've ever seen and reflected the sunlight slightly to give its a heavenly feel. The trees stood proud baring their leaves to its full potential all creating shade for the inhabitants. Birds and small rodents of all kinds going about their daily lives and scampering around through the rainbow colored meadows. In the distance I can see a much darker looking forest that just seems to emanate pure chaos and evil. I decide to stay clear of that place for as long as possible. Now since I crashed through there window and I need to fin out where the actual hell I am I decided to just go to the back of the house and lay down in the shade until he or she returns. So I found a nice spot and just lay back against the tree. After five minutes I noticed some of the animals' curiosity became too powerful to control and came to come look at me and even some to come nap in the shade with me. I let sleep take me in the cooling summer shade.
I was woken by the sun in my eyes and by the sound of someone approaching. I can hear them approaching the cottage. "...thank you so much for helping me Big Mac it is so kind of you. Are you sure you're ok with carrying all of it?" says a very soft, timid voice from the front.
"Eeyup." Is all that came from the other. He sounds like he has a very deep voice from that. I decide to take it casually and walk calmly around the house to the front. I begin to slowly walk to the front slowing down to a normal person's pace. The sun shines through all the trees into my eyes. When I come around front the sun ceased to blind me and I try to get my first look at the people behin... Wait what?
What I saw caught my breath in pure confusion and fear. Around in front of the house was two pastel colored horses, no ponies talking to each other. I was frozen by the sight. After a few seconds of my mouth being agape they notice me and stare at me with pure curiosity and slight fear. As soon as the smaller yellow one takes a step closer I fucking bolt in the other direction only to get a fucking branch square in my face knocking me out cold.
As I faded into blackness I manage to get out with a single breath, "What the fuck?"
When I came to I woke up in the same bed I made my grand entrance in on. Same soft bed but it felt... different. Oh yeah right I'm tied up. Oh to fucking joy. I think to myself. Each of my appendages are each tied to a post. I can see now I'm alone in this room. So I instinctively start tugging at the ropes like a trapped maniac and screaming my lungs off. "HEEEEEEEELP!" No answer came at all just the scurrying sounds of the animals down stairs. After a few more futile attempts to free myself I was greeted with the door opening and what I assume is my gracious host. He stood much taller than the bed. His coat was a rustic red and a orange mane and green eyes. "Um hi." I say looking at him.
"Ok listen. If you don't go doin' somthin' stupid ah might untie ya and we can talk. I don't have a clue what ya are but I don't want ya hurtin' Fluttershy so if ya try run or hurt anypony I'll have tah tie you up again. Clear?"
Ok now I'm in total shock. Talking ponies that are no taller than my shoulders. One is threatening me if I don't cooperate. The actual fuck did I just get myself into. "Um very much so." I say with a straight face. He nods and moves over to each corner and loosens every know around my wrists and ankles. Great fucking rope marks. "Honestly as shocking as this experience is for me I thought that whenever I'd be untied from a bed it would be a pretty girl I would have had a better time before hand." When I look up from my wrists he was gone. Probably for the best he didn't hear that comment. I think he wanted me to walk to the living area. So when I make it there I see them sitting on the couch staring at me patiently. The other one looked very effeminate. He what looked like to be a small pegasus with a soft, pink mane and cyan eyes that were slightly hidden along with her face behind her mane. She was much smaller than the red stallion beside her. But on both was something I didn't see before they each sported a tattoo like thing on their flanks. The large red stallion had what looked like an apple half and the shy pegasus had three butterflies decorating her flanks. "May I?" I wasted gesturing to a couch nearby and looking in their general direction. The maroon stallion looked to the shy pegasus who just lightly nodded. I nodded my gratitude and sat down.
"So....." I start. "... um I'm sorry for the window. I kinda crashed through it." God this is awkward.
"Ok how about we start with names?" Asks the stallion firmly.
"That sounds nice." Agrees the timid mare it seems. Her voice is very soft and timid yet caring.
"Good. Ok I'm Big Macintosh but most call me Big Mac." He seemed more calm now. "This here is Fluttershy."
The timid mare exposed herself from behind her hair long enough to give her greeting. "Hello..." It was barely a whisper that was released from the shy mare.
Sensing that this place (where ever it is) has some of the same social protocols as home I reluctantly decided to give them a name. "Tobias krieg." I say
"So no that we have exchanged names may I ask you two something?"
Big Mac piped up, "Sure."
"Where the hell am I?"
"How would ya not know where yah are?"
"Well first I guess where I'm from there aren't really any other talking species all over the planet besides us humans, second I think I was fucking dragged and put here by a tornado and a flash of light and third I'm pretty sure that the majority of the population ARE PASTEL COLORED PONIES."
"Well I see your logic is real enough" Big Mac says in the most sarcastic manner possible. "Well you are in Equestria and are in our little town of Ponyville."
"Oh god." I say putting my head in my hands. "Well at least I get away from all the corrupt politicians, presidents and governments and all the threats of war." I say trying to put some humor into it.
"Presidents?"
"The person who rules over the country. Don't you all have one?"
"Is that like a princess?" he asks.
"Kinda but we elect them but it usually ends badly. Power corrupts after all. Wait why did you ask...no. Do you guys have a king or queen?"
" We have two princesses. Celestia has been here for a very long time and luna got back a year ago. Mah sister and her friends were roped into that ."
"Great I've been thrown into a fucking monarchy. Now I'm hoping these princesses aren't as obtuse as I imagine them to be."
"They have been ruling for a few thousand years. And the only threats are huge ones. But the princess has been asking my sister and her friends a lot recently." Hmmm. Odd for a princess to ask a lot of common folk.
"Well then ah don't see ya as a threat to none so ah'm comfortable. Shy you ok?"
The poor mare has been cowering the whole time while we were talking. Just the sight was enough to tear my heart. "Please don't be scared of me Fluttershy I promise i won't hurt you." She still hid behind her hair. Just then an otter walked into the corridor. "Hey that looks like my pet Sarah. We'll it did." At that comment she perked up.
"You like animals?" She beamed. The sight made my heart melt.
"Oh I live them to be honest. I had a whole array at my home."
"SQUEEEEEEEE! Oh we can talk about so much. And maybe we can find you a pet and...."
"Ok hold on there deary..." I interrupt,"...I just arrived here and don't even have a home to stay in since I think I might like it here. So how about this. I go out and maybe deal with everyone seeing me as soon as possible and then maybe getting a house or finding a hotel and a job? And we get to know each other and maybe become friends. Deal?"
"Um ok but maybe you can stay here. I have a spare room and since you love animals I'm sure you will fit in."
"Oh no I wouldn't want to be a burden on you or Big Mac." I say before he offers
"Trust meh yah wouldn't be a burden. We always are lookin' the help friends and those in need."
"Wait 'we'? Are you two?"
It took a second but they caught on. Upon realization Big Mac spoke up,"No we aren't tahgether. I'm with Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy does not have a special somepony yet."
"Ok then now that that awkward moment has been avoided back to the matter at hand."
"You could stay here. P-please I want to help." she says with puppy dog eyes. Fuck my only weakness.
"Ok then. Your argument I see is very strong so I'd love to stay here. Thank you Fluttershy."
"Oh it's no problem. Oh I'm Big Mac I think it's getting late so you can go if you want to."
"Ah think yer right on that part. Bye Fluttershy and good bye Tobias. And remember our talk." That last part was very serious. Considering his size I made a mental note to listen.
"Sure thing."
When he left Fluttershy turned to me, "Um would you like something to eat?"
"No it's if..." Then my stomach started shouting at me, "umm I guess so."
She ushered me into the kitchen and fixed me up a simple garden salad. After I finished we went back to the living room and just sat there and relaxed. While I was there I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness grip at my heart.i think Fluttershy sensed it since she got up from the opposite couch and sat next to me. "Um...Tobias?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you alright? You look kinda sad and you just lost your home in a way."
I just sighed, " I guess I'm not really but I think I'll learn to live with it." At that note she wrapped herring around me. Not like a girlfriend or lover. No it was like a calming motherly feeling. Her soft embrace out me at ease. We stayed like that until sleep took me to the land of nightmares. Of a burning home.
At the end of the dream there was a single man standing there. No clothes, no skin. Then he turned around and stared at me but he had no eyes but I could feel him staring at me. "The speaker shall turn to the heavens and embrace death"
"I'm am your future speaker. I am your death!"
