Luna always kept the kingdom safe at night. With everyone asleep, she was the only one who could keep watch through the night. But this night was unlike any other.
Some people connect her with controlling the night sky. Those people are correct. But not even Celestia can control every form of her sun. There are still Solar eclipses, which neither of the two sisters have any control over. and then there are nights like tonight. The moon shone bright tonight, and the stars still shone brilliantly over the night sky. But the moon was a deep red, the color of blood.
She had experienced nights like this before, One warning her of a great chaos that would spread over the land, and how a lone tree stood against the forces of Chaos. And another of a great darkness that would engulf the land, leaving everyone of eternal darkness. This was the moon of prophecies and omens, and noone but her could decipher what the prophecy would entail. Luna just stares at the night sky, knowing all too well how these visions can affect her, as one caused her to lose all but a few stands of her sanity.
She lowered her gaze, and viewed her kingdom, bathed in the light of the blood moon. She noticed that every door and window were closed, all ignoring her beautiful night sky. She felt the same jealousy that landed her a millennium on the moon. She fought the all too familiar feeling, knowing what would happen if she let those feeling chip away at her.
She herself reflected the night sky, as her hair and fur turned a shade of red only seen on nights like this. She closed her eyes and focused, feeling her power surge within herself. She cast the spell and blinked into her chambers. She knew what had to be done, and it wasn't going to be easy. she mentally prepared herself for the coming vision, walked over to her bookshelf.
She stood there, looking over her books, searching for the book she had wrote herself before she had been banished. The book contained certain powerful spells that could only be cast during what she had come to calling 'Blood Moons'. She had constructed the spells and rituals while studying the anomaly, and one in particular held the most reverence. It was a power amplifying spell, which not only amplifies the power withing, but under the effect of the spell, your inner self was expanded. If you were kind and chivalrous, you would become a figure of great kindness and harmony. If you held even the smallest amount of contempt and jealousy in your heart, those feeling would be amplified, leaving you a great power of hatred and rage.
She had cast the spell, hoping to use the power to make her night greater than her sisters day so people would observe her hard work. Under the effect, she had went from being jealous of her sister to wanting to end all forms of her and her day, leaving only her night to be praised.
She closed her eyes, and silently wept. She hadn't thought that the spell would force her to act so viciously. She could barely remember anything from when she became such a Nightmare. She couldn't bare the thought of having to send her sister to the moon, so it must have been horrible for her sister to banish her.
She found the book, and held it in her hands. She had noticed the bookmarks she had lain in the books to differentiate one spell from another. The book itself was covered in a layer of dust. She stared at the book, and couldn't remember which bookmark was the correct spell. She quickly checked all the bookmarks, leaving not a single one unchecked. When she had finally found the correct ritual, she sat the open book on the table next to her, and read through the instruction on what exactly had to be done.
She went over to her apothecary supplies, and began rummaging through them. She had to find the correct vial, or the ritual would never work. She began reading the labels one by one. Pulverized Teeth No, that wasn't it. Crushed Stallion Testes That wasn't it either. She began to panic, as she couldn't find the correct vial. She almost gave up, then she remembered. She looked over her bookshelf that held her apothecary supplies, and then slid it over about a foot with her magic. Behind the bookshelf, was a secret cabinet that she kept all her secret supplies. She opened it up, and searched for the vial. Sap from the Tree of Harmony. "Aha!" Luna exclaimed as she found the vial. Se picked the vial up, and carried it over to the table with the book on, sitting it down.
When she had made the correct preparations, She began with the ritual. She began with a lock of her hair, as it holds the power of the moon within it. She definitely had other options than to use her hair, but nothing else causes no discomfort and grows back as easily as her hair.
Before she began the Ritual, she put up a force field in her room. This ritual wasn't anything normal. It wasn't some potion that she had to drink, like what Twilight had to. This magic was raw and powerful, and to gaze into the future, she couldn't just simply drink a potion or cast it into a mirror and observe.
She picked up the scissors with one hand, and separated a lock of her hair from the rest with the other. She had to act fast, because the hair loses power over time, and she needs the power within her hair as a reagent for the spell. As she cut the lock from her head, she dropped her hair onto the floor and began to channel her magic into it at a terrifying rate. So much power was going through her horn that it started to burn, sparks flying out of it. Her hair on the floor was starting to glow a terrifying shade of red, and it only got brighter and brighter. Soon, the glow was so bright that she couldn't even look at it without shielding her eyes. She had to time this correctly, otherwise the magic might yet fail. When she felt she had invested enough magic into the glowing lock of hair, she reached back and grabbed the vial she had set behind her, and popped the top of it. She poured the Sap from within the bottle onto the glowing hair on the floor, and the glow turned from a blood red to a deep purple.
Luna steeled herself, and closed her eyes as the power emanating from her hair was steadily increasing, and the glow was responding accordingly. Suddenly, the glow all returned to her hair, leaving only the strands glowing pure white. Then, suddenly, All the magic was expelled from the hair in an explosion that would have destroyed her room, if she hadn't made the force field. But she was inside the force field. She closed her eyes and she felt the magic from the explosion enter her body. Once the magic had entered her body, she began to fade... fast. She struggled to reach her bed, fighting to keep her eyes open. She took a few strained steps before she collapsed, Fading to black.

Luna groaned, aching from the excess amount of magic that occupied her body only a few hours before. She leaned up, and put a hand to her head. She had a splitting headache, and any use of her magic only made it worse. She looked up, and quickly realized where she was. Or wasn't, for that matter. She was dreaming, that much was certain. She was in an empty, pitch black room. The only light was from her moon, right above her, that only illuminated a small circle around her.
Not shortly after she woke up, did her surroundings start to change. It began to construct six distinct shapes in front of her, Five in the shape of a pentagon, and one in the middle. It resembled the Elements of Harmony, with the Elements taking the color and shape of their respective owners' Cutie Marks. She stood there; Observing, waiting, preparing herself for the worst. She would not be disappointed.
Soon after the Elements were created, they shifted to the floor underneath her, and then, the moonlight turned red. The entire room was illuminated red, with the mixed screams of all six of the elements ringing out through the room. Horrible Images flickering on all four walls, and all Luna could do was wait until this Hell was over. She fell to her knees, covering her ears. The roof began to drip blood, covering the Elements one by one.
First, the trio of butterflies began to be covered, and Fluttershy's screams began to die away from the chorus. Then the balloons, wherein Pinkie's voice died away from the Chorus. This continued in order, from Applejack to Rarity, then to Rainbow Dash. Finally, Twilight's scream was the only scream echoing through the room, before it ended rather suddenly and violently. Luna couldn't block out the sounds of Twilight choking and spluttering, as if she were drowning in her own blood. Then, the entire room shattered, into a million shards. Luna was crying, tears streaming down her face.
In front of her, a new pentagon was forming, completely different Cutie Marks taking shape. Luna watched, tears still flowing. As six shapes were formed in front of her. All of them blurred out, as if they were just out of sight. As this new pentagon formed, the walls formed a scene of pure harmony. Singing birds, Rosebushes, and the sound of a guitar playing in the background. She fell forward, and the last thing she heard, before she passed out, was the sound of someone calling her name.
