Bad Preperations

Previous Chapter

Twilight and Spike got of the carriage, and thanked the pegasai guards whom pulled it. The carriage took off. They could see a pink earth pony in the distance, approaching their direction.

"C'mon, Twilight! The princess did told you to get a life." Spike chuckled. Twilight responded by rolling her eyes.

Twilight gave a nervous look, and stared at the pink mare. She wasn't used to randomly talk to strangers that did nothing to her and vice versa. "Uh... hello?" However, the pink mares's response was just a long gasp and running away in the distance.

"Well, that was... interesting."

"Number one, banquet preparations: Sweet Apple Acres." Spike mentioned as both ponies stopped at the entrance as they heard a cheer somewhere. They saw a speeding orange blonde earth pony stopping near a tree and gave it a strong buck. She was wearing a cowboy hat. She crossed her legs and looked quite proud. The orange mare could see two ponies aproaching her.

"Good afternoon, my name is Twilight Sparkle, I'm here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration. And you must be in charge of the food?" Twilight almost waited five seconds for a response. Was she deaf? She regrets how she wasn't interested in that 'sign language' book and simply passed it.

Until that she realized that the orange mare was staring seductively at somepony beside her. Twilight isn't dumb, it was Spike, obviously. Twilight is so smart, she didn't even look!

Spike noticed and blushed, trying to look in any other direction but the orange mare's without being rude.

"If you're done intimidating my assistant, you can greet me back now."

The orange mare blinked and shook her head, regaining consciousness.

"Oh, aha, Miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance. I'm Applejack." Apple jack offered her hoof, Twilight shook it with caution with her right eye narrowed. "We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like making new friends! Would you like to sample some of our dishes?"

Twilight let go of her hoof, and decided to take a moment to think. "Well, as long as it doesn't take too long and you don't do anything stupid..."

The host grinned and ran off in the other direction. "Soup's on! Everypony!" She rang a rusty triangle.

Applejack alerted the horde. Dozens of earth ponies appeared, carrying them to the dining table.

"This here's Apple Fritter. Apple Bumpkin. Red Gala. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apples, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp." It almost felt like every time Applejack says a name, food spawns on the table. Applejack deeply inhaled.

"Big McIntosh," She pointed her hoof towards a muscular red stallion. "Apple Bloom," She pointed towards a lime filly "And last but definitely not least, Granny Smith!" She pointed at an elderly. "Wake up! Granny Smith, we got guests."

"Are we really gonna eat all this?" Twilight stared at Spike, who also appears to be rejecting the food. "Well, unless both of us are dragons or something, I don't think I can take this," remarked Spike.

As Twilight was about to respond, their conversation was quickly interrupted by a few mares flattering Spike in a way that annoys and angers her. Spike remained indifferent and simply thanked them.

She quickly grabbed one of Spike's forelegs and glared at the mares. "Okay, I think we will be on our way now."

"Aren't you gonna stay for brunch?" Twilight looked down to see an adorable-faced Apple Bloom.

"Sorry, but we have an awful lot to do..."

Everypony rumbled, fading in.

"C'mon, Twilight, I'm pretty sure your assistant wants to get to know me anyway." She glanced at Spike and winked at him.

"His name is Spike and we are going to get out of here, you freaks."

"What'cha just call us?" Fortunately, it appears only Applejack heard them as she was the closest.

"Nothing." Twilight gestured Spike to run away from the farm. Applejack decided to chase them down, but was halted by his big brother, Big McIntosh.

"That wasn't very nice of you." Spike lectured Twilight.

"Yeah, not sure what got in to me..."

She literally had no control of her actions, she just felt so impatient at that time. Twilight had many frustrating moments in her life,  but that was different, it was a situation that she could taken care of. But then again, she had blown off so easily, and by 'blown off', she meant insulting somepony she just met.

"Alright, number two: weather. It says that there's supposed to be a pegasai pony named Rainbow Dash clearing the clouds." Spike continued reading.

Twilight lifted her head and observed the clouds above her.

"Well, it she's not doing a very good job is she?"

Unexpectedly, a light of rainbow crashed into Twilight. It revealed to be a light-blue pegasai with a rainbow-colored mane. Both mares are in the mud, slightly unconscious. The blue mare giggled at Twilight, despite the fact she is covered in mud as well.

"Uh, excuse me? Here, Lemme help you." Before Twilight could respond, the pegasai got off the mud. She flew across the other direction and grabbed a cloud, literally. She headed back to the puddle. The cloud was place on top of Twilight, and the blue mare jumped up and down on the cloud, causing it to rain on Twilight.

Twilight's mane is now soaking wet, the blue mare laughed sheepishly. Twilight can't help but to feel incredibly annoyed. The blue mare lost her smile.

"Oops, I guess I kinda overdid it. Um, how about this? My very own Rainbrow... um, Rainbru... Rainblrow...  Rainblow... Dry!" Her eyes widened, smiling again. She flew around the wet unicorn in high speed, creating a small tornado.

Just as met her expectations, she burst laughing out loud at afro-girl. Spike joined in the laughter.

I can't believe that my own assistant, betrayed me, just to join sides with a stupid mare!

She was doing it again! Well, this could be reasonable, he was laughing at her with her, it's totally acceptable. "So, Rainbow Dash." Twilight tested to see if she got the blue mare's name right.

The pegasai, who was feeling successful at embarrassing the unicorn, replied."The one and only! How did you know my name? Are you one of my fans? Do you want an autogra-"

"You're supposed to be clearing the clouds for the Summer Sun Celebration!" Twilight interupted, not wanting to hear any more of Rainbow Dash's words and hoping she will just start doing her job.

"Psh, no need to be so angry, pal!" Even though Rainbow was a brave pony, she doesn't want to get in anymore trouble. "Here, I'll clear the clouds, mom."

She took off, clearing and kicking every single cloud like no ordinary pegasai. She was good indeed, perhaps the best, and this thought was processed by all three ponies. And to Rainbow Dash's surprise, she actually did it in 6 seconds.

"Ha! Didn't even take 5 seconds!"

Twilight facehoofed, while grinding her teeth, and her ears flat. She tried processing all the flaws this pegasai had: first, she embarrassed her in front of Spike, then, she called her 'mom', despite Twilight was only making a request, last, she couldn't even keep track of her time, or maybe she did, but lied, which is worse.

Twilight felt heavily insulted, but tried to calm down, because her teacher would be disappointed.

Rainbow landed on the ground, and trotted towards Spike. "Hey, how are you in a relationship with this loser?"

"Wha, what? Oh, I, I'm just her assistant." Spike remarked. "Her name is Twilight Sparkle."

"And I thought you were dumb too!" Rainbow Dash felt light and excitement filling her heart as well as trying to make herself look cooler around Spike, so she took the logical action. Rainbow winked at Spike, making him smile nervously.

Yup, that's it.

A thick, loud, quite devastating, purple beam was heading towards Rainbow, who was very, very, very lucky to dodge it by flying upwards.

"Woah! What's your problem, Sparkle?" She glared at Twilight and preparing for another one. Spike could only gasp in shock and back off the crazy mares.

"The problem? The problem? You... Just. Get out of here!".

"Alright, alright, sheesh." Rainbow rolled her eyes and flew away.

It got to the point where the purple mare realized that Spike was causing all this, and that, if he didn't came with her, none of this would happen. Sure, Spike may be her number one assistant, but seeing how the mares were swooning him, it's the right thing to do.

"Spike, do mind if you just stay here?" asked Twilight, briefly smiling at his companion with her mane still messed up.

"Um, lemme think." He put a hoof to his chin a started tapping, his eyes in another direction. "Yes." He expected a response, telling him why in Equestria did she asked that.

"So that, we, um," Twilight just challenged herself to explain it without making it awkward. "Won't get in to, uh, you know, more trouble."

"Like what?" Spike isn't definitely helping.

"Just now."

So... like the part where Twilight fights Rainbow? What would that have to do anything with me? He thought to himself. Twilight is a smart mare, maybe I should listen.

"Oh, okay, I see." Spike sat on a nearby bench.

"Good." Twilight smiled and nodded, and entered the Town Hall.

What is taking her so long?

It's been hours since Twilight entered the building. Spike was getting worried, he was pacing back and forth near the bench. What if something bad happened to her? No, I must obey whatever Twilight says! I am a stallion of my words! But... what if she was taken hostage? What if she fillynapped?

"Spike! Didn't you notice that I was fillynapped?" Heard a familiar voice. Spike turned around to see the unicorn he was looking for.

"Twilight!"

He ran towards her, and gave her a hug, in public, where everypony could see them. Twilight blushed, but hugged him back and smiled. It gave a her a warm feeling both inside and out. He must have been really worried about her. "You haven't answered my question."

They both released the hug. Spike tilted his head, confused. "Huh? What are you talking about?" He also noticed that her mane is fixed.

Well, I guess I didn't saw him either, we must have gone through the backdoor.

"Nevermind. And um, just to assure you, I met a pony named Rarity, she took me to her shop and fixed my mane, that's all." Twilight assured Spike.

Spike, who was assured, gave a smile of relief. "And how about those decors?"

"Oh, they were fine."
