The CMC was sitting in their club treehouse. "We've tried everything, girls. We're never getting our cutie marks. Let's face it, we'll be blank-flanks forever!" Applebloom cried. Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle sighed and nodded in agreement. "Unless... we come up with the best idea ever!" Scootaloo exclaimed. They all nodded excitedly in unison, scrummaging for a pencil and paper. As soon as they found the items, Sweetie Belle held them in the air with her magic, as the ponies expressed their ideas. "Cooking?" Applebloom questioned, remembering baking cupcakes with Pinkie Pie, then doubting her idea. "Eating chicken?" Scootaloo suggested. Everypony glared at Scootaloo as she hid her face in embarrassment. "Well sorry for expressing my idea!" She said sarcastically, as they all laughed. "What about... something involving the elements?" Sweetie Belle suggested shyly. The mares gasped surprisingly at Sweetie's idea, but were intrigued. "Can you explain what we'd do?" Applebloom asked. Scootaloo nodded relevantly. "Well... maybe the elements have something to do with our cutiemark! We can ask to borrow them from Twilight, I'm sure she'll let us!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed proudly.
"WHAT?!" Twilight shouted to Sweetie Belle asking such a question. "Pretty please, twilight?" The girls begged while pouting. "What would you even need them for, girls? You're just little fillies!" Twilight said concernedly. "To find our cutiemarks!" They all announced. "Girls, why would you need the elements to find your cutiemarks? It's supposed to come naturally when you discover your hidden talent. I'm sorry but I cannot let three young fillies borrow a power such as these, just be patient, the time will come!" Twilight smiled as she went back to her studying. "But the time WON'T come! We've been waiting for our whole lives and it still hasn't come yet, while everypony else already has their cutiemark! We can't take it anymore, Twi'! Please, we need your elements of harmony, we'll only be borrowing them for a short while until we find our cutiemarks! I'm sure it'll be quick, anyways!
"What are we gonna' do now?" Scootaloo cried. "Maybe... we'll have to borrow them without permission?" Sweetie Belle said nervously. "Sweetie, that's called stealing; we can't do that!" Applebloom shouted. "What? We'll be returning them, so technically it's not considered stealing if you bring it back!" Sweetie explained. Applebloom and Scootaloo looked at each other for some time, then finally decided to agree with Sweetie's plan; they were going to borrow the elements of harmony.
