Power Pony Up!
Everyday Nonsense
Previous Chapter“Looks like Maretropolis is going to have clear skies for the next five hours, and then we’re going to have a shower or two.” Rainbow Dash said. “But, then that shower will go away because The Great Power Pony Zapp, will clear it away with her awesome super powers and then she’s probably going to save the day against some evil menace and…”
“COMMERCIAL BREAK!” A pony shouted.
“What?!” Rainbow asked. “But, I was in mid sentence!”
“Ms. Dash, come over here this instant!” Ms. Harshwinny, the chief of the weather station shouted.
Rainbow Dash quickly flew over to her. “Yes Ms. Harshfilly?” She asked.
“It’s Harshwinny!” Ms. Harshwinny said irritated. “How many times must I tell you to do the weather report, and then pass it off to Lyra?”
“Sorry Ms. Harshwinny, I just can’t help idolizing my idols.” Dashie replied.
“I don’t mind you idolizing some pony, but if you keep this up, then you might lose your job, and that wouldn’t be good now would it? So for the last time, KEEP IT PROFESSINAL!!!”
Ms. Harshwinny stomped off leaving Rainbow by herself.”Gees, what a buzz kill.” Rainbow Dash said under her breath.
“Sorry I’m late, Cadance.” Twilight said, upon entering the Maretropolis Public Library. “I was just having a chat with my roommate.”
“No need to apologize, Twilight.” Cadance said. “I know how you and Rainbow Dash get along. Still, a group of students are going to be arriving, so I was hoping you could tidy up a bit?”
“I’ll get right on it.” Twilight said confidently. But, organizing the Maretropolis Library isn’t easy. Especially when a group of fillies are going to come mess it up anyway.
When Twilight placed the last book into its proper place she was exhausted. Unfortunately for her, a break wasn’t going to happen as the students had arrived. They began to pull out books and toss then around, instead of reading them.
The only ones that were reading were, Scootoloo, Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom. The reason they were reading was because they had yet to get their Cutie Marks.
When the fillies left the library was even more a mess then before. “Twilight could you clean this up? I need to help some ponies in the nonfiction section.” Cadance asked.
So, for the second time today, Twilight Sparkle organized the Maretropolis Library. When no pony was around Twilight said to herself, “I think defeating the Mane-iac was easier.”
“Come here Angel,” Fluttershy called to Angel the bunny. “Where are you?” Fluttershy didn’t want Dr. Whooves to know that she had lost another pet. Dr. Whooves was pretty easy-going, so if Fluttershy lost ponies pets, he just wanted her to find them. Strange thing about him was he preferred just to be called ‘The Doctor.’
“Fluttershy?” Dr. Whooves said upon entering Fluttershy’s office. “Why is the entire building a mess?” Fluttershy had searched every nook and cranny looking for Angel so she made a great big mess in the process.
“I’m looking for Angel.” Fluttershy said.
“The bunny?” Dr. Whooves asked.
“Yes Doctor.” Fluttershy replied.
“How did he get away this time?” The Doctor asked.
“He wanted some food, but I wouldn’t give it to him since he supposed to be on a diet.” Fluttershy confessed. “But, he was so stubborn he went looking for it himself.”
“That bunny is always causing trouble.” Dr. Whooves said to himself. “Maybe because his name is Angel.” The Doctor looked at Fluttershy. “Have you tried the kitchen?”
“Yes Doctor.” Fluttershy said.
“The medicine cabinets?”
“Yes.”
“The Blue Box?”
“Yes.”
“The Tack and Rudimentary Dessert Insert Softener?”
“Double checked.”
“The ventilation shaft?”
“Uh…no.”
“That’s where he is then!” The Doctor shouted with glee. “Angel must have known that you wouldn’t think of searching the ventilation shaft and hid there. Brilliant!” Fluttershy just stood there. “Well what are you waiting for? Go get him!”
Fluttershy trotted to the vent in the room and climbed in. While inside it she said, “I always do the hard work.”
“Pinkie Pie what are you doing?” Mrs. Cake asked her apprentice baker. Mrs. Cake had been working with Pinkie Pie for several months. So far the only thing Pinkie Pie had perfected was rock candy.
“Making cupcakes!” Pinkie shouted.
“Oh, well in that case, how do you make them” Mrs. Cake wondered.
“Why are you asking me? Don’t you already know?” Pinkie Pie asked.
“I want to know of you remember.” Mrs. Cake said.
“OH! Well do you mind if I sing while telling you?” Pinkie asked.
“If it helps you remember, I’m all ears!” Mrs. Cake exclaimed.
“Okay here goes!” Thus Pinkie Pie began to sing
:All you have to do is take a cup of flour
Add it to the mix
Now just take a little something sweet not sour
A bit of salt, just a pinch
Baking these sweets is just a cinch
Add a teaspoon of vanilla
Add some more and you count to four
And you never get your filla
CUPCAKES! So sweet and tasty!
CUPCAKES! Don’t be too hasty!
CUPCAKES! CUPCAKES!! CUPCAKES!!!
CUPCAKES!!!!
“Well Pinkie, I think you know how to make cupcakes.” Mrs. Cake said. “So, do you know how to make muffins?”
Pinkie’s eyes shrunk. She got down on her knees, looked at the ceiling, waved her hooves in the air, and shouted, “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!”
I f there was one thing Applejack hated, it was fruit cocktail. She believed that fruits should stay separate, not mixed with other fruits. When fruits were put in contact with other fruits they mixed juices and flavors. So an apple might taste like cherry pear apple gum, or peach strawberry juice. And, when juices were mixed Applejack called it ‘Cider Surprise.’
So when Maretropolis Fruits and Vegetables announced that they were beginning to make fruit cocktail, and fruit punch, Applejack was furious.
“Ms. Peachbottom, how can we, in good conscious, make fruit cocktail and fruit punch?” Applejack asked furiously.
Ms. Peachbottom was the overseer of the company, checking how the ponies were working. Applejack worked in the factory, creating apple cider and labeling it.
“Applejack,” Ms. Peachbottom began, “Some ponies like having their fruits mixed. They think it adds more flavor to the fruits.”
“Then why don’t they like having their vegetables mix too?” Applejack asked.
“Because, when vegetables are mixed it creates things like salad, and casserole. And, those things are made at home, not in a factory.” Ms. Peachbottom explained.
“Oh.” Applejack said. “Well ponies have their differences. But, don’t expect me to make any fruit cocktail, or punch. If y’all want to, go right ahead. But, I’m staying in the cider department.”
“That’s fine with me Applejack.” Ms. Peachbottom said and walked away.
Applejack sighed and grabbed a barrel of apples. “I hate fruit cocktail.”
“One last stitch, and…”
“RARITY!!!!” Prim Hemlot shouted. “Are you done with those dresses and suits yet?”
Rarity quickly stitched the last stitch and then shouted, “Yes!”
“Well, bring them here!” Prim ordered.
“Okay.” Rarity gathered up the dresses and suits and gave them to Prim. “I still don’t understand why Shining Armor wants all his suits, even his everyday suits, to all have bow ties.”
“He says bow ties are cool.” Prim replied. Prim was the supervisor for the Maretropolis Boutique. She was very stern, and didn’t like to be kept waiting.
“So, is there anything I can help with?” Rarity asked.
“No, Sirrie has it under control.” Prim replied.
Sirrie Polomare was a pony who swindled other ponies to get what she wanted. Rarity hated her because she swindled Rarity into giving her some custom fabric, and then claimed she made it herself. So Prim then believed that Sirrie was the next big thing in fashion. But in reality, all of Sirrie’s dresses and suits were made by her ‘partner’ Coco Pommel.
Rarity and Coco were pretty good friends, and had a weekly chat every Thursday. Coco was actually planning on quitting becoming a sewer herself. But, whenever Prim talked about Sirrie like she was the best thing in Maretropolis, Rarity tried everything she could to not yell at Prim.
When Prim left and got a cab, Rarity said to herself, “Sirrie has it under control. Well, if Prim opened her eyes every once in a blue moon, she might realize that maybe some pony else is doing all the work.”
Hum Drum was always getting forgotten. No matter how hard he tried, the only one who really noticed him was Twilight. But at least he had a good nickname. The Power Ponies had always called him Spike do to his spiky tail.
And so he even called himself Spike. He hated the name Hum Drum. So in the end Spike would stay in the apartment always being forgotten.
So while he sat in his chair watching Daring Do and the Raiders of the Lost Stork, he was surprised to get a phone call.
Spike dashed to the phone and picked it up. “Hello, Spike speaking.”
“Spike? It’s Twilight. We’re all meeting up at Hay Burger Queen. Can you meet us there?” Twilight asked.
“Sure Twilight, I’ll be right there.” Spike replied.
Spike jumped in glee and began to dash to the fast food joint. On the way there he said to himself, “Finally! It looks like they want to do something with me!”
