The New York City Police Department was in pursuit of a stolen SUV on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. An APB was put out for said vehicle after crashing through the Trout River Border Crossing three days earlier, successfully evading the US Border Patrol and a couple of local police departments on their way south towards the New York Metro Area. Three NYPD police cruisers and an NYPD helicopter had been following the vehicle for roughly six minutes through Bronx and Brooklyn with several failed attempts to stop the suspects. The chase had shut down every major bridge and tunnel leading into and out of the city which left most of the highways clear of traffic.

"Suspect is taking the exit towards the Long Island Expressway." One of the officers stated as he followed the vehicle off the BQE.

The SUV made left at the next fork to head west on the Long Island Expressway, initiating a quick call from the helicopter pilot.

"Suspect is heading west on the Long Island Expressway; he's heading for the Midtown Tunnel."

"Do not let that vehicle cross into Manhattan, I repeat, stop that vehicle using any force necessary!" A police officer yelled over the radio.

The SUV sped towards the toll booths leading into the tunnel heavily guarded by NYPD ESU teams who immediately opened fire on the vehicle the second they had a clear shot. Assault rifles and pistol fire rained upon the vehicle which had appeared to be doing no damage with the exception of a blown front tire.

"Be advised the suspect has entered the tunnel, I repeat, the suspect has entered the tunnel."

"ESU teams are in position on the west exit," An officer announced "Reduce your speed."

"All units be advised the vehicle is armored, say again, the vehicle is armored." Another officer said.

The ESU team on the other end of the tunnel had fortified a road block just outside of the tunnel's exit. Three NYPD patrol cars parked perpendicular to the traffic flow along with two ESU Peacekeeper armored vehicles parked at a forty five degree angle behind them ensured that the vehicle approaching them would not be able to force it's way through in the event the gunfire failed to stop it. As the SUV neared the exit of the tunnel the driver increased his speed and charged into the barrage of bullets being fired in his direction. The SUV crashed into the front fender of one of the police cars, vaulted it, and rolled to the right crashing into the grille of one of the armored vehicles bringing the vehicle to a stop. More than twenty police officers surrounded the wreckage and waited for any signs of movement from the suspects inside, which after roughly thirty seconds of waiting did not seem likely.

"Dispatch be advised the suspect vehicle has hit the road block at the Midtown Tunnel, no movement from the suspects as of yet." One of the ESU officers said over his radio.

"Show me your hands! Put them up now!" An officer yelled.

The suspect collapsed on the trunk floor of the SUV and put his hands in front of him. Three ESU officers surrounded him and radioed for an ambulance.

"You can't stop her." The suspect said faintly.

"What?" One of the officers asked.

The suspect closed his eyes and smiled, letting out a slight laugh.

"What the fuck did you just say to me?" The officer asked again.

The suspect lay limp in the trunk of the SUV, his smile faded. One of the officers shook his head at his fellow officers behind him confirming the death of their suspect.

"Dispatch the suspect is down, say again, the suspect is down. Roll a rig for a possible second suspect trapped inside the vehicle." One of the ESU officers said.

Two NYPD officers climbed up onto the side of the vehicle to look inside where they saw two more lifeless bodies along with the driver who appeared to be breathing. The ground began to tremble as the officers attempted to make contact with the driver. The tremor stopped after a few seconds which began to spook them.

"What was that?" One of the officers asked.

The tremor started again and became increasingly worse with each passing second. The road began to crack and the lights in the tunnel blew, prompting an immediate evacuation of the area under the assumption the tunnel had collapsed. The officers sprinted towards East 37th Street where a large sink hole opened up' swallowing cars, people. and buildings. One of the fleeing ESU officers leaned up against a bus and turned around to find out what was happening. Off to the east was a large wall of fire heading straight towards him with heat so intense is began burning the hairs off his body well before it crossed the East River. The ESU officer continued to watch the fire approach him until it finally caught up.
