Do rainbows and cotton candy mix?
It was a perfectly normal day in Ponyville. Ponies selling their usual wares as the day dragged on. The aromas from Sugar Cube Corner spilling out into the streets and attracting any stray bystanders inside for a delicious treat. One such pony would be the towns rainbow maned mare on one of her many scheduled breaks. Almost immediately she was greeted by a pink blur that was all too familiar as her friend Pinkie Pie.
"Hey Dashie!" Pinkie greeted to one of her closest friends.
"Hey Pinkie, can I get a cupcake? I kinda slept through lunch earlier," Rainbow Dash said rubbing the back of her mane with a sheepish smile.
"Oh, of course Dashie! Anything for you!" As Pinkie Pie bounced away, Rainbow Dash couldn't help but feel... different at Pinkie Pie's choice of words but decided to just wave it off as her sleeping a bit longer than her usual naps. Pinkie then hopped back to her rainbow friends table shortly after with a singular cupcake that sported white and red frosting on top of it. "Here ya go Dashie!" Pinkie said as she hoofed the small confectionery over to her rainbow maned friend.
"Thanks Pinkie I-" Rainbow cut off as she was taken aback by the red icing atop the cupcake that formed a heart.
"Whats wrong Dashie?" Pinkie asked slightly concerned at Rainbow's befuddled look towards the cupcake.
"Oh, its nothing. Thanks Pinkie." Rainbow replied as she begun to eat the cupcake. Smiling now that she felt reassured Rainbow was ok, Pinkie continued,
"Okey dokey! Just tell me if you need anything else." Before bouncing away to tend to another customer.
As Rainbow Dash finished her cupcake she began to wonder what got her feeling... weird all of a sudden. I hope this feeling Isn't me getting sick or anything. I still need to go over net weeks weather schedule with everypony at work. Rainbow thought, confused about the way she was feeling. She decided to fly a lap around the city, hoping it would help her feel better.
Pinkie Pie gazed as Rainbow left sugar cube corner, noticing all too well the way her hips swayed as she- Started to wonder why Dashie still seems so upset. She giggled momentarily at her own changing thought process but quickly went back to worrying for her friend. Should I throw her a party? Oooh! I'll make it a surprise! But she quickly omitted that idea as she remembered that time she threw Rarity a surprise party, and all her friends found out just how intimate she had gotten with the stallion she was dating at the time.Hmmm, what to do....
As Rainbow flew around the town she let her mind wander. She thought about many things. Like about clouds, how soft and fluffy they were, why Scootaloo was falling to the ground, how Celestia could control both the sun and-WHY IS SCOOTALOO FALLING? Rainbow sped through the air fast enough to just barley catch the screaming filly before meeting her earthy fate. She then landed safely in front of the little crusaders home, slightly irritated that this probably had something to do with getting her cutie mark somehow.
"Scootaloo! What were you thinking?" Rainbow said with a frown.
"It's not like i was trying to fall!" Scootaloo then replied.
Thankful that this wasn't some stunt to get her cutie mark Rainbow pressed on, "Why were you falling through the air?" Scootaloo hesitated before speaking up, horribly embarrassed at how uncool she must have looked falling through the air even as a fellow Pegasus.
"Well, I asked my dad if he could help me learn how to fly, so he put me on top of a cloud and told me I'd figure it out if I was falling from a cloud and that's when he pushed me."
Rainbow's eye twitched as she had never quite felt such a rage toward anypony this much before. Sure she had times when she had been upset, but at the moment she felt like bucking Scootaloo's dad to next Tuesday. However she kept her composure as she reminded herself how young the filly in front of her actually was. Scootaloo however was terrified, seeing her idols facial expression go through so many changes in mere seconds made her wonder if she should leave before something bad happened. But before she could take her leave Rainbow Dash finally sighed angrily and spoke to Scootaloo in a somewhat calm tone,
"Listen squirt, if you really wanna know how to fly so badly, I'll try to help teach you when I have some free time okay?"Rainbow Dash had been used to seeing anypony being overly excited given she knew Pinkie Pie in general, but at least Pinkie never fainted.

Rainbow landed home from work as she had finished help clear the clouds for the night sky. As big as her house may have seemed to the ponies below, it was more modest than most would have thought. Sporting 2 bedrooms with a bathroom upstairs and a kitchen downstairs with a living room. All be it the house was somewhat barren, aside from the multitude of Wonderbolt posters hanging about every now and then. "Man Cloud Kicker can be such a pain!" Rainbow groaned aloud to no one in particular. It wasn't her fault Cloud Kicker had made plans the morning before her shift. Although her frustrations with Cloud did help keep her thoughts off a certain pink mare, it wasn't a permanent solution. All day Rainbow had been plagued with thoughts involving Pinkie Pie. Why does she make me feel funny? Why can't I stop thinking about her? Why did I shape this stupid cloud like her? Incidentally Rainbow had accidentally made around 5 Pinkie shaped clouds the rest of the day without realizing it at first until the rest of the whether team started giggling at her which caused her cheeks to burn from embarrassment.
"Agh!" Rainbow let out exasperated as she begun to try to get comfortable in bed. She figured had the entirety of her house not been made out of clouds, she would have spent all night without any proper sleep. "Maybe Fluttershy can help me figure out whats wrong. and then I can'" rainbow yawned loudly, satisfied with the oncoming slumber, "stop thinking about Pinkie 24/7." Finally as she begun to fall asleep she started wondering what it would be like to cuddle the Pink mare as she slept... AGH!, Rainbow thought angrily before sleep soon overcame her and she began to dream.
Pinkie Pie however lay in bed formulating her super secret make Rainbow Dash so happy she might preform a sonic rainboom surprise. "What does Dashie really like?" Pinkie asked to herself aloud. Flying. The Wonderbolts. Flying. Hanging out with me and causing funny pranks on the ponies in town. Flying. Admiration from other ponies. And most of all, doing super awesome cool tricks that gets me cheering for her every time I see Dashie practicing, while flying. Pinkie gasped deeply as she had the most perfect surprise for Rainbow finally figured out. "But where am I gunna get bottled sunlight from?" Pinkie asked herself as she began to fall asleep. I wonder how Dashie feels about cuddling? Pinkie wondered before finally drifting off to slumber.
Scootaloo awoke in her bed speaking a mile a minute before noticing she was in her room alone. She could hear her parents fighting downstairs, so she assumed it was because of her dad pushing her off the cloud earlier. Even so, she never got used to the sound of them arguing. She always ended up feeling like it was her fault her parents just couldn't get along together. As the events from earlier finally caught up with her, the orange filly bounced around in glee knowing that the coolest mare in town, her idol, the one and only, Rainbow Dash, would be her flying teacher. Although as the moments of bliss passed she decided to go back to sleep, deciding it would be better than hearing her parents argue until 2:00 in the morning. "I wish Rainbow Dash could be my real sister..." Scootaloo sighed as she began to slowly fall asleep.
