The land of Arcadia is a snow covered land, the ponies within it suffering from brutal winters and chilly summers. Families from Equestria migrated many years ago and they have created a kingdom of their own, have expanded to become a nation run by royals and broke away from their equestrian roots.

In the city of Eastgate, Candle, a squire for a lord of House Snow Storm is given the most important task: deliver a message to the lord of another family. One that can threaten the reputations of both families and the others within Arcadia's borders. To add to his problems, he is given another task that would have him trek across the land.

Abeni is a monk, on her way to complete a religious pilgrimage to prove she is worthy of entering an ancient order. Now she is stuck in Arcadia with only the slightest clue to get around.

Torch is a knight serving under a royal family. He is tasked with protecting the daughter of the house with his life. His job is simple enough, except for the fact that a lot of ponies want to see the girl dead.
