Collecting Friendship

It was a beautiful summer day in Equestria, the sun was high in the sky and there was barely a cloud to be seen. The citizens of the small town of Ponyville went merrily about their lives as they savored one of the last days they had before summer turned to fall. Pegasi lounged in what few clouds there were, little fillies played games in the parks, various ponies trotted through the streets going about their business. It was an all around perfect day in Ponyville.

Meanwhile...

"Remind me again why we are in the Everfree forest," said the spirit of chaos, Discord as he floated on a cotton candy cloud in the air next to the alicorn Twilight Sparkle, they traveled down the dirt path under the shade of the trees.

"I need help taking some of the old books from the Castle of the Two Sisters to my new house.” Twilight replied.

“Oh right.” Discord rolled his eyes.

“A better question for you is why don’t you teleport the books to my house,” Twilight thought of that for some time as they traveled down the dirt path.

“Well, where would the fun be in just doing that…besides then I couldn’t spent the day with my friend,” Discord smiled at Twilight who smiled back.

Twilight and Discord continued forward down the path. It had been a month since defeating Tirek and saving Equestria, Twilight felt great now that she found her purpose as Princess of Friendship, but also the fact the she and her friends were real friends with the spirit of chaos. After the Tirek incident, Discord has been acting more responsible and kind around his friends with only a few pranks and jokes between them.

Suddenly out of thin air an emerald colored vortex appeared above the two, the spiraling of the vortex’s center bang to pull the air around them. Discord and Twilight tried to use there magic but nothing happened as they found themselves sucked into the vortex. they scream in a ocean of spinning green magic for some time until they were tossed onto a unfamiliar ground.

“Oh my head…” Discord groaned as he rubbed her temples of his head.

“What happened?” asked the confused Twiligh as she tried to stand on her hooves.

As soon as they recovered from the vortexes dizzying effect, they were both shocked and confused as before them was clearly not the Everfree forest, or even Equestria. The area that they were in was unreal,There were rolling hills of verdant green, fields of lush crops and beds of vibrant flowers. The land was encased by dark tall mountains that stretched far into the sky. however this land only extended into an area about the size of Ponyville. There was a small house at the center, and beyond the area was truly unnerving as the land was clearly in a giant glass sphere floating in the void of space. Discord and Twilight were in a giant terrarium sphere.

Discord and Twilight rose off the ground, wondering about this land and searching for some kind of answer to why they were here. After a few minutes it was clear that there is no way out of this strange place, even when Discord tried to teleport him and Twilight away, nothing happened. Twilight tried to teleport or even use magic but found that she could not either.

Twilight went inside the house on the hill and found a book called ‘The Terrarium’ this prison blocked the duo from using any magic, it also provided sustenance and entertainment. The book said that food and water would appear on a table in the little house, while it had a large basement filled with books of all kinds from various realities.

Discord fidgeted around nervously while Twilight as analysing the problem. Out of nowhere, beyond the terrarium’s glass a strange creature appeared, it wore strange almost alien black robe with red linings and a strange circular amulet on his chest, it also had a emerald green aura radiating from its body which only the head was uncovered revealing a demonic skull head with one large crimson red eye.

“Greetings my little collectibles,” said the bizarre creature floating in the void of space, looking like a giant monster to the two creatures in the glass.

“Who are you? why are we here!?” Twilight demanded.

“Let me introduce myself, I am The Collector, your new friend and keeper.”

This only confused Twilight further as Discord moved up to the creature with his nose pressed up against the glass of the terrarium.

“Who do you think you are, trapping the princess of magic and friendship, and the handsome spirit of chaos?!” Discord yelled in a mocking voice.

“Oh I do believe this will be interesting,  much better than my last collection.”

“I still don't understand why we are here! why we can't use our magic?!” Twilight joined Discord and screamed at there captor.

“It is simple, I can't have you using that magic to ruin your value or try and escape. But if it will make you fill more welcome I will explain your situation, you see my kind of sailed across the cosmos for eons upon eons, each one of us is trying to succeed at the ultimate goal, have the greatest collection in all of existence. you and your friend are part of my Equestria collection, Forever.”

It took a few minutes as the information set into their minds, some kind of extra dimensional monster has captured them for his sick collection.

“You can't do this to us!!!” screamed Discord as loud as he could.

“But I already have, now you two play nice now, hahahha.”

Discord rammed into the glass only to be knocked back to the ground, twilight ran to his aid as she saw the collector fade into the empty void…Twilight looked at Discord.

“What are we going to do? Discord asked as he rubed his head in annoyance.

“I…I don’t know.”

It has been a month since Twilight and Discord have been taken captive by The Collector. Discord and Twilight did not waste anytime trying to find away out of the Collector’s terrarium as they searched through every nook and cranny for an escape. When that eventually failed they tried looking through the house’s basement for a book on a way to use their magic. Twilight was now trying random incantations as Discord crossed his finger.

"I hope this works.” said a tired twilight.

Nothing happened.

“No!” twilight screamed in frustration.

“I can’t make our magic work, we’re trapped…” Twilight began to weep a bit.

Discord walked to her and gave her a hug to try and calm her down.

“It is ok twilight, we can get thru this.” Said Discord with a calming voice.

Three months later, with their escape plans halted the duo did what they could to keep themselves sane in the terrarium, thankfully the basement they had many novels along with new ones that would appear at a regular time of a day. Both Discord and Twilight hoped that by chance a book with a way to help them escape would arrives, until then they both took up reading what they had. Discord one day was reading a novel while sitting on a easy chair in the basement, he found himself looking at twilight part of worry for her sanity in this prison and another part he found strange.

He found himself looking a twilight quite a bit more often these days, he would think how intelligent, strong, and beautiful she was and it made him feel strange as he had never thought of feelings like this before. In an interesting turn of events twilight had begun to think of Discord more and more. Mostly of how he could be was very serious and intelligent as well as making her laugh quite a bit.

Both of them quickly tried to put these thoughts aside but found that the giving situation was making it harder and harder. They both depended and relied on each other to keep themselves sane in this prison. A strange time as Discord and Twilight became closer and closer in there relationship, they would fight but mostly out of silly things. Most of the time, they gave each other strength, eventually falling in love. In the next two years, Twilight and Discord conceived a beloved child they named Iris, a filly with a light brown coat with purple mane and tail who had her father’s silliness and her mother’s intelligence.

It had been five years today that Discord and Twilight were taken by The Collector, who seemed to never come back, until.

“Happy birthday Iris!” both Twilight and Discord yelled in joy to their beloved daughter.

Thank you mommy and daddy!” she said with pure joy as he began to blow out the birthday cake candles.

Twilight began to think of all that happened in the terrarium while watching her daughter. Even thought she and Discord were in love and had a wonderful child she began to wonder about her friends and family back in Equestria, if they are ok, if they are searching for them, To the surprise of family inside the terrarium, appearing out of nowhere on the other side of the glass was The Collector. Iris was confused as she for all her life had never seen anyone other there her parents. Discord and Twilight were shocked to see there captor after these five long years as they move closer to protect their daughter just in case.

“What is going on here?!” The collector screamed at the family.

“What do you mean?! Where were you all this time?” Twilight demanded glaring up at The Collector.

“What?! I've only been gone for five minutes,” The collector added to the confusion.

“No! No! No!” You have been gone for five years!” Yelled Discord.

“Not again…” The collector gowned as he took of a strange amulet of his chest and began to poke it with annoyance.

“Great, my amulet is broken again…”

“You care to explain why you've been gone so long?” Twilight asked.

“This amulet gives me the ability to go throughout time and space, but it seems is on the fritz again and was five minutes from me was five years for you… and now my collection is ruined….” In a flash of green light the family disappered.

“Great…” The Collector sighed fusraed as he looked on the back of his amulet to call technical support.

After the light of green faded the two parients looked up to see that they were in the Everfree forest. They were home, finally home after all these years. The family was truly surprised as a mixture of feelings came over them, to finally feel the real grass underneath them and the fresh air of Equestria on there faces. There daughter Iris was still confused by the entire situation, until Twilight expanded that this was her true home to which Iris smiled happily along with your parents. After a few minutes, Discord snapped his fingers having his magic back to warp them to Twilight’s Castle. Twilight went to show Iris the castle’s many rooms while Discord went to the balcony to feel the sun’s warmth on his fur…until he noticed something, a calendar which held the same date as all those years ago. Discord quickly rushed to Twilight with this news…

“If I'm right, we have been gone for only five minutes,” Discord held onto Twilight as he could only think of how she was taking all of this information until she hugged Discord and Iris…

“It does not matter to me, so long as we are together.”
