In My Time of Flying
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryRainbow Dash soared through the sky at speeds that could baffle the Wonderbolts themselves. She knew she would be the greatest flyer in all of Equestria if she kept practicing. Then, she could finally impress her. She practiced and practiced. She reached speeds rivaling that of a rocket. Rainbow Dash did not think of one small detail. She didn't think she would need glasses to see due to her pride. Her eyes began blurring up. The wind muffled every sound she could have heard. She lost her sense of direction and ability to stop, so decided to fly in the direction she believed to be into the skies. Sadly, her sense of direction failed her. She closed her eyes for a moment to keep them from getting too dried up. When she opened them, she was pierced with many shards of wood.
Her vision slowly began to fade, but not before she saw Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy standing before her, shocked and startled. Fluttershy ran to RD's side. Rainbow Dash looked to Fluttershy. Her ears rang like she stood next to a nuclear blast. She saw Fluttershy's lips moving, but she couldn't hear any words. Pinkie rushed over and helped Fluttershy pick her up. Rainbow Dash then lost consciousness.
Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy hurried to the hospital with Rainbow Dash in their hooves. The hospital seemed busier than ever before. Pinkie to hold of RD while Fluttershy rushed to the counter to tell them of the catastrophe they witnessed and the immediate attention their friend needed. "I'm sorry, but we don't have enough room in the hospital. Your friend will have to wait," the mare at the front desk said. Fluttershy became enraged and began shouting. "Are you kidding me?! You're a hospital! You're suppose to have a room in case every pony in town is in need of attention! If you don't have enough room, you make room!" Fluttershy demanded. "I really am sorry, but a lot of travelers came by will very serious ailments and we don't have enough room for a single pony," the mare exclaim. "Fine! I'll take care of her since you hospital ponies won't do your job!" She explained in rage. "If you're going to do that, we'll give you some equipment and supplies to take care of her. I will warn you of this: the heart monitor we will give you is faulty and doesn't always work. But, we will give it to you," they offered. Fluttershy accepted and took everything, including Rainbow Dash, to her cottage.
Once the machines were plugged in and operational, Fluttershy began removing the shards of wood lodged in Rainbow Dash's body. The sight of the blood coming from Rainbow's body almost made Fluttershy faint, but, her love for Rainbow Dash kept her conscious. She cleaned out her wounds and hooked her up into the machines. Rainbow's pulse was regular and going strong. "What in the hay did she mean when she said the equipment didn't work right? It works just fine," Fluttershy said to herself. She stitched up RD's gashes and made sure there weren't any more open wounds on her body. In her search, she notice how cute Rainbow looked while she lay there. "She'll wake up," Fluttershy thought to herself. "I know she will," a tear came to her eye. She cried at Rainbow's side as she contemplated the worst.
