The Light of the Rainbow

I painfully opened my eyes; all I could remember was being mugged by a couple of gangsters. As I absorbed my surroundings, I couldn't help but think how much the world would be better without me. I immediately remembered that I got kicked out of that stupid hotel. I cursed and kicked a pebble, how do people even live in this city? I thought as I went over to the train station and used the remaining amount of my bits to get the train ticket to Ponyville. Ok, I gotta admit that I didn't wanna go there, but I had no choice, and that was the cheapest. "Train to Ponyville! All aboard!" shouted the conductor. I followed the crowd into the train and sat in the back, which was empty. Unfortunately, a mare chose to sit down beside me. I tried to ignore her, but she started talking. "Well, hello there!" she said in a fancy tone.

"Hi"

"My name's Rarity! What's your’s, darling?"

"Name's Lightning." I said in a bored tone

She started talking about dresses and hats, which thankfully made me, fall asleep. I woke up with Rarity poking me "What?!" I asked in an annoyed tone

"We've arrived, silly!"

I stood up and trotted out of the train. The next thing I knew, I was tackled and was now on the soft grass. I looked up and saw a pink mare with really puffy hair, she also had this large grin on that crept me out.

"Ohmygosh, a stranger! MynameisPinkiePieandwelcometoPonyvilleandhaveIseenyoubefore?" At this point she was talking so fast, I couldn't understand her. She gasped and said something about a welcome party, and sprinted away. She left me there on the ground, confused about what happened. I brushed myself off and walked over to the rental office, it wasn't really full, but with a couple of ponies sitting around, or standing in line. I asked one of the workers if there was a cabin I could rent, but there wasn't any. "Excuse me?" came a raspy voice behind me. I turned and froze. Standing behind me was the flyer I had admired so much back home. Rainbow Dash, the fastest and best flier in Equestria. I snapped out of my thought and stuttered, "R-Rainbow Dash?"

"Yep! That's my name, you heard of me?"

"Of course I have! You were a big deal back where I used to live!" I exclaimed

"Really?!" She asked, full of excitement

I nodded

"Where did you live?"

"I'd rather not talk about it" I said and returned to my sad state

"Why?"

I sighed and showed her the scar on my wing. She widened her eyes and stared at me. I knew that she can tell it is a knife scar, so I nodded. “What happened?”

“Can we talk about this in private?” I asked

“Sure, as long as you tell me how it happened, miste-”

“Lightning” I finished for her

We walked to a secluded place and started talking. I told her the story of how I got mugged, and that I wanted to die. She gasped and asked why I wanted that to happen, so I told her. At the end of the story, I was at the verge of tears. I closed my eyes tightly and felt a tear go down my cheek. I felt a pair of hooves around me, which then I felt warm and knew this was what it’s like to be hugged. I opened my eyes and saw that she had a worried expression on her face. “Don’t worry, Dash, I won’t do it.” Her expression then relieved and she asked where I’m going to stay for the night. I said I’ll probably find a bench or something to sleep on. “No! You can stay with me!”

“Are you sure that won’t be a problem?”

“Of course not! Let’s go!” she said and flew into the direction of her house

I followed her into the cloud house, and of course, it looked amazing and was very large. “Pretty awesome, huh?” she said. I nodded in astonishment. All of a sudden, the lights came on and everypony from the town was inside, "SUPRISE!!!!" they all shouted and I was startled for a little bit, and then the party started. 5 mares came forward and introduced themselves: Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, as I had seen earlier, and of course, Rainbow Dash. The party went on for hours, until the last pony left.

"Alright, you should go take a shower, I left a towel in there for you." Rainbow said, cleaning up the mess

"How about you?"

"Nah, I already took one before the race this morning"

I nodded and walked into the bathroom. After around 15 minutes, I came out smelling like Rainbow because I used her shampoo. I trotted to the living room to see her making a sandwich.

"Hungry, Lightning?"

"No, I'm good, but thanks for the offer." I said

After she ate her sandwich, she said that it was pretty late, so I walked to the couch.

"What are you doing?" she asked

"Sleeping on the couch"

"No, you're sleeping with me"

My heart rate quickened after she said that. "A-Are you sure, Dash?"

"Of course! Now let's go before I have to pull you in here."

I chuckled nervously and walked into her bedroom. I was laying down right next to the edge when she said, "Come on, scooch closer, I don't bite" I moved a few inches closer to her and she wrapped her wings around me. My heart skipped a beat, and i eventually fell asleep.
