A Day Off
A day off, the first in a long time for Rainbow Blitz. He couldn't remember the last one he had, though it might not have been that long ago. It didn't matter, because the day was young. He'd done his morning fly practice, and now he wanted to see one of his friends. It would be fun, he thought, to pay a surprise visit to Dusk Shine. So Rainbow took off into the sky, wasting no time.
It was a shame his other friends weren't available today, but their work usually didn't align perfectly every time. Applejohn would most likely be working the farm, Bubble Berry would have some kind of party. The only other pony he could think of that would be free besides Dusk Shine was Butter Scotch, but he... wasn't fond of surprises. In fact, a surprise visit could just about put him in the hospital. Dusk on the other hand was an exception, being the town librarian and student of Equestria's Princess left him more time then the rest for hanging out, especially since starting the study of friendship. Blitz planned to make use of that today to hang out with his buddy.
He couldn't deny that there was a guilty pleasure in hanging out with him. They had more to talk about, too, since Dusk had exposed Rainbow to the joys of reading. There was more to it then that though. Dusk was somepony Rainbow Blitz enjoyed looking at, even though it was a secret that he liked stallions. The way Dusk walked, the way he could keep his appearance in such a simple and efficient way, the smarts, the magical prowess, the leadership. It was all something Rainbow coveted in a respectful way, and it only made him push himself harder to achieve his own dreams.
As he neared the library, he slowed. He scanned to see if Dusk had a window open, a tell-tale sign that he was awake. Sure enough, he spotted one on the top floor near the bedroom. He made a landing on the balcony, his wings instinctively folding to their rested positions as he quietly opened the porch door. He wanted to surprise him, just to see him jump. After all, what good was a surprise visit without a little surprise?
He wasn't in the room as he opened the door. He heard soft snoring coming from the upstairs, but that was probably Barb. Then he heard a soft sound, which he assumed was pages turning, coming from the downstairs. He came in and gently closed the door, feeling his heart race with adrenaline at being sneaky. He made his way to the stairs and carefully tip-toed down. If Dusk was reading, he'd have a bad case of tunnel vision which would make him nearly incapable of perceiving the world around him. Rainbow Blitz didn't want to take a chance though, doing his best to avoid the squeaky spots all the way to the bottom. He spotted Dusk laying on the floor, a book open and a quill in his magic grasp. As Blitz made his approach he saw Dusk put the quill in the ink, dabbing a few times, before quickly going back to writing.
Rainbow stopped just a few feet behind Dusk, taking slow breaths to stay as quiet as possible. Dusk may not be very athletic, but somehow he just managed to have a perfect shape in Rainbow's eyes. A gently curved rump, a slender back, sleek and closely trimmed coat. Blitz smiled, for it was always a pleasant sight. Perhaps someday he'd try his luck, but until then he'd just enjoy the eye-candy.
Rainbow opened his wing and swiftly stepped in beside Dusk on the left side, grabbing his hoof and wrapped his wing around his friend. He was rewarded with a gasp of shock, and an abrupt standing of Dusk.
"Hey, Duskie," he said slowly, putting emphasis on the K. Dusk Shine grew wide eyed and noticeably blushed as he looked away.
"Rainbow, what are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you," he said coyly. He seemed to snap out of it as Rainbow laughed and came to sit next to Dusk.
"I know. I had the day off, though, so I thought I'd stop by and see what kind of egg-head stuff you were up to." Blitz added a wink at the joke, but Dusk didn't seem amused glaring at him with annoyed expression.
"Well, I barely just woke up so I haven't gotten a chance to start anything yet." Dusk sighed, and grabbed his book with his magic and stood up. He started walking toward the bookshelf.
"Well, I'm not gonna stop you, but lunch is on me later if you want," Blitz offered. Dusk finished putting away the book and then grabbed the quill and ink with his magic.
"I ... sure. Just let me take care of a couple things," Dusk said as he set down the items. Blitz smiled, but was starting to wonder if he had made a mistake.
"No problem, I'll just grab a book or something," Blitz said. "Hey, did you get that new copy of Daring Do yet?" he asked.
Dusk Shine stopped at the question near the top of the stairs. Looking back over his shoulder, he scanned the room."Yeah, I did. Hold on." His horn glowed and a book at the top shelf of the far corner of the room lit up. It floated off the shelf and over toward Rainbow. Blitz held out his hoofs and let the book fall into them, holding it with a huge grin on his face.
"Awesome!" he said.
"Enjoy. I'll try not to take long, but I was in the middle of something last night and I don't want to lose my momentum," Dusk said.
"No problemo, amigo. I'll be here!" Blitz said. And with that, he dove into the book.
Blitz was on chapter 4 when he looked at the clock and realized it had been nearly 45 minutes. He closed the book, and sat up giving his back a stretch. He felt his back pop in a few places, letting out a sigh of relief at the ease of tension. He slowly made his way up the steps, feeling antsy.
As he got to the top, he saw Dusk standing at a table and diligently working. Many beakers filled with different colored fluids amassed the table in front of him. To his side was a large sheet of paper on an easel, covered in notes and equations that boggled Blitz's mind with their apparent complexity. Blitz walked closer.
"How's it coming, Duskie?" he asked. Dusk noticeably flinched and looked back to Blitz over his shoulder.
"Just a second, Rainbow," he said almost sounding angry. Blitz couldn't help but feel confused.
"Look, if it's a bad time, I can leave. Really. I don't want to be in the way," he said as sincerely as he could. Dusk's expression softened and a noticeable blush appeared on his face. Blitz melted a little at it.
"I ... don't mean it like that ..." Dusk started. Blitz started to walk closer starting to feel a vibe that something was bothering his friend. "I just wasn't expecting any company today, and I had plans, and you know how I am about plans." Dusk wasn't crying, but Blitz could hear the wavering of his voice. There must be more to it then that. Yeah, Dusk was OCD, but he should know Blitz well enough to know that it shouldn't bother him.
"Hey, no worries, okay?" he said, with a smile and a pat on Dusk's back. "I'll go back downstairs. You just take your time. You know I'm cool." And with that, Blitz started for the steps. Something stopped him however.
"Rainbow, wait ..." came the meek voice of Dusk as his hooves wrapped around Blitz. Blitz felt his heart lurch at the contact, such a wonderful feeling! "I'm sorry, I know it seems like I'm blowing you off, but I'm not ... it's just ..." Blitz turned to face Dusk, feeling his face heat up at the closeness. He realized, with a touch of humor, that he was within kissing distance of his friend.
"Just what?" Blitz asked softly, a reassuring smile on his face. Dusk let go, but one hoof still lingered on his shoulder before landing softly on the floor.
Dusk took a deep breath then looked Blitz in the eyes, "Never mind, I'm sorry. It's nothing bad, I promise. It's just ... something I have to deal with."
"Um, hello. Element of Loyalty here," Rainbow said with a salute which got a slight smirk out of Dusk. "I won't judge you. Especially if it's nothing bad." He snickered. "I might laugh, though. I can't promise I won't laugh." With that he had to dodge a playful punch from Dusk to his chest. "But seriously, anything you want to tell me is fair game. I promise you'll always be my friend, even if I have to tell you something you don't like because of it, like ... if it were something bad ... I would do it cause you're my friend."
"That's just it Rainbow, I ..." Dusk paused, then looked away. "I ..." Blitz was hanging on every word. Until at last Dusk looked up at Blitz with a pained expression. "I want you to stay my friend, but ... I think ... I might be a colt-cuddler." Dusk looked at the floor feeling shame.
"Is that all?" Blitz said without missing a beat. It took a moment for the truth to sink into Blitz's brain, but it slowly did. That meant there was a possibility after all. "Pfft, that's nothing. So am I! So what's next, or can we go back to being happy?"
"Wait," said Dusk frowning slightly. "Really?"
"Yeah. I'm not out though, so don't tell anypony else," Blitz added quickly. Dusk smiled, for the first time genuinely so far, at the news.
"I'm sorry. I guess I was getting worked up over nothing," Dusk said. Blitz did notice now there was a slight awkward tension in the room. It made him smile. He could try to work this toward his plan to seduce Dusk.
"You usually do, but don't worry. It's part of your charm," Blitz said with a playful smile. He let his eyes wander to Dusk's hind legs, feeling more comfortable letting them linger for a second. "So how long have you known?" He asked after remaking eye contact.
"It's only been recently that I even had the idea that I might be," Dusk replied slowly. "After I moved to Ponyville I started to have strange thoughts. I thought I was a freak. I didn't even know the term colt-cuddler until after I talked with Princess Luna in a dream of mine."
"I hate when she does that," said Blitz taking up a spot next to Dusk Shine.
"She told me that, while abnormal, it's not something I should feel bad about. She said, 'If it's who you are then embrace it.' I still worried if perhaps I shouldn't tell anypony since I don't know for sure. I've never done anything with anypony, it's just thoughts. For months now I've turned it over and over in my mind, and still don't know if it's just some random thing or more than that."
Blitz nodded. Even though the discovery was easy for him, it still wasn't something he wanted public until after he knew it wouldn't matter anymore. He knew it shouldn't, and in a perfect world it wouldn't. But his dream of making it into the Wonderbolts was everything to him, and he didn't want anything potentially construed as negative to impact that. So he kept it a secret. Knowing that Dusk, a stallion he knew he liked, was one also took some of the weight off.
"So, have you done it before?" Dusk asked quietly. Blitz jumped a little bit at the realization of what he had just been asked.
"Once, a long time ago ... " Blitz said in return.
"I see. I was just curious," Dusk said sheepishly. Blitz grinned, and snuggled closer to Dusk.
"Curious, huh?" he said jokingly nudging his shoulder with a hoof. Dusk laughed, but he pulled away only slightly. An electrifying eye contact made Blitz's breath hitch. Dusk suddenly became dreamy eyed.
"Have you ever ... kissed another pony?" Dusk asked breathy. Their faces were so close that the whips of air coming from Dusk's mouth were enough to make Rainbow's mane jitter slightly.
"A few times," said Blitz with a husky voice. He liked where this was going, and couldn't resist anymore. "Close your eyes," He said softly with a slight nudge of his nose on Dusk's face. Dusk complied after taking a deep breath. With his heart hammering in his chest Blitz brought his lips to Dusk's and kissed him. It was a warmth that Blitz longed for and cherished that spread through his body. Being that it was Dusk's first kiss he wanted to make sure that it lasted, so he slowly moved his tongue across the other's lips. He felt a gasp and used that to lightly stroke the inside of his mouth. Dusk moaned and started to relax putting hooves around Blitz's neck. Blitz felt Dusk move his tongue in what seemed like experimental touches that sent tingles down his body. A stirring was felt in his loins, but he relaxed and continued the kiss, breaking for air only for a moment before diving back in.
The kiss slowly began to pick up fervor as Dusk began to get used to and even enjoy the moment. "It was ... magical. Like I was floating on a cloud," Dusk replied.
"Want to keep going?" Blitz asked. He didn't want to rush Dusk, but that kiss left him slightly drunk in the head that he wouldn't say no to going further either. To punctuate the message, he started placing kisses against Dusk's neck, and gently let his stallionhood press down into him. Dusk moaned, but shuddered.
"What about Barb? She might hear us ..." Dusk said, worried.
"We could always go back downstairs. It's up to you," Blitz suggested. Blitz continued his dizzying assault of kisses and touches and light grinding while Dusk squirmed and bit his lip to bite back a moan.
"I, uh, suppose we could ... do that," Dusk managed to gasp out. With that Blitz lifted himself off of Dusk. Rainbow extended a hoof toward Dusk in an invitation.
"Come here," he said. Dusk slowly stood up and as he did, Rainbow extended one of his wings and pulled Dusk close so that he was standing flank to flank and shoulder to shoulder with him. He left it there as they walked down the steps. He caught a glimpse of Dusk rock-hard and wet as he was standing up, and that only made Blitz ache more for him.
When they got downstairs, Blitz immediately locked lips with Dusk again, causing Dusk to get weak-kneed. Guiding Dusk to the floor, he laid down next to him and began to shower kisses down his body. "Do you want to go first, or should I?" Blitz asked during his barrage.
"I don't know. What's the proper way?" Dusk asked shyly. Blitz chuckled at the response. Of course Dusk would worry about procedure and correctness even during something like this.
"Tell you what, just do what I do." And with that, Blitz stood and reversed his body so that his rear was now toward Dusk's face. Blitz looked intently at the package before him. "So, should we get lunch now?" Blitz asked, giving Dusk a playful grin. Dusk seemed shocked.
"What?" he exclaimed. "I mean, what about you?"
"I'm fine, this was very special to me," Blitz said. "You don't have to worry about me right now, I'm satisfied."
"But ... I want to. I can't feel satisfied until you've had yours," Dusk pleaded. Then he bit his lip. "So, let's do it," He said bravely.
"Are you sure?" Blitz asked, a warm feeling washing through him at the thought of plowing that plot. "It can hurt a little for your first time." Blitz didn't want to discourage Dusk, but his friend deserved to know what he was asking for. "I'm sure this won't be the last time we have some fun, so don't feel rushed." Dusk shook his head.
"Now you sound like you don't want to," he said with a slight chuckle. Blitz quickly kissed him in response.
"Like hell I don't," Blitz said, resting his forehead against Dusk's after breaking the kiss. Dusk had closed his eyes and took a shaky nervous breath. He was scared, but in a good way. "No, I've decided. I want this," Dusk said confidently, despite his shaky voice. Blitz shivered at the prospect, but he couldn't turn down that face.
