//-------------------------------------------------------// Letters of Luxury -by VinylScratched- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/14/1228 To: Ms. Redheart //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/14/1228 To: Ms. Redheart To: Ms. Redheart I write to you because I am back in Manehatten and hadn’t had another chance to speak with you. My employer, Lady Rarity, has agreed to deliver this letter for me. In fact, she was the one who had suggested such a letter. I’m sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, didn’t I? My name is Coco Pommel. I am one of Rarity’s tailors, and I manage her boutique here in Manehatten. You see, I had been in Ponyville for a few days; Rarity requested my help with some dresses. Apparently everyone needed dresses and suits all at once, and she just couldn’t handle it all on her own. Well, during my stay I noticed you. I truly hope you don’t take this all the wrong way. You see, I was the one who designed and made the red evening gown for you several weeks ago. I believe you had it made for a wedding, but I’m not quite sure by now. I’m sorry, Ms. Redheart, I don’t really know how else to go about this, I’ve never done this before and it’s hard for me to try and think it all out. We spoke once, very briefly about your dress, though, it wasn’t anything more than a few words of business. Ever since then, I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind. I have talked to Ms. Rarity about how I feel and what I might need to do. Since I’m needed here in Manehatten, I can’t exactly come visit you in person, so she suggested the letter or for me to take a weekend off. Which isn’t like me, I cherish my work too much to be so greedy: to leave Manehatten to pursue a possibly painful scenario… Anyways, I meant to ask you, do you have a special pony in your life? Oh, Celestia, that is such a rude question to ask, especially in my first and possibly the only letter to you. Well, I may as well spit it all out now, shouldn’t I? I saw you once or twice and we shared a few business words regarding the red evening gown you had commissioned to be made. I don’t know what it was, but my heart jumped into my throat when I saw you. I could barely speak, but being as shy as I am, even writing this letter has taken me hours. Simply because I don’t know what to write! It’s so hard to write a letter to a pony you know nothing about… especially a love letter. All I know for sure is that I felt something, you’re special, if, to no one else, you’re special to me. I felt it when I first saw you and I feel it every time I think of you. You’ve been haunting my memories and my thoughts for days on end. I’m sorry… Again… I guess I should stop writing this thing, it’s starting to come out a lot weirder than I had hoped for. Anyways, in case you had forgotten who I was by what my name was, I was the shy white mare with the short teal mane. If that makes it any easier for you to remember me. I imagine you’re quite a busy mare so please, please, take your time responding. I’m truly sorry if this is received and you already have some special somepony. I hope you’ve had a pleasant Hearts and Hooves day. If you can reply, please do but, no need to feel rushed. I have patience and plenty of work to keep my mind occupied, for awhile at least. With high hopes, ~Coco Pommel //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/19/1228 To: Ms. Pommel //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/19/1228 To: Ms. Pommel To: Ms. Pommel Hello, Ms. Pommel. I have received your letter, and I must say: you apologize way too often. It was a pleasure to meet you in Rarity’s boutique and that red evening gown is a beautiful piece of work, and it served it’s purpose so well too! Everypony had questioned who made it, many agreed it was too good to be made by Rarity’s hooves. Though I had disagreed with them and now you’ve proven me wrong. You’re quite the tailor, Ms. Pommel. I am honored that you had taken the time to write me, I must say it was quite a sudden and unexpected little letter, sandwiched between bills and ads. It was a pleasant surprise. To answer your first question, no, I don’t have a special somepony. I’ve always been too busy with my clients and patients to bother with a romance. Simply because I never had the time to search for one. Oh, and I do remember what you look like and how you sound, and for some reason, as I looked at the closed letter, my heart skipped a beat, it was quite a surprise to me too. As I first started reading your letter I was a little confused as to your desire to write a pony such as me, generally, I’d only receive random letters from family members or lawyers, requesting assistance in some fashion or another. Luckily this wasn’t the case or else I’d have tossed the letter aside and ignored the request. I don’t much care for being asked to make a trip across Equestria to help some sniveling foal with a sore throat. I must say, I thought you were quite adorable when we first met, even if we only exchanged business words… I’m just glad you’ve decided to mail me. Unfortunate for us, our work situations require our attentions and I don’t think we’ll be able to meet anytime soon. I’d like to see where this relationship could possibly go, but for now, we’ll have to stick to letters. Is that okay? Oh! Almost forgot, Ms. Pommel, you may call me Joy. Joy Redheart. Not many ponies know my first name, except close friends and family. So I hope I can trust you to keep your lips sealed on some topics. I’ve only ever let one pony know that I prefer mares. I really hope I can trust you with this… The only reason I’ve said so much, even considering this is only my first letter, is because I… My Hearts and Hooves day wasn’t bad, but it really made me realize how lonely I am. So I want to give you a chance, to see if we are capable of making something work. I want to feel loved… even if we can’t meet yet. The letters will give us a chance to get to know each other more personally. We can talk and no one will know. So can I trust you, Ms. Pommel? Like I trusted you to make me a beautiful dress. Because if so, I’d be happy. Your new friend, ~Joy Redheart //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/23/1228 To: Ms. Redheart //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/23/1228 To: Ms. Redheart To: Ms. Redheart Hello, Joy! How have you been? Of course I’m capable of keeping your secrets, that will not be a problem, considering the lack of friends I actually have left after the incident with Siri, my old boss. I suppose I should tell you a little more about myself, and hopefully, you’ll be willing to do the same. I’m honestly not sure how to go about doing this, I’ve never described myself through a letter, or really had anyone to write letters to besides Ms. Rarity, but that’s only under business circumstances. I suppose I’ll start with some basic stuff. My favorite color is a light green, because Spring is my favorite season, and I love seeing the world’s new life grow. It’s easily the best season. Too bad, though, living here in Manehatten means I don’t get to see as much of it as I’d like. My favorite foods? Perhaps I’m weird but my favorite meal is easily a fresh salad with roasted nuts and a side of carrot rounds. I know, I know, unhealthy fast food, what can you do? Anyways, I honestly just eat whatever I feel like eating but usually, I try to keep myself in good shape by walking everywhere I need to go, even if it’s across town. Now, once in awhile, I’ll take a taxi if I need to be somewhere at a certain time or if I’m dropping off a cloth order. I don’t like having to ride in one of them things. Those earth ponies can get rude sometimes; especially when you’re out of bits. I am a lesbian, of course, many ponies don’t know that I try to keep such information hidden, so I don’t become a victim of one of the hate gangs here in town. I mean, Rarity’s shop isn’t in the low-class area, but we still get some of those gang types every now and again. It wouldn’t surprise me to find a window broken if they knew I was a filly fooler. It’s not my store they’re breaking into, though, it’s Rarity’s and if my sexuality is going to put her store in danger, I’d rather just hide who I am and protect my work. Well there, three tidbits about me, that’s all you’ll get for this letter. I’m mean aren’t I? Anyways, I hope everything is going well for you! Business here has been getting really busy, what with Winter almost over, everypony is ordering spring dresses and suits in preparation for Spring events here and in Canterlot. I can’t wait to get another letter from you! I don’t think you realize just how much I look forward to your next letter. I almost fainted when I saw I had a letter from you in my mail. Actually, I did faint… only for a second or two, long enough for my jaw hit the ground. Anyways, I hope to hear from you soon! Write back whenever you have the opportunity. (Also, does this mean we’re technically dating?) Your friend in Manehatten, ~Coco //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/29/1228 Dear, Coco Pommel //-------------------------------------------------------// 02/29/1228 Dear, Coco Pommel Dear, Coco Pommel Hello, Coco! I was delighted when I saw your letter in my mail. I wouldn’t worry about those hooligans in lower Manehatten like you said, they rarely go that far into the upper-class area but I doubt a boutique would be a very viable target for them. So don’t worry about them, okay? Oh, and to answer your question, of course. I’d like to think of us as a couple, but can we keep it quiet? I mean Rarity can know if she must, but I have no reason to tell anyone about our relationship. I like it better this way, though. It’s fun to do something out of the ordinary once in awhile, and this is definitely out of the ordinary! In a good way, though. I suppose you’d like to know more about me, wouldn’t you? Well, let’s start simple like you did. I love roses, specifically pink roses, I don’t know why but they always make me smile and they look so soft and innocent. What else? My favorite color is actually blue. I love looking at water and the sky and adore the rain! When I was a filly my mother and I would go for walks whenever the Pegasi held a light rain without wind. Hmm… Favorite food? I suppose that would be either potatoes or cabbage, or a cabbage potato stew. It’s hard to tell really. My Dad always ate potatoes and my mother had to cook everything with cabbage. I have literally no idea how I came to loving those two foods so much, even after eating them for so many years. Coco, I have a question for you. What’s your work schedule usually look like? Mine is generally all day every day, working at the hospital as a nurse. Of course you already knew that. My schedule is usually somewhere along the lines of this. Weekdays are simple, 7 to 8 A.M. to 4 to 5 P.M. and I’m on call on weekends and after work. Meaning they can call me in for an emergency whenever they need me. Maybe we can work something out and one of us can come see the other, I’d like to see you face to face again. Perhaps Rarity will need your assistance again? Anyways, I’m not sure what else to say, works been going pretty good, I actually have one mare come in today and thank me. When I asked her why she said it was because of me that her father had had hope and apparently he enjoyed my company and loved to talk to me while he was in the recovery wing. It was interesting, as soon as she told me about him, I remembered and felt as though I was going to cry. The elderly stallion had to have a heart transplant and he was so scared, I helped him through it and I was his nurse for nearly a month afterward. I’m not allowed to say names, but the stallion lived and finally went home. His daughter apparently heard of me from him and wanted to thank me… It’s nice to know you make a difference in the world, even when doing something as menial and mundane as talking to a pony. Changing their perspective and their life without even knowing what goes on after the two of you encounter. It gives me a nice warm feeling when I see someone I’ve nursed back to health. Even if it’s something as trivial as walking through the Ponyville marketplace. You know of Lyra Heartstrings right? If not, that’s fine. Years ago, she barely survived a liver transplant, apparently her original one came with some defects that stopped it from growing properly, I wasn’t a nurse back then, but apparently it was Vinyl Scratch of all ponies who provided her with half a liver, and it works. She recently came in for a checkup and that liver is healthier than ever, it’s almost fully regrown the other half! Sorry… I kinda went off on a tangent didn’t I? Oh well. Anyways, anything interesting happening there in Manehatten? Your friend, Joy Redheart //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/04/1228 Greetings, Lady Rarity //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/04/1228 Greetings, Lady Rarity Greetings, Lady Rarity The Manehatten branch of your business, Carousel Boutique, hasn’t had any notable problems thus far. However, our business has declined slightly over the last month. This is due to the lack of events taking place at this time. I was trying to write this in a more formal format, but I just can’t right now, I’m sort of strapped for time. Two clients, in particular, have asked for me to attend a dinner with them, It’s in about two hours and on the far end of Manehatten. She insists that I attend, saying it was for the best. They also suggested that I relay everything that happens back to you, I have a feeling you’ll be a major topic of tonight's conversation. Prim Hemlines and Trenderhoof are both quite excited for this table talk, they’ve got something coming up and they need my help. So naturally, I’ll be keeping a close ear on their intentions. If I remember correctly, Trenderhoof is one of those stallions you lusted for, right? How is the business in Ponyville going? Do you need any help up there? Because I’d like to come back and visit Ponyville again. It’s been awhile since I’ve left Manehatten, and these brown and gray walls and buildings are starting to get to me. I’d like to visit that Apple orchard you were talking about last time I was there. I hadn’t gotten a chance to visit it. I also wanted to thank you for delivering that letter I sent to you. It meant more to me than you could possibly imagine. Manager of Manehatten’s Carousel Boutique, Coco Pommel Author's Note Sorry it's so short :O I got the point of the dinner across though I wanted to also show that she's not the greatest at writing business letters. :3 Remember you're reading a letter FROM Coco Pommel. //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/12/1228 Dear, Coco Pommel //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/12/1228 Dear, Coco Pommel Dear, Coco Pommel Well I’m glad to hear that you don’t go to too many clubs. Perhaps when we both get some free time, we can go to V3; Vinyl Scratch’s club. I mean, I don’t go to clubs... but I do enjoy Vinyl’s music and I hear her club is pretty high class. I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t just go there, have a drink and a bite to eat, enjoy the music and each others company. My main reason for not going to clubs is because the ones here in Ponyville are generally not the safest of places. Filled with young, sick-minded, sex-driven children; I tend to get a lot of injured ponies in my hospital from bar fights and such. There was once when this young stallion came in with a fractured leg, missing fur, and well, some other injuries. He also had a concussion from having a pool stick broke across the back of his head. Apparently it was because he’s gay that his best friends elder brother attacked him. No other reasoning other than the elder brother was drunk and wanted to fight someone, and with an already heated relationship, he went for the younger pony with no mercy. Poor guy. So, I tend to try and avoid bars and clubs, though there is one bar here in town I go to, simply because none of the younger punks in town ever go to it. Generally, I go there and just visit with whoever else is there. Filthy Rich is often there too, I’m pretty sure he has a thing for me, but he’s a nice guy and hasn’t said or done anything to move on his feelings. Well, that is if he has any for me. Filthy and I often talk about his daughter’s most recent behaviors. His daughter, Diamond Tiara, seems to be the local troublemaker of the fillies in town, and sadly, I’d agree. Though, in recent years, she’s really grown up and isn’t as much of a thorn in the hoof for everypony in town. I think I got on a bit of a ramble there, didn’t I? As for the wedding, it was between Fluttershy and Big Macintosh Apple. Big Mac is one of the heirs to Sweet Apple Acres though I’m sure you already knew that. It was a pretty spectacular event. I thought you’d attended it, but I guess I was wrong. They held the ceremony outside in a nice little clearing in the apple orchard, it was so blissful! The two of them have been spending so much time together! It’s so adorable. Both of them are lucky to have each other. And don’t worry about a short letter, sometimes we’re both short on time. I just recently got off work and have nothing else to do, though, I am kind of tired - probably why I’m rambling so much. I do hope to see you when you come to Ponyville next, and I hope Rarity accepts your offer. If not, I could always stop by her shop and ask about you, see where that goes. Perhaps she’ll pick up a hint without me blatantly tell her about us. I think I’m going to go to bed now, I’ve got to wake up early tomorrow to get some shopping done before work. Hopefully, I don’t get called in on an emergency. Good night, Coco. May Luna guard your dreams! ~Joy Redheart //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/15/1228 Salutations, My dear, Coco //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/15/1228 Salutations, My dear, Coco Salutations, My dear, Coco It's unfortunate that business has diminished there. Though, I do hope that dinner with Prim Hemlines and Trenderhoof yielded some favorable results. What were their propositions? Hopefully something mutually beneficial. Also darling, how did you even hear of my relations with Trenderhoof? Please keep that to yourself from now on. What had happened between him and I is of little importance. That aside, I could use some help here in Ponyville. Can you be in town by the first? Princess Twilight Sparkle is throwing her mother and father a beautiful ball in honor of their years together. It's their 25th anniversary and from what I can tell most, every pony will be there. (I blame Pinkie Pie) I know she invited her brother, Prince Shining Armor and his wife, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. Which means there will be delegates from the Crystal Empire there. I would imagine that means some Crystal Ponies will be there. Perhaps some of their more prestigious tailors. I’ve also heard rumor of Princess Celestia and her sister making an appearance. Anyways, I imagine I'll need your help to get all the orders made in time. I must say, fantastic timing on your part, my dear. With this letter you’ve sent me, I mean. Beautiful timing, I was beginning to stress rather or not I’d have to get help from the girls. I want to ask of you to help me make dresses for those who are going to attend. I also ask that you come with me to the ball and help me find any pony with connections. There will surely be some business opportunities there. Considering I was the one to prepare Princess Cadance’s coronation mane style. Oh! I almost forgot Lady Redheart was here just the other day asking about you. I imagine she may be expecting your arrival. Though I would suggest keeping your relationship out of public's eye. Especially if you plan to attend the ball, there will be a lot of reporters and journalists there. See you soon, Rarity Author's Note Herpity Derpity Derp Derp, Apparently I accidently sent a letter from Coco to Coco, it's been corrected now, from Rarity to Coco. Anyways ^^ Question; Should I create a spin off story where the letters take place along side a first/third (whichever you choose) story to this! :D otherwise, you'll be hearing about all the excitement through letters after the excitement has passed. //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/19/1228 Hello again, Mrs. Rarity //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/19/1228 Hello again, Mrs. Rarity Hello again, Mrs. Rarity, The dinner with Prim and Trender went well, Trenderhoof is curious to peek into the life of a seamstress while Prim holds you and I in high regards after her last experience with us, so she wants me to make some dresses for her and allow him to sit in and watch, ask questions, and perhaps help. Personally, this doesn’t sound too good for us, though Prim is offering me one hundred and fifty bits for each dress I produce. While at the same time, Sir Hoof is willing to pay us twenty bits an hour just to allow him to sit and watch the dress making process. I don’t think he grasped the concept of how long it takes to make a single dress, especially as an earth pony. Prim would prefer you to come to town and be her shining example for him. Would you, please? I’d enjoy the help. Oh! And we agreed that there is no set time for this just yet, Prim said she would contact you directly, meaning she will be visiting Ponyville before too long. (Not entirely sure if this letter beat her there or not… But at least, I tried to warn you!) I want to surprise Joy by showing up, so I’ll gladly come down at the end of this week. See you soon. For now, anything she and I do or say will stay behind closed doors. I don’t want the public to know and neither does she. You’re the only pony in all of Equestria who knows our secret. I just can’t wait to get there now! I’m so excited! ~Coco Pommel Author's Note Okay, sorry that I haven't been updating, I've been debating on what to do for this, and actually, I think you guys will very much enjoy the 10th chapter of this story. Here's a hint: It won't be a letter. //-------------------------------------------------------// Under the Light of Luna's Moon (Special) //-------------------------------------------------------// Under the Light of Luna's Moon (Special) "Alright, Darling. You've been in there for entirely too long. Aren't you done yet?" Rarity questioned from beyond the bathroom door. "I... I'm done." I said, trying to sound confident as I looked myself over once more. I just finished changing into the dress Rarity had made me. The skirt swept across the floor, barely an inch above my hooves, as I spun taking a good look at myself. The dress was a snug fit, a sleeveless white gown. Pleasant ice blue lace was woven into the dresses edges and along its sides, swirling and spreading like vines along my ribs. The skirt was just as elegantly designed, with frozen flowers blooming along its frigid edge. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I turned and opened the door. Almost immediately Rarity gasped. "Coco! You look absolutely gorgeous!" I blushed and looked at the floor, "Thank you, Rarity." Rarity wove her hoof, beckoning me towards her. "It's time we joined the party. I can hear the music starting!" "Okay, Rarity." I took a few shaky steps towards her, trying to keep myself calm. Rarity just smiled at me, "There's no need to be worried, my dear. Take a deep breath and find your confidence." I nodded, closed my eyes, and slowly took a breath. When I exhaled, I could feel a calmness spread through my tense muscles. "Okay," I said with a smile. Rarity shared my smile and opened the door. I followed her out into one if the hallways of Princess Twilight Sparkles castle. We followed the music through the castles glistening crystal halls until finally coming to the music's source. The room that opened below us was enormous! We followed the balcony around the edge of the room and continued down the stairs. Princess Sparkle approached us as we came to the bottom of the stairs. "Good afternoon, Coco Pommel, it's great to see you again!" "I'm grateful to be here, Princess." I said, bowing to her. "No need to bow." said Rarity, touching a hoof to my shoulder. I stood straight and nodded, seeing the awkward princess shy away at the gesture before glancing around the room. I followed her gaze. There were so many ponies here! Finally my eyes caught the mare I had been seeking. In a corner of the room, near a window stood two mares, one was a white earth pony with a pink mane. The other was a mint green with a blue and white mane. "Darling? You with us?" Rarity asked, breaking into my thoughts. I looked back at her and the princess. "Oh, yes. Uh... What was it?" Twilight smiled, "I was asking if you were enjoying your stay so far. Are you?" "Ooh! Yes, I've been a bit nervous, but it's nothing important." I nodded, reassuring myself before I continued. "If you could excuse me, I've someone to speak with." I said but waited for Princess Sparkle to nod and allow it. When she did, I quickly gave her my forgiveness before making my way across the room. Joy was wearing a black dress that was trimmed with a bright, rosy red. It suited her, but it didn't suit the party happening around her. Most ponies wore bright colors mostly whites and pinks. She stuck out like a sore hoof. As I approached, Joy turned her head but didn't say anything. Finally I got close enough to speak but no one said anything, until finally the mare she had been speaking with poked her with a hoof, "Huh, Redheart, you still here?" Redheart just continued to stare at me. Feeling nervous I looked at the mare she had been talking to, she wore a white dress that had a very light baby bluish tint to it. She sighed and waved a hoof in front of Redheart, who finally snapped out of her trance. "Whaaat!?" She asked turning to look at her friend. Her friend laughed, "You left Equestria there for a minute." "I did?" She looked back at me and then back to her friend, "oh..." "Is this the one you were telling me about?" Asked Redheart's friend. She giggled as Redheart hesitated. She stood there for a moment staring at me before she turned to Lyra and gave a curt nod. Lyra smiled in return and stepped forward, "I'm Lyra Heartstrings, pleasure to meet you." I hesitated as I remembered the letter regarding this mare. "I... Coco Pommel, it's nice to meet you too." Finally Redheart turned to me and smiled. "And now, is one of those times when I feel like I could use a drink. Join me?" "I second that notion!" Lyra cheer happily starting towards the bar. "Drinks are free tonight." She said passing me by. I shrugged and followed them to the bar. A drink would probably make this situation a bit more manageable. Redheart was the first to take a seat and Lyra sat to her left and I sat to her right. "Some Apple's Ale please." Lyra told the bartender as he stepped in front of us. The bartender nodded, and began making the drinks. Redheart looked at me, "I'm so glad you made it." I smiled, "I'm happy to be here." "Okay, you two are obviously at a loss for words." Lyra paused and took a drink as soon as they landed in front of us. "The two of you need to loosen up a bit, be friends!" I blushed but Redheart smiled then laughed, "I guess you're right Lyra." She turned to her drink, "it's just that I haven't dated anyone in a very long time. Not since I was really young." I smiled as she took her first drink. "Don't let it bother you, we're in the same cart. I haven't dated anyone..." Both of them looked at me. Lyra looked as if she were ready to laugh, "wait, so does that mean you're still a... Never mind, anyways, it just means you two are even better for each other!" "Keep it down, Lyra, we don't want everyone here knowing..." Said Redheart, as her cheeks turned a little red. "Well, it's true. Neither of you have dated anyone in a pretty long time. I kind of envy you two right now." Lyra said. "Then again you'd sleep with anyone who has more than two shots in them." Redheart retorted, looking sidelong at her friend. My expectations were dashed when Lyra started laughing again. "Hey! You know I wouldn't do... Okay maybe... But still! You two are lucky! It's a rarity for sure." I chuckled, the image of Rarity just popping up next to them having some witty comment to add... I took a drink and washed the thought away. "I think we're lucky, but let's not spoil it with its recognition. Redheart... you said you've dated someone once before, what happened?" She turned to me and her smile faltered a little. "Well, while in Med School, there was a stallion I studied with, but I don't remember his name now, but we hit it off shortly after we started school. There was no fire in the relationship. The occasional date and the ever so rare nights we spent together. I left him after about five months." She took a drink, as if to punctuate her story. I just nodded and took a drink. "Well, I'm glad you're here now," I said with a smile. Lyra slapped her hoof off the top of the counter. "You two are so boring! You know that right? All orderly and situated in your ways. Well, I spy with my little eye, a pair of purple ponies." Redheart and I both followed her line of sight, she was staring two light purple pegasi who were walking towards the bar. I watched as Lyra leave us and take a seat next to the two mares. "Who are they?" I asked leaning towards Redheart. She took a drink. "They're locals, part of the Ponyville weather team. See the one with the short mane? That's Flitter, the other is Cloudchaser." She smiled as she watched them. "Everyone thinks they're twins, but they aren't. Flitter is almost two years younger and has a different father. So, they're half sisters. Either way, they have quite the reputation." “How so?” I asked feeling a little curious. Redheart smiled, “Well, they have a reputation as being major party ponies. Though the parties they throw are a bit more… creative.” She laughed. “In other words, they have sex. Lots of it at that.” I blushed and nodded. “Oh… So is Lyra…” “Yep.” She tilted her head and looked at me. “I really am glad you came tonight, I was hoping after the ceremony and such finishes off and everyone starts to leave, perhaps we could go for a walk.” I smiled and took a drink of my cider. “I’d like that.” Taking another small sip, “How long have you and Lyra known each other?” She hesitated, pondering the question. “I suppose I’ve known her for roughly fifteen years now… I’m not sure, could be less. I know I first met her while I was still in school.” Redheart took a drink, “Did you attend any university after your primary studies were over?” I sighed and looked to my drink for an answer, “No, actually I was already tailoring before I finished Primary. So I already had a job at a small cleaning and ironing shop in south Manehatten. Eventually Siri came along and offered me a job as her secretary. Nothing too exciting. I’m still surprised I managed to graduate the first time, I don’t think I could manage going to any University.” “Well, you’re doing what you love, right? So why should it matter if you’ve gone to a big school or not.” Redheart said as she placed a hoof on my back and gently ran it through my fur and mane. I looked up to her and smiled. “Thanks, I do love my job and working for Rarity does pay well. Though I don’t really want to remain stuck in Manehatten for the rest of my life. I enjoy traveling too… And Manehatten holds some fairly dark memories I wish to forget.” “Well, I’d start by talking to Rarity. She’s bound to know of some way to help you.” I sighed and took a drink, “There’s a problem though. I’d like to just move to Ponyville or even Canterlot, but I still have obligations to take care of back in Manehatten before anything can be changed…” “Life is an adventure, right? So why not have an adventure. To tartarus with the consequences. Rarity’ll be there to help and so will I.” Redheart said with a smile as she continued to rub my back gently. I smiled and closed my eyes, enjoying the soothing feeling of her hoof. Something as simple as her touch was enough to smooth out the anxious edge I’d developed throughout the night. (The alcohol was probably helping too.) To Tartarus with the consequences. I opened my eyes and took a small drink. As I sat the glass back down, I turned towards her and wrapped one hoof around her neck, pulling her closer to me and pressing my lips against hers. They were soft, a lot softer than I had expected. After a second that seemed to last an eternity, I could feel a small smile pressing against my lips before she returned my kiss. I felt her hoof gently touch my cheek before sliding down to rest on my shoulder. Redheart pulled away and smiled again. “Well, that was unexpected.” I blushed and looked into my drink, Crap! How many ponies saw that! How many of them will know Redheart? What will that do or say to her later? What will they say about us amongst themselves... what if this gets back to Manehatten. "You okay?" Redheart asked me quietly. I turned up at her searching her eyes for a clue of how to feel. I saw nothing but happiness with a glint of fear. "I'll be fine." I glanced up at Princess Twilight Sparkle and smiled. "We should join the next dance." I said after a pause. Redheart passively nodded as she turns her attention to the couples already on the dance floor. "Okay." Looking at them all, I could easily spot a few recognizable faces, including Rarity and her date alongside Cheerilee and Big Mac. I smiled as their happy faces came into view. As the song came to an end the couples separated and dispersed but no song began. Instead, Princess Twilight Sparkle took a spot in the center of the dance floor. "Attention everyone. May I have everyone's attention." The room went deathly quiet as everyone's attention focused on the princess. "Now, as many of you know. This party is for my parent’s twenty-fifth anniversary! Twilight Velvet, Night Light! Please come here." Two ponies - one of which wore a beautiful white dress, and the other wearing a black tuxedo - walked over and stood near the princess. Twilight looked as if she were ready to cry as she hugged them. They stood and talked for a moment before Twilight cleared her throat and her parents moved to stand in front of her while Cadance and Shining Armor spoke to the two of them, afters whispers and hugs were exchanged, the two of them took their positions just behind Twilight. "Night Light," Twilight started, looking at her father. "Twilight Velvet," She continued as turned her head to her mother. "You two have been married for twenty-five years now. You both have lived and cared for one another without breaking yours vows and without forgetting the love you both solemnly swore all those years ago under Celestia's sun." Twilight smiled as whispers rose from the crowd and Twilight Velvet began to cry. From where we stood, her smile was evident. After Velvet regained her composer, Twilight continued. "Here in my Castle under the Luna's moonlight, I stand before you to witness and record the reinstatement of your vows. Night Light. Do you wish to continue your pledge to care for and love this mare for the remainder of yours days? Are you willing to protect and love her with everything you are?" "I have and always will. Yes, I do." Night Light answered. A strong emotional depth echoing in his tone. Twilight turned to her mother. "Twilight Velvet. Do you wish to continue living by the pledge to care for and love this stallion who stands before you? Are you willing to stand by his side and care for him in sickness and in health, to love and to hold in the storms to come?" "Forever and always." Twilight Velvet choked out trying hard to keep her composure. "May the magic you share grow stronger with every day to come." Twilight said with a grin. Her horn began to glow before a bolt flew into the air, exploding into the shape of a heart overhead. Night Light and Twilight Velvet stepped closer together, their horns touching for a moment, letting their magic dance together before taking to the air and exploding into light purple and dark blue stars with the princess's heart. After a moment the two shared their kiss for a moment before they embraced each other for a long moment as the crowd cheered for them. We could see Princess Twilight talk to her brother and sister-in-law for a moment before the two made their way out of the room through a set of double doors. After a moment or two passed they reentered the room followed an enormous seven-layered white and pink frosted cake which was being pushed by Pinkie Pie. They led the cake to the center of the room, where everyone could see it. The room fell quiet once more - forgive a few whispers. Pinkie held out a cake cutter for Night Light. Him and Twilight Velvet used their magic to to cut each other a slice of cake. Pinkie Pie began to move the cake off towards an empty area near the concessions table. Cadance and Shining Armor helped pass cake out to ponies who were lining up for some of it. I looked over just in time to see a grinning Redheart wrapping a hoof around my foreleg and dragging her off the stool towards the cake line. "Let's go!" “Okay, okay! No need to drag me.” I said pulling my leg free so I could walk properly. Redheart and I dipped and slipped around other ponies until we got to the end of the line. My Celestia! I hope we get some of it. "She didn't have to be so mean about it." The voice breaking me from my thoughts. It was one of the fillies in front of Redheart and me. The purple mane pegasus was next to speak, she seemed aggravated, "I can't believe them. This is a new low for her and Silver Spoon." Looking at the three of them, I recognized Rarity's sister, Sweetie Belle. She had her hoof around her friends shoulder. "Don't let them get to you Applebloom. My sister can fix the dress for you later." I looked at Redheart, who just shook her head. I decided not to speak. Applebloom spoke instead, "That doesn't help me now! Diamond Tiara ruined it. She ruins everything!" The pegasus ' wings buzzed against her dress as she jumped towards Applebloom, landing with a hoof across her shoulders. "Look on the bright side. We're almost to the front of the line. We can ask Pinkie for some extra cake for you. Sound good?" Applebloom just smiled and nodded, sniffling a little bit. "Thanks, Scoots." When the three little ones reached the cake, they asked Cadance something but she shook her head and apologized. The three young ponies were about to walk away when Redheart stepped over and stopped them. "Excuse me, girls. Can you wait one moment?" When they nodded and Redheart asked for two pieces, one for her and one for me. I could see Sweetie Belle looking at me, and whisper to Scootaloo. Cadance passed a plate with a slice of cake to Redheart while Shining Armor passed me a slice. I looked back at the children, and they looked at us, anticipation twinkling in their eyes. Redheart turned to them and bent down as she spoke. "Applebloom, this is for you. Don't let a bully ruin your night. Okay?" She spoke so softly that I could barely hear her whispers. Applebloom accepted the cake while Sweetie Belle took it in her magic. "Thank ya, Ms. Redheart. I'll try ta not let it bother me or ruin my night." "Good. Tell your sister about them it. Maybe she'll talk to Filthy Rich about his daughter's behavior." Redheart smiled at them pausing for a moment, "Have a wonderful evening girls, and remember. Best behaviors." With that, Redheart stood straight and nodded to me with a wink. I blushed a little and heard a snicker come from the fillies. I glanced at them and only darkened fifty shades more. I quickly looked away and directed self towards an empty table. Redheart wasn't far behind me. She sat down next to me, our backs were against the wall, and we were facing the party. I stuck my fork into the piece of cake I had gotten. It was white cake with pink icing on one side and the top. A fluffy cloud of icing along the edge between the iced sides. (Being a fan of sweets, I started at the side with all the icing.) Taking another bite of the cake, I couldn’t help but enjoy every savory second I could. “Is that cake that good?” I looked up to see Redheart snickering at me. “What?” I asked, “It’s good.” She continued snickering, “Well, I hope you enjoy it.” She looked around, “Looks like Rarity spotted us because here she comes.” I followed her gaze to spot the beautiful unicorn strutting straight towards us. I took another bite of my cake and it felt like an orgasmic explosion of sweetness. I could feel a moan wishing to rumble in my throat but I stifled it. As Rarity took a seat across from us, she looked at me and looked as though she could burst into laughter. “Hello Coco, Redheart. How is the night going for the two of you?” I looked at my cake, then up to Rarity. I swallowed my bite and slid the cake over to Redheart. “You can have some.” Turning my attention to Rarity, “And yes. The night is going great.” I smiled glancing at Redheart as she took a bite of the cake. I couldn’t help but giggle a little as she visibly reacted to it’s flavors, knowing exactly how she felt right now. Rarity saw it too and laughed a little, “Good cake I presume?” her smirk and my giggle making Redheart blush a little. “Pinkie Pie is possibly the best baker in all of Equestria! But this cake is easily amongst her best desserts ever served.” Redheart just nodded, enjoying her bite. “Hey, Rarity. We saw your sister and her friends while we were in line.” I said quietly, trying to string together a sentence. “Her friend’s dress was a little torn up.” Rarity’s face changed to stone. “Don’t tell me it was Diamond Tiara.” I didn’t answer but instead nodded. Redheart slid the slice back to me and I took another orgasmic bite. It was like chewing on a cloud! Redheart chirped in, “They seemed pretty upset but I shared my cake with little Applebloom. Hopefully, their night will improve.” Rarity nodded, “I’ll take care of it tomorrow. How bad was her dress torn?” Rarity asked curiosity twinkling in her eyes. Taking another bite of the cake, I frowned at the realization that we were almost gone. “Nothing terrible, a torn seam in the shoulder, and a few rips along the sleeves and back. It can be repaired tomorrow before I leave for home.” Redheart reached over and pulled the remaining cake away from me. “Mine.” She winked and ate the last piece of cake before looking at Rarity. “So what happened to your date, Rarity?” “My wh- Oh… OH! He had to leave early. Unfortunate business called him just after the cake came out.” She shook her head before smiling again. “I’ll probably be leaving before too long, but you two need to be a little more careful. I saw that kiss earlier.” We both turned red at that. Rarity just laughed before waving. “Have a good night you two.” As she left Twilight’s voice rang out. “I assume many of you are still eating the cake and other o’dourves. Well, I hope you can turn your attentions to the dancefloor.” A small cheer rose as Twilight Velvet and Night Light took a position in the center of the floor. “For their second, first dance, couples may join if they wish.” Twilight said before queueing the music. A slow song began to play and Twilight’s parents began to dance. The lighting shifted and dimmed, as purple, white and blue lights reflected off crystals from above. Redheart scooted closer to me before wrapping her hoof around my shoulders. “Should we join them?” She whispered in my ear. “In a moment,” I answered, leaning my head against her shoulder. “I don’t want to attract any more attention.” “Alright,” she said as we watched and waited. Her head against the top of mine. As other couples ventured out into the dance floor, Redheart nudged my shoulder before standing up and taking my hoof to lead me away from our table. Without saying a word, she wrapped her hooves around around my waist. I had no choice but to put my hooves around her neck to keep my balance. Blushing a little, I smiled and pulled her closer to me. “I’m glad tonight finally happened,” Redheart whispered. “I am too,” I answered before kissing her forehead. //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/04/1228 Dear, Joy Redheart //-------------------------------------------------------// 03/04/1228 Dear, Joy Redheart Dear, Joy Redheart Oh wow... that’s so touching. I can’t believe Vinyl of all ponies would do that! I’ve only seen Lyra once, but that was because she visited the store looking for a dress for some music convention here in Manehatten. Vinyl, however, is one of my favorite artists, but I prefer Octavia Melody’s work. I’ll listen to Vinyl’s music whenever I’m cleaning or even at a club. Yes, I do go to clubs once in a great while, just for a drink or two every once in awhile. I used to go there when I wanted to be around other ponies. Even when I wasn’t talking to anyone… I haven’t been in any since I first mailed you. As for my schedule, I generally work six days a week from nine in the morning to eight at night. Since I live just above the store, I can set my own schedule and clients know they can come and find me whenever they need me. No matter how early in the morning or late at night, I like being available to those who need my help. I’ll be sending a letter to Rarity after this, asking her if she needs any assistance in Ponyville. I doubt she does, seeing as she’s only ever requested help twice. Once, when Celestia was holding a special event in honor of the Apple Family’s farm. I think it was for fifty years of success. I’m sure you remember that there were hundreds of ponies there, from all over Equestria. We met on my second visit, do you remember that wedding? I don’t know who was getting married that day, but it must have been an important wedding... Who was getting married? Just curious, I suppose. Sorry for being such a short letter, I’ve got to write one for Rarity and I’m short on time. If this works out, I’ll be sure to bring you a pink rose. Can’t wait to hear from you again! Yours truly, Coco Pommel
