Episode 1: Pilot
TIME: 7:15 A.M. EST
SETTING: Inside the kitchen of the Matthews' family in Philadelphia
DATE: September 21, 1993
The home of the Matthews, a fine place. The house is an ordinary modern home like all the rest of the homes around the block, surrounding the house.
Inside the living room of the house, we see a little girl playing with her dolls. In the kitchen, we see the mother and father of this exquisite family. The mother prepares a fine breakfast for the family to eat: smoked bacon, eggs, and best of all: pancakes. The father kisses his lovely wife on the cheek, grabs today's newspaper from the kitchen counter on one hand, and a cup of brisk coffee on the other hand. He directs his way to the dining table, and takes a seat on the eastern chair of the table.
Inside the dirty bedroom of the two brothers who "kind of" get along, we see a ton of clothes around the floor, as a sign of the the brothers' neatness. We also see the older brother holding a squirt gun, which is full of water for its ammunition. The older brother points the gun at his younger brother (who is fast asleep, lying face forward) and takes a few seconds to aim it directly at the boy's face. Within a matter of time, the older brother takes a step back, and fired a small squirt of water onto the sleeping boy's face.
"Squirt."
It didn't work. The boy moved a little from his bed, but didn't wake up.
Test two. The brother decides to fire a little more to the left. He goes to the left side of his brother's bed and fires the gun once more at the face of the sleeping boy; still no sign of the boy waking up.
"Squirt. Squirt."
Take three. The brother decides its time to use up ALL of the ammunition of the squirt gun. The brother who's acting like a soldier fighting in the war right now, fires all of the water at the sleeping boy's face.
"SQUIRT! SQUIRT! SQUIRT!"
Success! The boy was startled from the amount of water on his face. He tried to escape the wet blanket for awhile, during the taunt of the older brother.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!"
The younger brother escaped the clutches of the wet blanket and got off the bed that was partially wet. He was angry at his older brother right now. He gave an angry look to his brother and yelled at him.
"Eric," the wet boy yelled, "how could you do this to me? I'm your brother for Pete's sake. Oh what am I gonna do now? Its the first day of sixth grade and I'm all soaking wet!" he went to the bathroom and grabbed a towel from the hanger on the back door.
When he got back from his dry off, the older brother laughed at him very quietly.
"Well, at least the good news is that you don't have to take a shower." Eric replied. He laughed once more. He walked towards the closet to get a fresh pair of clothes for his first day of his sophomore year in John Adams School.
"Eric, this isn't funny. Today is the day that I'm finally starting middle school. The big number six! Thanks to you, people are gonna be like, 'Hey. It's the wet kid! HA! HA!' I need to make a good impression on the other students so they'll like me. If I don't make a good impression, I'll make a bad reputation throughout the enitre middle school year; and that reputation is gonna continue within high school. Eric, I NEED to be popular." he joined his brother in his pick of his clothes for school as well.
"Relax, Cory. Everything's gonna be fine." Eric said. He tried to make his brother, Cory, feel better. But Cory kept on babbling on how he needs to get a good reputation.
"No. It'snot gonna be fine. I need to look good in front of my teachers, students, and especially the girls."
Eric laughed. He said, "Oh Cory, Cory, Cory, Cory... you're too young to get girls. Once you've hit your maturity level, you'll be old enough to get a girl. But for now, you'll be staying as the Devil's Child of this family."
"I thought Morgan was the Devil's Child of this family."
"Dream on squirt. Dream on."
Cory snarled at Eric.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny, Eric. We all know YOU are the D.C. of this family."
"No I'm not!" Eric gave a shocking look, "I for one, am the angel of this family, who helps this family with its mortgage and food supply. I am the the nicest, kindest, and most charming boy in ALL of Philadelphia."
"Isn't that dad?"
"Quiet half breed! Now bow before your master."
"As you wish, "master of Philadelphia"."
Cory knelled in front of Eric's legs. Eric smiled at this special occasion as he looked down at his slave. Cory felt stupid for doing this. He ought to do something fast. Cory examined Eric's legs for a mement to see if he could trip him, but that wouldn't work. He looked up and saw Eric's stomach very slightly from inside his shirt. Then he had an idea to get back at Eric. Cory looked up at his master and whispered, "You wanna know something?"
"Ya, what is it?" Eric whispered back at his brother. There was a moment of silence. Cory slowly rose up from his knelling position and was back on his two stiff legs.
"You have a big bruise on your stomach." Cory slowly said.
"A bruise? Wh- OWW!"
Cory had punched Eric right in the stomach.
The pain that was possessing Eric right at the moment Cory had punched him at his weak spot. His pain spread from his stomach to his entire front body.
"Dah! Dow! Gah!" Eric grunted out loud.
The plan had worked. Cory had successfully accomplished his revenge plan. He stood tall and proud in front of his suffering brother. Then his confidence turned from a ten to a zero when his father came up the the room and checked up on his two sons.
He was startled.
"What the heck happened here!?" the father burst out.
"It isn't what it looks like." Cory said back to his father.
"It's exactly what it looks like. I see you all wet and Eric suffocating from a punch. Cory... did you punch your brother?"
Cory was busted.
"What? No." he blurted out.
"Yes." Eric squealed from the floor. He got up but continued to cover his bruise from his father.
"Cory. I am fairly disappointed at you. You are in serious trouble when you get back to school, young man."
"But dad-"
"No buts. Now, I want you and your brother to clean up this pile of clothes, put it all back NEATLY where it belongs, get dressed, and get your butts down here for breakfast."
The father marched out of the room and slammed the door in front of his own sons.
"What... just happened?" Cory wondered.
"The element of reverse psychology, my good servant." Eric replied. Queer. It sounds like Eric did take the punch after all. He took his hand away from his stomach and revealed that he didn't take the punch at all. He laughed at his little brother.
"Cory, you just fell into my little trap. I faked the reaction out loud, making sure that dad would come and check on us. And boy, oh boy, did it ever work."
"You..."
"Shush! You can't do anything to change the mind of your father. He'll trust me and only ME! Got that?"
Cory was ashamed. He said back to his brother very slowly and cautiously, "Yes Eric. I got it."
"Good. Now, let's get dressed and see the punishment you will receive thanks to yours truly."
