Princess Cadence is curious about the northern mountain range. Every one of her subjects say the mountains were cursed because of its strange day and night cycle, the monstrous creatures roaming within and beyond the region and the lack of food to eat.

Than there are the stories that intrigued her; a race of ponies that live and thrive within the mountains. She believes there are just foals' tales for scaring the young not to go to the mountains, but she does have a sense of being watched whenever she gets near the towering, rocky range.
