Twilight tried to keep up with Rainbow dash. She was flying around all excited. "I can't wait for you to meet the Wonderbolts!" She said enthusiastically. "I just KNOW you will love them all!" Twilight just grumbled and tried to not lose sight of Rainbow dash.
"I'm just happy to make you happy." Twilight said. A few minutes later they reached the Wonderbolt academy. Rainbow dash unexpectedly stopped causing Twilight to crash into her! "Oi! Watch it Rainbow dash!"
"Sorry." She said sheepishly. Twilight just grumbled and looked around.
"Alright. Where are these Wonderbolts?" Rainbow dash looked around and spotted them.
"There!" She pointed to some blurry figures on the ground.
"Rig-Whoaaa!" Rainbow dash darted right by Twilight casing her to fall and tumble into one of the Wonderbolts who had been talking to a group of ponies. All the ponies standing there ran out of the way.The moment was already awkward enough but she had landed right on top of him. She blushed and quickly flew off of him. Soarin grumbled.
"Hey! Watch where you-" Then he realized that he was talking to a princess. "P-Princess Twilight! Im very sorry for yelling at you!" He said blushing. Twilight giggled.
"Its okay. And you are?"
"Soarin." He said.
"Where are the other Wonderbolts?" Rainbow dash asked impatiently.
"On break." He replied. Rainbow dash grumbled. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"How long will they be?" Rainbow dash asked.
"I don't know. Could be hours. They love to take especially long naps." Rainbow dash moaned.
"We can visit another time." Twilight said. Rainbow dash sighed an nodded. Twilight turned to Soarin. "Is that okay?" She asked.
Soarin nodded. Rainbow dash grumbled yet again. "I wanted you to see them TODAY!" She complained.
"You should be happy I even agreed to this." Twilight said. Rainbow dash sighed.
"Fine. But you have to pinkie promise!"
"Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." She crossed her heart and put her hoof on her eye. Rainbow dash smiled. Then Twilight turned around to see the crazy party pony. "How did you even get here?!" She yelled. Pinkie ignored her question and glared at her.
"You can NEVER break a pinkie promise!" She yelled dramatically. "Never ever..." She then slowly receded into a bush.
"Pinkie we know you are in the bush." Twilight said.
"No you don't!" She shouted back. Twilight sighed and flew up.
"Let's go home." Rainbow dash joined her in the sky and together the two ponies flew off back to Ponyville. "Bye!" She shouted to Soarin. He waved his hoof to her in response. Twilight then saw that Rainbow dash was way ahead of her. "Rainbow dash hold on!" She yelled as she tried to keep up.
When she got home she ran inside and began hunting for a book about love in her new library. When spike came in she ran up to him. "Spike! I need you to find me a book about love!" Spike looked up at her confused.
"Why do you need a book about love?" He asked.
Twilight said,"I think I have a crush on Rainbow dash's crush!" She yelled. This only confused Spike even more.
"So how is a book on love supposed to help you?" Twilight groaned.
"Because reasons Spike! Just help me find the bucking book!" Spike was shocked to hear her use foul language. It was obvious she wanted a book on love. He began to search through the books. "FOUND IT!" She yelled. She was holding a magazine.
"Isn't that a magazine?" Spike said.
"Its one of Rarity's magazines. She brings them here all the time. If she trusts them I trust them." She began to flip through the pages until she saw a page that said how to tell if you have a crush on a pony. "Perfect!" She read through the page and moaned. "It can't be true!" She reread the page. "What am I going to do?" She said. Spike sighed.
"You can't always believe magazines." He said.
"Rarity has been subscribed to this magazine for years. If she trusts it them i'm pretty sure what it says is true. And besides, he was pretty cute..."
"Maybe..Tell Rainbow dash?" He said. Twilight glared at him.
"ARE YOU BUCKING INSANE?!? IF I JUST WALKED UP TO HER AND TOLD HER THAT I HAD A CRUSH ON THE PONY SHE HAS LOVED HER ENTIRE LIFE SHE WOULD THROW ME OFF A CLIFF!"
"You could have just said no." He mumbled to himself. Then Spike had an Idea. "I know what you can do!" He said.
"What?" Twilight asked.
"Deal with this on your own. I am going to relax." The little dragon then yawned and went upstairs to the bedroom. "I'm taking a nice long nap."
"Fine! I don't need your help anyway. What do you know about love?" She thought for a moment. "I'll ask Rarity for help! I bet she'll know exactly what to do!" She ran out her door and headed to Rarity's house. As she was running she tripped on a rock and fell in to Rainbow dash. She was the last pony she wanted to see right now. She quickly flew over her and continued running to Rarity's home.
Rainbow dash looked back at Twilight. "She must be really excited about meeting the rest of the Wonderbolts."
Twilight Sparkle trotted towards "la belle boutique," as Rarity had worded it, with beads of sweat forming on her temples.
This was far too hard, even for a mare who had been through so much. Twilight would've never thought she would face it, ever thought it would be a problem.
Romance. Out of all things, Romance. It couldn't have been giant spiders, or pony aliens attacking, or soul sucking demons from Tarturus. It had to be the most dumb topic. Romance.
"I hate you," Twilight thought to her head.
"Why? I though we were friends!"
"Because! You control Heart!"
"Well, it's not my fault exactly," Brain responded.
"Of course it's your fault! You control Heart!" She repeated.
"Heart has a mind of her own .I only control her to keep your blood pumping. Not in general, as in what she thinks or does other than getting your blood moving. Sorry, Twi."
"Well, that's not cool Heart. You shouldn't of made me fall for the stallion who-"
"Twilight dear, who ever are you talking to?"
Twilight turned her head towards the voice. She found Rarity observing her with a bewildered expression.
"Oh hey, Rarity," Twilight blushed out of embarrassment. "I was...um...thinking out loud.Ya know how my mind could get all crazy!" Twilight twirled a hoof by her temple.
"Well, okay. So, what are you doing here, darling?"
"Um...my..." Twilight shifted her hooves in front of her, blushing pink.
"Yes?"
Twilight considered telling Rarity, but Brain decided upon not.
"It's my...moms...birthday...and I need an outfit."
"Wasn't your mother's birthday two months ago?"
Twilight coughed. "No..."
Rarity and Twilight stood in silence, while Twilight awkwardly waited for Rarity to continue. She was no Applejack, but she lied just as terribly.
"Twilight dear, I want truths."
Twilight felt herself getting sweaty, and she began staring at a rock on the floor, reminding her of Maud. Twilight sighed in defeat.
"How about we discuss this inside over some camomile tea?"Rarity suggested, hoping to calm her friend.
"Okay."
They walked into the boutique, and settled in the living room.
"I shall be right back, Twilight. Give me a minute,"
"Okay."
As Rarity disappeared into the kitchen, Twilight decided to look around a bit. A magnificent hat that looked like a bouquet of flowers stood on post, while some new dresses that appeared to be a style of every season stood on racks in a corner. Her gaze soon followed towards a brilliantly designed dress, a calming shade of blue, with golden and silver as accents and swirls. It seemed to be themed of the night. It reminded her of Princess Luna, with it's flowing like silk that adorned the back. It was long and sleek, perfect for a slim pony body. Twilight loved the night, therefore loving the style of the dress.
"It's one of my best works."
Twilight spun around to find Rarity smiling.
"It was inspired by the night."
"I can tell," Twilight stared at it. "It's gorgeous, Rarity."
"Thank you, Twilight."
Rarity set the teapot and teacups on the table, pouring a bit of tea in both.
"Now, tell me everything, tell me this problem. Is it self conscious? Is it dangerous? Is it sad?"
"It's about..."Twilight remained silent for at least three minutes before gathering her courage and saying, "...stallions."
Rarity blinked, staring at Twilight for a minute. She narrowed her eyes, "Really?"
"Yeah..."Twilight was blushing heavily. She sipped her tea so she wouldn't look to awkward.
"Really...you?"
"Yes, I thought we had cleared that."
"Hm. You..."
"Why is it so surprising?" Twilight said slightly irritated.
"I'm sorry, but this is the same as if Rainbow Dash came in asking for advice on fashion."
"Why? "Twilight asked a bit painfully, being reminded of Rainbow Dash.
"Well, I suppose by a mare your standards, and you have been come far much social..." Rarity mumbled away, while she sat grumpily.
"Yes...okay. Now discuss this 'stallion problem'. Go on, I will not dare judge." Rarity propped herself, ready for a long story.
"Well," Twilight hesitated a bit, finally resolving to share her problems.
"Rainbow and I went to Cloudsdale to meet the Wonderbolts, because Rainbow said that they where friends...and so I fell...Soarin catched me...Yadda Yadda, then I looked into his eyes, and everything seemed to stop. I felt myself getting warm, and I felt like everything was... right. I could of been freezing in ice water, you know with Hypothermia and Frostbite, but if he was there, everything would feel perfect. And every time I see him, he looks away, and turns red. But the problem is...there's the problem and..." Twilight stopped going, clearly ashamed.
"Rainbow Dash?" Rarity finished.
"Yes. I don't mean it like that, as of we were competing, more like, I don't want to hurt her, and if she does get hurt, it will be my fault. I don't want that to happen."
"Well, let me ask a few questions." Rarity got a clipboard and a beautiful peacock quill, ready to be a scribe.
"Okay..."
"Number One, upon seeing him, do you feel sweaty? Do feel yourself staring at him? More accurately, his muscles?"
Twilight thought...had she? She had felt sweaty, and she remembered having thoughts about how well built he was.
"I think...I have felt sweaty, but if the staring part ever implied, I dunno."
"Okay..."' Rarity scribbled in her clipboard. "Next question. What do you like about him?"
"Um...well he's really kind, and his techniques give him a mathematical brain on the air." Twilight smiled. "And I love his smile. And his hair, you gotta love his hair. And he's really handsome, I can't resist." Twilight had a dreamy look on her face, and she had that wandering look in her eyes.
"Twilight!"
No response.
"Twilight! Twilight Sparkle!"
Nothing.
"Earth to Twilight!" She waved her hoof in front of her friends face. Nothing.
"Princess Twilight Sparkle the First!"
Nothing.
"TWILIIIIGGGHHHT!" She shook her friend in annoyance. "SNAP OUT OF IT, TWILIGHT!"
"Wha-?"
"Okay, next question," she composed herself back on her seat. "How do you think Rainbow Dash will feel?"
"I-I think..." Twilight hesitated greatly. "She will feel angered and depressed at the same time..." Twilight's eyes swelled up like saucers and she felt tears form.
"Okay, its okay, calm yourself.Last question, okay?" Rarity announced quietly.
"Okay..." she let out a little sniff.
"Would you rather choose a stallion, or your friends?"
"My friends!" Twilight had stopped sobbing upon that question. She seemed more...angry.
"Okay, so you would pick Rainbow Dash over Soarin?'"
"Yes..." Twilight didn't seem convinced of herself. "Oh shoot !Not even friendship is affecting me!"
"Okay, Twilight. You show signs of a major crush. There are five stages of crushes. One, attraction. Two, crush type one. Three, crush type two. Four, major crush, and Five, love."
"What?"
"You nervousness, how you described him...what were you thinking of when you spaced out?"
"Stuff..."
"Like?"
"Him and I."
"That's what I thought."
"Now, you space out, get nervous, and can't decide him over your friends."
"No! My friends are much more important than some Major Crush! I love all of you far too much for..." She slowly faded.
"Well, at this rate, it might be a phase. It will go away. Maybe it's just some of your mare hormones kicking in."
"Um..."
"Don't worry about it.You will feel all these symptoms, but that's normal. It will go away, maximum two weeks."
"Okay."
"Well, would you like more tea?"
"I should get going. I told Spike I will be back by three o' clock."
They both looked at the gilded clock on top of a navy chest of gems. It showed two fifty five.
"Alright," Rarity said. "See you later at Fluttershy's tea party? You should wear something. I got just the outfit for you!"
"Oh no worries, Rarity. I will go as I am."
"At least a simple sundress!"
"I'm good, thank you."
"But I made all of us individual dresses! Well except for Rainbow and Applejack.I made them a jacket. They insisted! I think it would be a good time to wear them.I even made Discord a tux! You know how hard it is to get the measurements of a draconequus?!"
"We'll, if you made them for that matter I suppose I can take mine."
"Perfect! I shall go fetch it!"
Rarity came back five seconds later with a short, flowered yellow dress. It came with a lily for Twilights mane.It was simple, but nice.
"Wow! I love it! Thanks Rarity!"
"Don't mention it," Rarity said, happy that her friend was cheering up.
"I realized your lavender coat suits that shade of yellow harmonically. It was the least I could do after you helped me with Trender."
"But Rarity, I did nothing."
"You and the girls did help me in ways you wouldn't understand," Rarity said with a radiant smile. "Now go, Spikey must be waiting."
"Bye." Twilight gave Rarity a hug, which she returned.
She walked out of the boutique, feeling happy and like everything was just fine.
