"Finally Midnight, you return from your mission given by the princess. How did it fare?" The boat master said to Midnight. The boat masters brown eyes were watching him closely as he sat on his chair, the boat master got on and took the wheel.
"Bad... I have the news to report to her still and I need to make sure her and Timpani are safe while I was gone." Midnight cooly responded, his musky grey mane covering his regal green eyes that had a glazed and tired look in them, he looked worn out but in truth, he was fit from the mission now and could handle any other missions given, even all around Requestria he was known for his legendary skills and was the royal guard of the prince and princess of Requestria.
"Well we best make haste to the tower then shall we? Our water system has not been working for a week so we hope it's fixed now." The boat master said as they pushed out of dock towards the large tower, the trip however was taking longer then they had expected it to be as Midnight tapped his hoof impatiently.
Eventually they reached the tower, looking up at it from the inside, Midnight saw that the workers were busy with the water system which was activated as the doors sealed. "Looks like they got it working now eh?" I said to the boat master.
All he did was shrug and sigh as the water rises slowly but surely.
"Geez they need to fix the water system still so it's back to normal speed." Midnight muttered ever so slightly as he got up off his chair and got off the boat. He headed towards the bridge and as soon as he got halfway across, another pony saw him.
"Midnight!!!" The mare yelled as she ran to me and gripped me in a hug which I returned, her coat was a clean white colour with a rainbow coloured mane as well as rainbow eyes, her voice was sweet and warming to hear and calmed me.
"Hello Timpani, glad to see you are ok." Midnight said with a smile as he kissed her on her forehead ever so lightly, he smiled as he saw her blush which warmed his heart. "I missed you very much Timpani. I promise I won't be gone on a mission that long again." Midnight reassured her calmly.
Timpani smiled at the words and said, "Mother is ready to see you, she is just finishing talking to the spymaster Shining at the moment." Timpani informed him as they started their way up towards the princess, keeping a slow pace.
But as impatient as he was, Midnight speed walked up towards the area with Timpani going ahead of him. "Heh... Your fast Timpani. Go inform her I'm on my way." He told her.
She nodded and ran ahead to inform her, her rainbow mane flowing in the wind which was emitting a sweet, calming aura from it which could calm any pony with a simple sniff of it, her silver hoof cuffs clinked in the distance as she got to the princess and informed her of Midnights arrival.
The princess nodded and went to finish her talk with the spymaster as Midnight neared in to hear the last of the conversation.
"I won't sit idle while my people die from this disease. We will get the cure out to them so no more life's are taken." She said to Shining.
"That won't matter, there is to many infected already and the disease will just start again." Shining said to her.
"I won't stand idle I said, now you should go now and I do not want to hear this again." The princess said as Shining started to leave.
The spymaster was on his way down as he saw him, "Ah Midnight, three days early are you now? Aren't you full of surprises." Shining said as he headed down.
Midnight made his way to the princess and spoke up. "It's good to see you again princess." Midnight said in his standard tone of voice.
"So you have returned Midnight Pulse." She said in a regal tone, "Have you information about the cure?" She questioned him.
Midnight stepped forward and handed her the letter, which she read.
After a while she dropped it. "Not good.. We still need more coins to get it..." She said in a sad tone, then perked up. "Wait, where are all the guards? Who dismissed them!?" She panicked slightly.
"Duck!!" Midnight yelled as he pulled Timpani and the princess down as a bolt sailed over them. Midnight got up and drew his sword and gun as some assassins came for an attacked, Midnight fended the most of them off but one used his magic to lift him into the air while another killed the princess and took Timpani, who he vanished.
"TIMPANI!!!!" Midnight yelled as she vanished with the assassin pony, he was at the verge of tears now.
The second one dropped him and taunted him, "You will never live to see her again!" He laughed as he vanished.
Midnight crawled over to the princess as fast as he could to hear her last words.
"Midnight... Save Timpani and protect her..." She said as she dies.
"Look at this, Midnight murdered the princess!" Shining said who glared at Midnight. "Subdue him." He told another as he leaned in slightly so only Midnight could hear, "Let's just say you were in the wrong place at the right time." He said as another guard bashed Midnight in the head as he collapsed, knocked out.
