Chapters Chapter one: the discovery
What have I done Rainbow dash thought in her head.
Rainbow dash had just found out from the doctor in Ponyville that her "sister" Scootaloo has chronic wing displasium. Which means when she try's to fly her wings will give up on her, no matter how big her wings grow. Even after the equestrian games Rainbow felt sad inside that she is one of the fastest ponies in Ponyville, and Scootaloo would have to watch on the ground. Rainbow couldn't take it for much longer. Every time she saw her she just wanted to fly away so Scootaloo wouldn't have to see her again. But she knew that if she did it would just hurt her even more. So Rainbow just decided to stay in her house and never come out.
After weeks of confusion on where the rainbow pegasus has gone Twilight decides to take matters in her own hooves and flies to town hall where she gathered most of the ponies who occupy Ponyville.
"Attention every pony"-twilight spreads her wings to show her royalty.-"As you may know the pegasus Rainbow dash has gone missing for quite some time, but I ask you to not worry. I will send royal guard to look for her. We will not leave a single cloud unchecked. I promise you we will find her, once we do we will notify all of you as fast as we can." Just as Twilight finished Scootaloo walked up to her. "Is she hiding cause of me?" Tears were running down her face. Twilight saw the fillies distress and tried to calm her down. "No don't worry, she is probably upset about something that happened yesterday" Twilight looked at her with a promising grin. Scootaloo spaced out pondering on what Twilight had said. After a few minutes she finally released something and looked up at her once more and started to break down in tears. "She found out about my condition a few weeks ago, she is hiding cause of me!" With that Scootaloo ran to her scooter and drove away leaving a dust cloud for the crowd to inhale. As she left the crowd of ponies started to cough in disgust one of the stallions called out to Scootaloo "Hey you can't just speed out of here like that!" But what the stallion said was way too far out of ear shot.
Twilight couldn't take it anymore, seeing Scootaloo run off crying like that. So she did what most ponies would do, she flew all over ponyville sky's looking here and there trying to find the rainbow pony. After hours of search she ran into her house, it was dark full of storm clouds. The exterior was getting pulled apart from the wind, the rainbow pool was overflowing to the ground below. Her door was wide open, Twilight could not believe her own two eyes. As the alicorn stepped onto the cloud platform she slowly walked to the door being as careful as possible. Twilight then poked her head in and called for the rainbow pony.
"Rainbow, you in here?" Her voice echoed in the still quiet house, Twilight decided to look around. The house was a complete mess from floor to roof in fact there was no roof just a hole showing Celestia's bright sun shinning above. This time Twilight called even louder.
"Rainbow dash this better not be a prank I'm getting scared." A sudden voice came from the room above it was so quiet she couldn't make it out.
"I-I'm here Twilight." The rainbow Pegasus emerged from above to show that her wings where uncared for, the mane was just knotted and full of dust, she was also skinny and boney. Her eyes were clouded from no food and her wings were missing some feathers. Rainbow tried to make it down to Twilight but she collapsed in front of her gasping for air, water, and food. Full of shock and disbelief
Twilight could not believe what she saw in front of her, she ran to her side scolding her as we'll as crying.
"Y-y-you can't do this to yourself thi-this isn't you wh-why would you do this to yourself!" Twilight couldn't contain herself, she had Rainbows neck and head in one wing and was covering her tears with the other. Rainbow looked at her and replied in a soft weak voice.
"You are right, this isn't me. But I couldn't stand to see the look on Scootaloo's face knowing she could never fly. I-I thought being away from her for one day would clear my mind, but that day turned to two, then four, and now look where I am."-Rainbow gasped for more air-"This would break her heart, I can't let that happen, not to her." Rainbow couldn't hold her eyes open, she slowly let the weight of her head carry her off into sleep. Twilight was terrified to see her friend half dead in her wings, she set her down and ran outside her house and shot a distress spell causing a green flare like light burst in the air. In mer minuets royal guard where at her side checking head to hoof to see where she was hurt. As the guards where looking around. Twilight bursted from fear and stress.
"It's my friend not me! Go in and help her!" Twilight covered her mouth with her hooves, but the guard did not seem to be disturbed by her out burst. They ran in and took Rainbow dash and set her on a carriage that was waiting outside. They set her in the seat in which Twilight was going to sit. One of the guards was shocked by this and spoke to her.
"Your majesty, I'm sorry we can't fit your friend and you on the carrage, so we will drop you off first the-"
"I can fly home myself!" Twilight interrupted the guard. "My friend is in critical condition, she needs help right away!" With that the guards flew out with Rainbow dash heading to Canterlot.

“C’mon Scoots you can do it!” Rainbow Dash called to Scootaloo who was on a cloud 100 feet above Ponyville. Rainbow Dash had just gotten over the fact that scootaloo can’t fly, it left her heart broken knowing her new found little sister couldn’t fly. So she decided to leave her and starve herself. But with the help of Twilight and therapy, she has gotten over that fear and is now back to try and help Scootaloo.
Scootaloo stared down at rainbow dash body shaking not knowing how this will turn out.
“I don’t know about this, can’t we just er you know do it closer to the ground?” Scootaloo yelled down to Rainbow Dash. Now seeing that Rainbow is not backing down, Scootaloo's knees started to shake, then started to sweat, heart pounding. She had never been this high up in her life, now looking down to Rainbow Dash who was even farther from the ground. She felt alone. Scootaloo just wanted to hide in the cloud and never come out again, and so she did.
“Hey squirt I know that you haven't been this high before, but this is the best thing we can do and you will love it!” Rainbow dash was now really excited, hovering over her cloud staring right at her giving her the best encouragement she can do.
“You can do it I believe in you!” Rainbow Dash yelled once more.
Scootaloo finally bottled up her fears, she broke out of her cloud cover breathing in once more as if it was her last, getting a running start. The cloud felt like a mile long. She gave herself courage “come on scootaloo you can do it She thought to herself. Then she ran. Wings flapping, legs running, heart aching, she ran as fast as she could, tears running down her face I can do it I can do it then she jumped..BAM! landed right on a scooter shaped cloud that was about 5 feet below her. When she realized she landed on the cloud she lit up with excitement I Did it! After that she started flapping her wings as fast as she could. Now that she was on the cloud she needed to figure out how to control it, she moved her wings left and right to see how sensitive the cloud was. Every movement dramatically affected the cloud, the wind also played a big part of where the cloud was going. Rainbow Dash flew up as fast as she could, now right next to Scootaloo she told her all that she could do.
“Now Scoots remember that this is sensitive so don’t smash it into other clouds ok” Scootaloo listened to her as best as she could moving left and right, up and down she was starting to get the hang of it. After a few minutes of tweaking she finally had it she was soaring over Ponyville. I’m doing it I’m doing it! With this newfound transportation she flew down to building level, waving at every pony she saw.
“Look at me i'm flying!” Scootaloo screamed in excitement as she lightly hovered over the ground with her cloud and gave a hoof bump to everypony passing by. As she was flying around she flew over to sugarcube corner passing by giving Pinkie pie a wave in the window, looking back she saw her looking out the door way.
“Oh my gosh Scootaloo you’re flying! This calls for a party!” she jumped back inside. But Scootaloo didn’t care, she was up and about, flying everywhere she could. Soon she flew back to Rainbow dash who was sitting on the cloud where she started. Scootaloo zoomed up to where she was, parked her scooter and landed right next to Rainbow dash.
“So how was I?” Scootaloo said to Rainbow dash
“That was AWESOME!” Rainbow dash then grabbed Scootaloo and flew around the place then setting her down on the cloud she regained herself.
“So I know what we can do to celebrate, I know it is not a thing we would normally do but Lyra really wanted everypony to come to this concert for hers she needs moral support” Rainbow dash then took a flyer that was sitting right next to her and showed Scootaloo the poster read:
Welcome one and all to Lyra’s concert
Please attend the Admission is free You will love the entertainment put on by Lyra
There will also be sweets made by bonbon that will be served to all guest come and join us!
Scootaloo then looked at the piece of paper and turned to Rainbow dash.
"Really Rainbow, concerts are boring. I mean do you want to go?" Scootaloo then flopped on the cloud waiting for a reply. Rainbow dash then looked at her and smiled.
"Silly filly, Don't worry it will be fun." Rainbow dash rubbed Scootaloo's hair."Besides, Bon Bon will be making candy for the audience to have during the show." Rainbow dash smiled at the filly who just nodded and looked down at the ground below.
"Come on Scoots cheer up! Twilight said it was important for us to see the show, and I know you wouldn't wanna disappoint a princess." Rainbow looked at scoots hoping to get a smile out of her, but she knew that was Pinkies job. Before the filly could speak Rainbow interrupted.
"Oh wait I forgot something, shoot!" Rainbow dash then flew over to a cloud a few feet away and zipped right back to Scootaloo's side. In her hoof lay a necklace that had a gold chain just Scootaloo's size, on the chain was a gold ring with a glass hollow ball connected by just a few strands of gold. Inside the glass ball was a small purple tint of light shinning on Rainbows hoof. Scootaloo was in awe as Rainbow dash put the necklace around her neck. The second she did that a magic aura fused the two ends together so she couldn't take it off. The neckless then glowed even brighter then before, engulfing the cloud she was sitting on with a purple hue of light. Suddenly right in front of her, clouds shot left and right molding together faster then Rainbow dash could fly. A scooter shaped cloud was formed in front of her waiting for her to get on, Scootaloo couldn't believe her eyes.
"Wh-what is this thing!?" Scootaloo looked apon the neckless laying on her chest.
Rainbow dash was happy to see the filly was excited about the gift, she then explained to her how the necklace worked (how it grabs the nearest clouds to form together a scooter, so she could fly all around Equestria.) Scootaloo looked up to Rainbow dash tears forming in her eyes.
"Thank you, thank you for everything!" Just at that moment she rushed over and gave rainbow dash a hug.
" I am happy you like it, now let's go see a show,"

The theater was musty and full of ponies walking and talking to each other. The main room was full of red chairs covered in red fabric, each of the chairs were in a row leading to a path covered in lights to indicate where they were when the show started. At the door Bon Bon was handing out free treats to everypony, all were the same. One for each pony. Everypony ate them finding there assigned seats. When Rainbow dash a Scootaloo walked in they realized that there were not many ponies here, but Scootaloo got a glimps of the crowed around her hmm that is odd I don't recognize any pony in here. Even more, not a single filly to be seen. Scootaloo just ignored her own concerns and followed Rainbow dash. Once they entered Bon Bon handed them a piece of candy, not making eye contact. Rainbow dash popped hers in without thinking, Scootaloo did the same. As they were getting to there seats Scootaloo noticed that none of the ponies here seemed to be all that excited for this show. Was this performance mandatory? But if it was I would see a lot more ponies in here, heck I would at least see one I knew. Just as Scootaloo started to ponder, the lights started to dim, all the chattering slowly went silent as all of the eyes started to glue on to the stage in front of them. A single light turned on shining on a mint colored unicorn who can be no one but Lyra heartstrings. As the mint colored pony started to go to the center of the stage she gave a warm smile to the crowed as she sat down on a stool which was set to the middle of the stage. Before she grabbed her lyre she started to speak.
"Thank you everypony, this means a lot to me. My good friends have told me that I was a great player and I should preform for every pony, well here I am." Lyra pulled a pink colored bow tie from the floor. " This was given to me from a friend for good luck, I hope this works." She slowly put the tie around her neck and grabbed her lyre. " I am here to present Sleeping In The Hands."
As she started to play, her music was spot on. Her cords were correct and her plucks blended really well to the tune. It almost sounded like a lullaby. Scootaloo started to nod off but quickly jerked her head up, she knew it was really rude to sleep during these things. As she struggled to stay awake she realized that Rainbow dash had already nodded off and was leaning to the far left side. As Scootaloo looked around, she noticed that most of the other ponies had fallen asleep too or we're struggling to stay awake. With all of her must she tried to keep here eyes open, but she couldn't. Her underbody had gone num and was slowly going up her spine, her head started to fog up and was being weighed down by sleepiness. She then realiesed that this just wasn't natural to just fall in a deep sleep this fast. Scootaloo pondered as fast as she could before sleep could take her. She leaned over and stared at her wrapper which was laying on her lap, The candy! It must have been coated in something! Sleep was taking her fast, as she pulled her head up one last time to look at Lyra who's head wasn't looking at her instrument, but looking strait at Scootaloo, her eyes had a devilish look, her mouth was stretched by her villainous grin. But poor Scootaloo didn't see it before sleep finally got to her and she fell to the ground unconscious , and unaware.
