Helping Luna

   It was a cold and stormy night as rain poured down quite heavy. It was surprisingly strong for the edge of the everfree forest. I took a look and heard thunder and saw a magnificent dark blue bolt of lightning hit the ground. The impact forced me two meters away from the window, into my chair. Dang whiplash effect. I was rubbing the spot on my neck I hit, I heard a small, weak knock on the door. I quickly ran over and opened it. Before I saw the pony, I re-adjusted my cloak so that they didn't know I was an Alicorn. When I saw who it was, my jaw nearly came dislodged. "Princess Luna!" I whispered under my breath. I ushered her inside, wrapped her in a blanket and brought out some decaffeinated coffee for her, and a glass of water for me. She picked up her glass almost instantaneously.

     "Thank you. You are a gentlecolt." She said before she sipped some of the coffee. She let out a little "mmm" of surprise when she tasted it. Ah the glory of hazelnut creamer and sugar in coffee.

     "What has brought you to my house when usually everypony is sleeping?" I asked, most likely pointing out that I stay up profoundly late. Rainbow Dash would most likely call me an egg head if she found out why.

     "M-m-my sister accused me of treason and kicked me out of the palace. She-she said I was bound to become evil again. So she cast me away." She said, as I wrapped some gauze around the small incision in my neck from a spring I caught on during the throwback. "I'm so sorry sir! I didn't too badly hurt you, did I?"

     "Its fine your highness. I learned my own way of first aid. Besides, it's only a small wound. It should heal in just a few days." All of a sudden the wind forced the door open and sent my cloak flying, revealing my dark-blue wings. I managed to muster a "Oh no..." as I put the cloak back on and closed the door with magic. Luna gasped at what she saw.

     "You..." she trailed off as I looked her in the eyes. "Want to keep it a secret, don't you?" She changed her original question. I nodded just barely. It was supposed to be a secret that nopony but me knew about. One more person might send it spreading, but for some reason, her voice was persuading, so I dropped the subject.

     "What will you do now?" I asked after we finished our drinks. I used my magic to put it all in the sink so I could wash it later.

     Luna replied, "Hopefully, I'll find a house to stay at and get a job nearby but I'll have to go disguised."

     I accidentally let out my train of thought for a moment. "No matter how hard you tried your highness, you could never hide your incomparable beauty." Both Luna and I looked at each other. My face turned pale, and by pale, I mean snow white. (No dwarves here!)  Although larger than her, I was shy-er than her. "Aaannnnddd... I said that out loud." She nodded. I slapped myself right across the face as soon as she blushed. "No sense in taking it back. Here- tell you what. I'll pay you 20 bits an hour to kind of tend to my garden and clean my house while I'm gone off to work, since if I'm gone and my garden isn't tended to, the vegetables taste horrible. Also, you may stay in any room you like until you can move into the castle I've been rebuilding in my spare time."

     "That's very kind, and I'll take you offer..."

     "Its Clex. Clex Alletto."  I said as I walked out to do the dishes, leaving Luna in front of the fire. After I was finished, I walked in to find Luna fast asleep, a small smile on her face.

     The next few weeks were as regular as the first. I left to Ponyville to do odd jobs, heaven knows what each day, while Luna cleaned the house and tended my garden. Nearly a month of gardening left the vegetables nearly perfect. I had made a Delicious pumpkin pie, and also a salad, zucchini bread, some squash, and some beans. I also had mashed potatoes.

     Tonight, Luna  asked me something surprising. "Could I sleep with you tonight?" She asked. I was momentarily dumbfounded. Why would she want that? Against my mind, by body went and told her that I didn't mind at all as long as she didn't have a tendency to push people off beds. I felt like slapping myself again. "No promises!" She giggled. Oh great. I thought. I hope that she doesn't kick me off my own bed. I wonder why she wanted to stay in my room. Eh I'll figure it out someday. And I headed for bed. I was almost exhausted, remembered I had to take a shower, and headed to the bathroom only to hear the water running and humming. So I respectfully waited but Luna was done. When she walked out, I nearly dropped my jaw. She looked absolutely beautiful. Well, or beautiful than usual. She smiled at me, and I shook my head to regain my train of thought. I heard a small giggle as she walked down the hall. I thought,Why, Why does she torment me so?

     After everything was done and I headed for my bed, Luna was already fast asleep snoring the night away having dreams about who knows what. My best guess was that she was actually dream walking, and getting some well deserved rest simultaneously.(whose dreams I wonder...) I crawled in parallel to her, and was pulled into a hug by the adorable mare. I don't resist and I was nice and cozy for the rest of the night. Why? I thought. Why does she have to be so warm and cute?! I practically felt like I was in heaven. She was so soft. Without a moment's notice, I fell into a deep sleep.
