What Doesn't Kill You... (Part 1)
"Get the hell out of bed, Blaze," His brother, Flash said to him as he tossed a pillow at his face. "Today is your school tour."
Blaze cursed under his breath, then slowly uncovered himself from his ratty bed.
"How was last night? You sounded like you had another one of your nightmares again."
"Yeah, I did. So?" Blaze coldly replied.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"What are you, my therapist? No, and get the hell out of my life." Blaze walked over to the kitchen to get some leftovers from last night. He and his brother have been suffering ever since Flash lost his job as a garbage man. His mother died trying to give birth to a third child four years ago. His dad died in a fire three years ago. Flash tried to act like a father, but Blaze hated when he did that. He wanted his dad back. That was the simple fact of the matter.
"How is April?" Flash asked. Blaze sighed. The only thing he hated more than Flash acting like a father is Flash getting into his personal life. He chose to ignore him and grab his pack, take an apple, and go to school,slamming the door behind him.
"God, I hate my life."

When he got to school, he was greeted by April Showers, his marefriend. He met April two years ago at a carnival. She kept getting surrounded by really creepy boys, so Blaze pretended that they were coltfriend and marefriend. After the carnival, they exchanged emails and they have been a thing ever since.
"Hey, Blaze." April said as they went into the high school together.
"Hey, April. Did you do the math homework?" Blaze asked. April scowled at him. She knew exactly what he wanted. He smiled as April pulled a crumpled paper out of her saddle-bag.
"Thanks, Beautiful."
"Okay, class!" Blazes teacher yelled. "Its time for us to start to head out for our field trip to the Royal Palace!" A number of cheers and whoops told Blaze that they were excited.
"The first group will be exploring the castle garden and get to go in the maze! It consists of Clock Teller, Amazon Explorer, April Showers and Strung Bones."
Blaze sighed. Not only was he apart from his marefriend on probably the worst day of his life, Aprils ex, Strung Bones, was with her instead of him!
The next two groups were full of ponies that he did not really know.
"And for our final group. Blaze Sentry and Midnight Runner will be learning about the Royal Guard.''
Blaze felt sick. Now added to the trouble was a bat pony.
It was official. The world hated him.

When they got to the palace The groups split off to their destination, awaiting excitement at every turn.
"So, you're Blaze Sentry." Midnight said.
"Yup, whats it to ya?"
"Just wondering..." Blaze obviously noticed that he hurt the mares feelings. If bats had feelings...
"Do you have a, uh..." He didn't know how to put it.
"A special somepony?"
"Yeah..."
"No, it's hard when your a-"
"ATTEN-HUT! Welcome to the Royal Guard, maggots. My name is Sergeant Star Proctector and I'm here to show you what the bloody Royal Guard does for a living. Now we specialize in..." Midnight looked at Blaze and gave him a nudge.
"Psst."
"..."
"PSST."
Blaze was fascinated with the Royal Guard that he didn't notice when Midnight tried to make communication between them.
"Now I'll give you two some time to explore and check out the barracks. Don't be too long, I've still got to show you the rest of the bloody building." He walked off giving them sometime to explore the room.
"So where were we?" Midnight asked Blaze
"Uhh.. You were telling me why you couldn't get a special some pony."
"Oh, yeah... A bat pony doesn't really attract the best and the brightest of Equestria."
Blaze felt guilty for asking.
"What about you? Any special somepony for the popular Blaze Sentry?
"Me?" He never thought himself as popular. "Yeah. April. April Showers."
"April? I thought she was dating Clock Teller.
"No she's... Where did you... That's completely..."
"You were saying?"
"... That little slut..."
"You guys done yet?" There supervisor was getting antsy.
"Yeah, we're coming!"
Maybe this trip wasn't going to be that bad...

When he got home, he grabbed a snack and went to his room. He sat down and started to crunch on an apple, thinking about the events that happened today.
"So, today I learned that my marefr... EX-marefriend was cheating on me. Oh, and I also got a new friend." He thought about Midnight and her beautiful ma-
A thought popped into his head. All he needed was some hair-dye and glue...

"Bye, Clock. See you tomorrow!" April yelled as her secret coltfriend walked off. She stood in the doorway, putting on her fake smile for Clock as he turned away. She was obviously just using him to get Blaze to fight for her. Even he knew that.
"Even Blaze knows that... right?"
She shook away the thought of Blaze not knowing and started working on some dinner for herself.
"What a surprise, Mom is not home... again..."
She knew her mom was cheating on her dad, but she decided to keep her mouth shut. Besides, she could always blackmail her mom if she wanted something.
When she sat down on her bed, she felt something squish under her flank.
"What the...
"Hey there, Beautiful."
She immediately recognized the voice. "B-Bl-Blaze?'
"So I hear your getting frisky with some other ponies, eh?"
"Listen, I..."
"SHUT UP!!!! I couldn't care less about your stupid plan. All I want is to be done."
"But, I..."
"Love me? Yeah well let me ask you this; Why was Clock here?
April couldn't move and started to cry.
"Answer me."
"..."
"ANSWER ME!!!"
"I... invited him.
"Why?"
"I..." April couldn't keep it together any longer.
She started to sob uncontrollably.
"Fine, If you want to do it the hard way..." Blaze squeezed out a giant blob of dark green hair gel.
"Lets see how you handle this you narcissistic bitch..."
