Rainbow Dash And The Mystery Of The Artificial Wonderbolt
1 Start
Load Full StoryRainbow Dash had just became a wonderbolt. She had been trai gn for years before this. It Was just as amazing as she had hoped. She was a bit suspicious of another new wonderbolt. Uts name was Dream Destiny. She was slower than rainbowdash, and not quite as athletic. Rainbow didn't know her bert well, but she still thought she was strange. It was provably nothing, but this didn't stop rAinbow Dash. Rainbow thought that sh3 might be some sort of robot, due to her odd, mechanical speech and actions. Today, after the ceremony was complete, Rainbow would confront her, Daring Do style.
Dream Destiny was preparing for her initiation in 6 of the Wonderbolts. She was about to put her uniform on. She hesitates after a thought entered her mind. What if I'm not worthy of becoming a Wonderbolt... She dispelled this thought, since it provably wasn't the case, and puts on the uniform. She looks at herself in a mirror, once wearing the goggles, and one without so she could see her ey3s. Her eyes weren't anything particularly special. Nothing about her seemed noteworthy to herself, except for one thing...
Rainbow Dash was waiting offstage, waiting for her turn to go up and thinking about what she jbwe about Dream Destiny. Which wasn't very much. She had a light grayish blue coat and a bluer, but still ugly mane. Her eyes were alee this blue. She didn't seem to have any interests and always went home directly after practice, never bothering to socialize. Her cutie mark was bland, a blue compass rose. It was provably just rainbo2 being paranoid, but she thought that no possibility should be overlooked just because it was unlikely.
D4eam Destiny was also waiting in line, a few places behind Rainbow. She wondered why Rainbow has been pay ingher attention lately. Rainbow Dash has always been a=better than me. Why would she suddenly start paying attention to me? Perhaps she's found out my secret. But if she has, I'll have to act fast, before she can. That's it, tonight I'm leaving Cloudesdale.. Maybe I'll finally find some peace there.
Rainbow Dash was called up. Soon, it would be Dream Destiny's turn, and after that, Rainbow would confront her. Rainbow did what was required of her and left the area, waiting by the exit.
Dream was called up. Soon, Rainbow would confront her, but Dream didn't know that. Dream did what was required of her and left the area. She was then a,brushed by Rainbow Dash, who grabbed her and flew off with her to a higher cloud.
"Dream Destiny, are you secretly a robot?" Dream actually laughs at this, it's a foolish idea. "Of course I'm not! Do I look like I'm made of metal to you?" "Well...no.But you're clearly hiding something, even if it isn't that you're a soulless machine intended to kill all phones." "Even robots wouldn't just blindly do that, Rainbow! You've got to be kidding!""Still, what's you're secret?" Asks rainbow dash.
"Well, if you want to know, I guess I'll tell you. I'm going to leave tonight anyway. Someone was bound to find out essentially. You won't be able to find me when I leave, so don't even try.
I am a murderer, Rainbow Dash, and I'm currently on the run. I dyed my mane and tail this color, changed my name, falsified records, and altered my Cutie mark."
"Who did you kill?" "My entire family." "Why?" "I'd rather not say. I've said too much already."
"Dream Destiny" flies off. Rainbow watches her fly. She figured that she'd go to Twilight tomorrow, and that they'd both search for this mysterious mare. Rainbow couldn't believe that she'd actually stumbled upon a real mystery with her crazy theories. Rainbow loved mysteries, and she couldn't just leave them unsolved, especially not ones of this magnitude.
Rainbow vowed that she'd find Dream again and make her explain.
"Dream Destiny" was at her house. She quickly packed up her things and flew away. She knew now that someone knew, she'd have to leave. Rainbow Dash definitely couldn't be trusted to keep a secret. If Rainbow told, the authorities would probably round her up very quickly. But worse than any punishment that Celestia would give her would be what happened if she was caught. Caught by this thing. This thing that was after her. She didn't know who it was, or why it wanted her dead. It had been chasing her since slightly after the deaths of her family. She felt it had something to do with them. However, going to Canterlot to investigate would be too risky.
She decided that she'd go to Appleloosa. No one would ever think to look for her there. Before she left, she dyed her coat and mane. Now she was an earthy brown, with a slightly orange mane. The alterations to her cutie mark washed away, and the original design could clearly be seen: it was a blue quill with a compass rose at the tip. She'd have to get it altered again, it was to distinctive currently. However, she didn't have the time now. She put on a dress, a bland piece that served only to cover her cutie mark and wings.
Dream left and flew to the Ponyville train station. She bought tickets, for the next train at 6pm, which would arrive in 30 minutes. 30 minutes didn't seem like too much time to wait. She hid her face behind a newspaper she bought at the station and pretended to read. She couldn't just be so careless with her bits, she thinks. She'll have to make them go a long way, as she doubted she'd get a job easily, as she was an outsider.
The train arrives. Dream gets on, and puts her dreams of becoming a Wonderbolt aside with the name "Dream Destiny". From then on, she was Simple Ways, a pegasus from an earth pony family. At least that's what she'd say. She glanced at her small luggage, where she had kept her Wonderbolts uniform as a souvenir. So she'd remember the good times she had in Cloudesdale. The first good times she'd had since she killed her family on that night, two years ago...
