All creation began with the Aether Web, which wove through the dimensional soup and infused whole planets with life-giving energy. Some of this energy spilled into the cracks between worlds, seeping into the broken realms between.
He was born to one of the races that called these realms home. His species were drawn like a moth to the threads of creation weaving through sentient worlds above thier own. He did not come as a conquerer, but instead as a disciple of creation. A disciple willing to kill, dismember, and mislead to claim creation's power for his race, though his true impact would be much less direct.
I feel, at some point, the aliens that come to Equestria are going to be of the less pleasant (and human) type. And, they won't be relegated to some plot fulfillment deal as the villains for the protagonist to oppose. So, I wanted to play with this idea, and expand on the protagonist actually being willing to cause harm and bloodshed without true remorse for doing so. Where, if a hero were to arise, by convention, maybe, maybe the reader would side with the opposition instead. However, lately this has been taking yet another turn of something a little… different.
Regardless, sometimes I just want to write something darker, and that's the best reason I have for this. That, and practice for practice sake.
