As the bells tolled, the 2 quickly take off, sending a shockwave over the ground with the force of their liftoff. Skyblazer was in front with Icarus not far behind. "You do realize this is an endurance race, right?" Icarus asks.
"Who said I couldn't keep this up? Now are you gonna show me what you can do or not?"
"Are you really that eager to lose again?"
"If that is the case, I suggest you take that stick out of your ass and kick it into high gear." Skyblazer says with a smirk, getting a boost of speed.
Icarus couldn't help but chuckle. The young pegasus never could resist a chance to try and beat him. "You want a race, then you've got it." he says, quickly accelerating.
Skyblazer eeps as he looks back, seeing Icarus moving up on him fast. He flew upward, soon leaving the atmosphere.
Icarus wasn't long in passing him, smirking back at him. "Ready to concede yet?"
"Ok ok, you win." Skyblazer, says, slowing down. Icarus flew back to him. "I'm going to beat you one of these days."
"Not as long as I have these wings."
"Well thanks for the commentary, smuggy mcsmuggerton.." he says, rolling his eyes.
"Don't be so hard on yourself. You are quite the talented flier. Considering your young age, you have the potential to be one of the best." he assures him.
"Well thanks for the encouragement."
Icarus nods, glancing at the Apocalypse sun. "Hey Skyblazer, rest here a moment. I want to take a closer look at the sun."
"Are you sure that is safe?"
"Well the sun should be fine after the last flare year. According to the solar cycle of our star, we shouldn't have another flare for almost a wole year." he says, taking off towards it.
Skyblazer knew he had a point, but he couldn't shake the feeling something bad was going to happen. And these feelings of his were usually right.
**Canterlot Castle**
Celestia was pacing around her chambers, wondering what they could do. "I just wish we could at least find out if Misty is safe."
"There is one way we can check." Luna interupts. "I can enter her dreams and ask her the situation." she suggests.
"It's the least we can do. Please, take care of it as soon as possible."
Luna nods, heading for her chambers. She lays on the bed, falling asleep. Once in the dream world, she enters the gate to Misty's dream.
**Misty's dream**
Misty was tossing and turning in her sleep, the events of her escape plaguing her nightmares.Suddenly, everything turns dark. "What's going on?"
"I'm sorry to intrude, but I had to check on you." Luna says, materializing in front of her.
"Luna? It's been ages!"
"That it has. It's good to see you are still alive. Where are you right now? Are you safe?"
"For the time being. I ended up in the human world. My wing was broken in the escape, and my magics used up for a while, so I'm stranded here. But a young man was kind enough to take me in. I'm gonna be out for a couple months until I'm fully healed." Misty says, sighing.
"I should look into him while I have a chance. You should know your brother is spreading news that you killed your parents. He even tried to tell us, but rest assured my sister and I don't believe a word of it."
"Glad to hear that you are still on my side. Could you do me a favor? Would you check in on my subjects from time to time and let me know what they think?"
"Of course. I should go, but stay safe." she says, fading away. She then enters the gate to Shawn's dream.
**Shawn's dream**
Luna enters an underwater scene. "Hmm, curious." she says, having a look around. Something quickly swims past her. "I know you are there, come on out."
A small dolphin swims up to her. "Well, this is peculiar." he says in Shawn's voice. "To say you are out of place here would be putting it mildly. What are you doing here?"
"I guess you could say I'm here to fish out your intentions."
"Oh haha, nice one." he says, turning to his human form. "Considering the fact you are an alicorn, would I be correct in assuming you are referring to Misty?"
Luna remains silent, simply nodding.
"You have nothing to worry about, she's in good hands. I'll take good care of her."
"I'd say her first priority right now is regaining her strength. Are you willing to look after her until then?"
"Of course, I'd never turn down someone in trouble. I just wish there was more I could do to help." he says with a sigh. "Now if you don't mind my asking, who are you? And how do you know her?"
"I am Princess Luna. Misty and I have been friends for a long time. She's even helped me in a few of our battles."
"I see. Well it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Shawn. You have my word she'll be well taken care of."
"I sense no lies in your words, you don't have to reassure me of anything. You are truly a kind soul."
"It's nice of you to say so, but you give me too much credit."
"I think you don't give yourself enough. Stop doubting yourself so much."
"I guess. So, do you always enter the dream of others?"
"I am the princess of the night. It is my duty to oversee the Realm of Rest, and its temporary but frequent visitors. So, the short answer would be yes."
"Your people must feel safe with you watching over them when they sleep."
"That depends... Do you feel safe with me here?"
"Me? Well, now that I know you mean well, I have no reason not to."
"Well then, knowing that, I feel content in saying they do." she says, smiling warmly. "It's about time I go. I leave Misty in your capable hands."
"Will we be seeing more of you?"
"I may check in from time to time. I did promise Misty I'd keep an eye on her subjects through their dreams and report back to her. So we will see." she says as she disappears.
**Canterlot**
Luna wakes up, heading back to her sister.
"How is she?" Celestia asks.
"Well..." she starts, informing her of the situation.
"It's good to know she's in good hands. I worry for her subjects though. Who knows what Foresight is doing to them."
"Are you sure we shouldn't do something?"
"As we are now, we would stand no chance against them. All we can do now is wait."
To be continued...
Author's Note
One thing about Luna's ability to enter the dreams of others still puzzles me, to be honest. I mean does she herself physically enter the dream? Does she go to sleep herself and enter the other dream from her own? Or is it some form of astral projection? I wasn't sure which would make more sense in this scene, so I kind of improvised a bit.
