//-------------------------------------------------------// Frontline -by texanpony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Ponyville //-------------------------------------------------------// Ponyville It was a dark lonely night as I walked down the ruff moonlit road. The soft breeze ruffled through my loose shaggy mane along with the trees and plants around me, my dagger, sword, arrows and bow jangled loosely with each step I took. As I reached the end of the road my eyes found an old wooden sign stuck in the ground that said Ponyville. With a small smirk I reached in my bags and pulled out a stop watch and started it. "Time to see how long I can stay here." I said to myself as I put the watch back. After I had everything put up I walked over to a near by tree and lay down. But before I went to sleep I pulled out a picture of a small yellow filly with a pink mane. I gently kissed the photo and held it close against my chest. "I'm sorry sis" ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I slowly woke as the sun's rays hit my face. Groggily I sat up and popped my back. I looked down at the picture lying beside my makeshift bed. I pick it up and put it in my bag. After picking up my bags and putting on a cloak I had in them to hide my small armory, I set off towards the town. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As I enter the town I regretted it immediately. First I was almost run over by an orange filly on a scooter, then an anvil falls from the sky and almost killed me, and then if I wasn't fluster enough I was ambushed by a bright pink mare who could talk I swear a mile a second. And she talked a lot! Yet I some how manage to keep walking forward toward the Everfree. I was almost to the border of town when I was suddenly hit a beam of velvet magic that sent me flying to a wall of a building. It also knocked my cloak off revealing my arsenal as I pulled myself from the rapid hoof steps and feminine voice coming toward me. "Oh I'm sooo sorry I hope I didn't hurt y.o...u..." only to trail off when she saw what I was carrying. I didn't give her time to recover from the shock of seeing a nonmilitary pony armed before I bolted for the tree line. For once luck was with me that day and I made it in to the forest before anything else happened. As I sprinted deeper in to the forest I began to slow down. When I finale stopped I was in a clearing with a cliff face at one end and a small pool and stream at the other. In the cliff there was a small cave opening. 'Well this my lucky day I guess.' I thought as walked into the caves to look around. In the cave there was three rooms, one in the front where you walk in and two in back that branched out to each side. I sighed and set my things down on the floor of the cave. "Well Frontline, welcome home," I said as I lay down next my, "for now that is." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fluttershy's P.O.V. [later that evening] I hummed softly as I walked down the dirt road toward the library. Listening all the while to the evening birds as they sang their pretty songs. This was the perfect evening to sit and relax, yet Twilight needed us for something. ' I wonder why Twilight needs us' I thought as I got closer to the tree house. As walked though the door I saw everyone gathered around a table in the center of the room. Twilight was at head while everyone else was on the sides as soon as she saw me she smiled and started talking. "Good, now that every one is here can start," I heard her say as I sat down," now to why I asked you to come here." She looked around when she finished her sentence then a serious look grew on her face before continuing  "I fear there is a mercenary in Ponyville." At those words my heart along with everyone else's dropped into my stomach. //-------------------------------------------------------// Encounters //-------------------------------------------------------// Encounters Fluttershy's P.O.V. "Rainbow what are we going to do," I asked as we reached my cottage, "I mean we haven't seen him in 13 years, what if he doesn't recognize us, what if he lost his memory, what imph....."  my ranting was cut short from a hoof promptly shoved in my mouth. I looked at the owner of the hoof who was giving me a look that said shut up. Push the hoof away an sighed. "I sorry Rainbow, it's just that from what we heard tonight everypony thinks Frontline is a mercenary," I said as I unlocked the door to the cottage, "I just wish I could tell them other wise." Then I turned to go in to my home, but before I could walk in I felt a hoof on my shoulder. I turned around to see rainbow starting me sternly in to my eyes. "I know your worried Shy, but Frontline is a grown stallion and handle himself and I want to tell them to but we promised him we would tell anypony about his job. He will be alright and we will find him I want him back to." She said. I pulled her in for a hug. When the hug was over I went inside while Rainbow flew off to her home. I walked up the stairs to my room and then went over to the wall on the facing the forest. I reached up to a picture hanging on the wall and pushed it in to the wall. After I pushed the picture into the wall the entire wall rose up and a secret room was revealed and I this room there was swords, bow & arrows, throwing knives & star, tomahawks, blow darts & guns of all kinds, and armor. Also in the center of the room the was a photo of a stallion with a yellow coat and brown mane with a pink stripe threw it. he was in a set almost full body armor and was with two mares the same get up. One was cyan with a rainbow mane and other was butter yellow with a pink mane. I picked the picture up and hugged it. "I know you can take care of yourself, but I won't let you go again." I said to the photo. Then I set it down and went to work. Frontline P.O.V. I sat silently in the trees on the edge of the forest. Listening and watching the ponies from the town. I smiled as I saw three fillies running around play chase. 'Just like the old days,' I thought,' I just wish they didn't go by so fast.' I turn to climb down the tree when I suddenly heard a high pitch scream. I quickly turned my head back to the fillies only to see them huddled together and being circled by three earth pony stallions carrying daggers in their hooves. I felt anger boiling under my skin and without thinking I lunged from the tree like a very pissed snake. I landed on the stallion closet to me and that's when all hell broke loose. "What the bu...uhk..." [clank][shank][clank] "You're going to pay for that you bas..uhk" [slash] "Watch your tongue, there's kids near by" "Don't tell us what to do buc..uh..er" [clank][clank][slash] "I told you to watch you tongue" I snarled as the last stallion fell to the ground, crimson blood flowing from his throat. I turned slowly to the fillies who I think were more scared now than earlier. I felt guilt rise in my throat, they should not have seen that. Slowly I walked towards putting the dagger that I had used in the massacre away. "Are you girls okay?" I asked softly still walking towards they were still frozen still. I stopped and stood there for a moment a stood there, but before I could take another step I was thrown back against the tree I was just in by a blast of magic again. I shakily stood back to see four mares standing between me and the fillies looking very pissed and to make matters worse one of the mares was the one I ran into earlier. I was about to say the classic I mean now harm bit, but before I could I was shot with ....confetti? "There he is girls let get him." the lavender mare that shot me yelled. Then they all prepared to charge but before they could, a pegasus cladded in armor and mask landed next to me only to pick me up fly off with me. It happened so quickly that I was knocked on lift off. It's going to be a long trip. I woke up to the sweet smell of tea brewing on a stove. My eyes blinked open to see a brown wooden ceiling. I turned my head to see I was in a living room lying on a couch. I slowly sat up on the couch and looked around the room. It was quaint cottage with bird houses hanging from the ceiling and other animal wrens around the room. 'why does this place looks familiar?'  I thought. My ears twitched back at the sound of hoof steps come down the stairs on the other side of the room, but it was the person that came down the stairs that got my attention. "no iiimpossible...." I said barely audible, as I sat there staring at the mare that had came down the stairs. Who said in a very familiar and soft voice, "Hi brother" //-------------------------------------------------------// Sisters //-------------------------------------------------------// Sisters Frontline's P.O.V. "Hi brother." "FLUTTERSHY?!" I yelled in response falling off the couch onto my face in shock. With my face on the floor and my brain on overload I barely heard giggling as I was pulled up to my hooves. " You didn't change at all over years did you, still the drama queen I always knew." she said with a smirk. "B.B..But how I thought you burned in the house with Rainbow, mom, and dad!" I said nervously stepping back slightly scared that this might be a nightmare. Fluttershy's smile fell instantly at this. "Oh no, we thought you had burned with them, me and Rainbow anyway." she said tears starting to run down her cheeks. I to started cry to and we soon found  our selves hugging and crying in the middle of the floor. This went on for what felt like hours. but a nocking at the door ended it. I quickly hid up stairs as Fluttershy went to answer the door. as I  was up there I listened to the conversation at the door as best I could. It was a heated talk and I couldn't wake out most of the words. But I had a feeling it was a mercenary on the lose.  At this my anger began to boil I didn't like mercenaries. Several minutes till I heard the door shut and hoofsteps coming up the stairs. turned toward the stairs to see my little sister coming up the stairs. "So how did it go," I asked calmly. "Oh, I hope you didn't hear that," she replied shy. I shook my head at her antics. "All I heard was something 'bout a lose mercenary." I said anger betrayed in my voice." do you know who it is?" Her face paled and she looked down in shame. I sighed as it donned on me. "It's me isn't it?" I said flatly. She nodded. I sighed and sat down on her bed." well it's not the first time I've been called that" She nodded again as she sat be side me in silence. "Well time to figure out....." "HHHHHEEEEELLLLPPP!" I was interrupted by a high pitch scream coming from outside the cottage. Which caused both me and Fluttershy jump out of our skins. I ran to the back window to the three fillies from earlier running from the big timber wolf I've ever seen it had to be at least 12 feet tall. I turn quickly to find my things only to be stop by my sister. "You can't go out there, you'll be discovered. Just let the guards handle this." She says trying to hold me back. " You know they can't handle this, I the only chance those fillies got." I reply pushing past her, to look for my things. She sighs as she watches me try and find my things as fast as I can. She then walk over to the book shelf on the other side of the room. "We'll if I can't stop you, you might as well use these." She says as pulls a book from the book case, only to have the wall beside the shelf slide up into the ceiling to reveal a hidden walk in armory. It had every  type of weapon ever made along with three sets of clothing on stands. I turn and smile at her." Now this is more like it." I say as walk into the hidden room. //-------------------------------------------------------// Friends or Enemies //-------------------------------------------------------// Friends or Enemies Applebloom was huddled scared against friends as a 12 foot Timber Wolf cornered them. She cried for help once more before closing her eyes to except the fate she thought she was given. Only it never came, only heard a yell and a yelp of pain. She opened her eyes to see the stallion from earlier standing over the Timber Wolf, as it lay dead with dagger through its head. She was about to say thank you, but never got the chance as she saw for the second time that day the stallion get shot with a velvet magic beam. When she looked to see where the beam came from my sister, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle. She, Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie  then charged the stallion. I closed my eyes again not waning to see what was about to happen, only nothin happen because I heard a familiar voice scream stop. ———-— I grunt as I was once again shot in the side by the same magic beam  for the third time in three days. As I got up I heard the sound of hoof beats advancing towards me and ... "STOP!" that voice was one I knew all to well and I felt my heart skip a beat. As the hoofs screeched to a halt. I turned my head to see a pony I thought I would never see again. "Rainbow Dash, what are you doing, get out of the way." I heard the lavender unicorn say. I notice that I still on my knees so I try to move to my hooves.I never got to my hooves, because I was tackle back to the ground by a butter-yellow pegasus in a hug. I smiled as hugged her back before she broke the hug and slapped me across the face. "I told you it was a bad idea of come out here, now the guards know you're here." She yell at me. I hung my head in shame for making her worry. I helped her feet hugged her once more and then started to walk towards Rainbow Dash. I walked up beside her, and turned to look at her. She then turned to look at me, and then very bluntly we kissed. This action made everypony's but Fluttershy's, who was laughing quietly to herself, jaws drop. "Some pony mind telling us what's going on?!" A voice, that belonged to the pony one pony on the area that I didn't very much like, yelled out. Rainbow and I broke our embrace and turned to face the purple unicorn and the other three mares be her. "Well, me and my lost but recently found marefreind were caching up." I stated calmly only to get zapped by another beam of magic, back into the tree that then fell from being hit with so much force. I looked up just in time to see two orange hooves coming towards my face and rolled to the side to avoid have it broken. I then landed on my feet and got into a defensive stance as I saw the orange mare recover and come after me a second time. I braced myself to fend off the attack but a blue blur made should the fight never came. It did however cause some yelling as the orange mare was thrown to the side, and another beam of magic sent my way. I dodged it thankfully. "What the hell is going on here," I yell as I dodged the beam," what did I do to get attacked, apparently nothing but saving fillies that would have been kill." "Don't lie to us you brute we know what you were going to do to those fillies." a posh voice said, coming from the white unicorn mare, who then shot another beam at me. My brow furrowed as I as I dodged her beam. "And what, pray tell was I going to do to them?" I snarled as I dodged another beam this time for the purple mare. only to run smack dab into a ...... deadly ball of confetti, which sent me flying into another tree. I was then tied to the tree by a rope that belong to the orange mare that had been fighting rainbow, who was also tie to the same tree. I was reaching for one of my knives to cut us out, but never got the chance because of on what happen next. STOP YOU WILL NOT HURT BOTHER, YOU ARE SUPOSS TO BE MY FREINDS CELESTIA DAMNIT! //-------------------------------------------------------// Discover //-------------------------------------------------------// Discover The tension in the room rose highly in the few seconds those words were spoken. "Ah mercenary what the hay is one of 'em doin' here?" asked Applejack annoyed and worried. "Yeah, what's that meanie doing here," agreed Pinkie Pie happily, *gasp*" is he here to party?!" Everyone rolled their eyes at the energetic party pony and her remark. "I'm afraid not Pinkie," Twilight said shaking her," but what ever he is here for we keep an eye on him." When Twilight finished her glowed and levitated a traveling cloak from the corner of the room on to the table. It seemed familiar for some reason. "This had fallen off of him when I found him," she continued," I believe it might give us clues to who he is. Other than this cloak he is also an Earth Pony with a yellow coat and shaggy brown mane with a pink strand through ...Fluttershy ,are you okay?" As I listened to Twilight describe the pony my face paled. And tears seeped through my eyes. 'could it be true, could he still be alive.' I thought. Instead of answering Twilight I picked up the cloak. I could feel everyone eyes on me as I slowly turn the cloak over and looked at the clasps. What I saw made me freeze, tears started flow freely down my face. I looked up at Rainbow Dash, who had come around the table to make sure I was ok. I showed her the clasps because I knew this involved her too. When she saw the clasp I saw tears form in her eyes, I drop the cloak as we embraced each other in a hug. The hug broke when a certain white unicorn oblivious to why they were crying for open her mouth and said the worse thing she could at that time. "My, I know the cloak is ugly, but not that ugly," Rarity said," and should we be trying to find a way to find away to stop this ruffian before it hurt some?" I felt the anger in me boil over and before anyone said anything else I was on my hoofs and out the door with the cloak and Rainbow behind me. I hear the others try to call us back but I ignore them and kept walking. When me and Rainbow were far enough away I turned to my friend and said with determination in y eyes and voice. "We'll find him Rainbow, we won't lose him again." and with that turned and flew home hug the cloak as I went.
