It is 1,000 years into the future. Equestria's greatest heroes, the Element Bearers, have been long dead of natural causes, all but one.
Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship, the most achieved student and unicorn Equestria has ever known, is alive and in her prime. Celestia is gone, her magic now with Twilight, and Luna is soon to go. Cadence, along with the Crystal Empire, has fallen, destroyed in their war with Equestria 400 years ago.
After losing her friends and mentor, Twilight has isolated herself, and grown cold. She has vowed to make no more friends, to not love, so she will never feel the hurt of loss. Then she takes it too far, and becomes the cruelest tyrant Equestria has known…….

Twilight Sparkle remembered far before the time she lived in. She remembered Ponyville, and its warm, loving ponies. She remembered Canterlot and its busy hubbub. She remembered her mentor, Celestia, and her kind, motherly demeanor. Most importantly, she remembered her friends. Rainbow Dash, the tough, athletic tomboy, who was loyal to the end, and, though she didn't show it, secretly cared. Fluttershy, the quiet, caring mare who did anything to protect her friends and animals. Pinkie Pie, the cheerful, bubbly party pony who was friends with everypony. Applejack, the honest country mare who loved her family and treated her friends as though they were, themselves, in the Apple Family. Rarity, the generous fashionista who would do anything for her friends. Lastly, Spike, her devoted assistant, who would help her whenever he could. Yes, her friends, the friends that she no longer had. They had died long ago, first Pinkie, then Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow, and Applejack, all dead. Spike had died 500 years ago, of old age. He had been a dragon, so he lived to comfort her much longer than her friends had been able to, but in the end, he died, as all living creatures did. Twilight had been heartbroken when Spike had died, him being her only friend from her youth that lived. Celestia had died during the Great Crystal War, claiming her time had come. Twilight had felt herself absorb a great amount of power, and sadness, when Celestia had died, and Cadence had died during the Great Crystal War when the Crystal Empire was destroyed. Yes, she was loyal to her country to the end. Luna had been rambling about how her time was coming, how she was going to die, she swore by the sun in the sky, and frankly, it worried Twilight, They weren't the best of friends, but they had bonded over the loss of everypony they had known and loved. If only Twilight could bring everypony back.......
